Common Questions and Answers about Colonoscopy test results

Avatar f tn Thank you Mammo, your shared concern drove me to get a copy of my test results. Turns out the polyps were hyperplastic -- essentially harmless. Had the doctor's office told me that in the first place they would have saved me a lot of worry. As to your point about a new doctor -- this WAS a new GI -- so I guess I should question the one who I was seeing previously. Again, thanks so much for your concern -- it really did motivate me.
Avatar n tn An IgM test should never have been ordered, the results are often inaccurate. HSV-2 cannot be acquired through a colonoscopy - it is only sexually transmitted.
1478992 tn?1287429445 Many times a study like this that you might be reading was not done on a randomly selected group of individuals so the results are biased. Also, a CEA test is usually only done to monitor people who already have colon cancer, so I'm curious why you had one done (what symptoms are you having). To answer your question. There are safer less invasive tests. However, they are much less accurate. These tests will only show polyps.

Avatar n tn I recently had my blood test results for HCV completed. After reviewing the results, my question is, "do I have a moderate, chronic or severe case of HCV?" The liver specialist (MD) seemed to be evasive. He is also a gastroenterological MD and seemed more interested in performing my next endoscopy and colonoscopy. SGOT (AST): - 101 SGOT (ALT): - 142 HCV RNA PCR: 6,000,000 (yes, 6 million) HCV LOG10: > 6.
Avatar n tn Dont start stressing too much on the colon cancer issue until you have had a colonoscopy and a diagnosis from your doc. I will say that you 100% should have the colonoscopy, especially if you have immediate family with colon cancer. If the colon cancer is distant, like great uncles, 2nd cousins, etc, your chances of having it are less likely. Keep us updated, but remember there are tons of other issues it could be. As for the raised alt, I had the same.
11294269 tn?1422402907 I got my results back from the one hour glucose test. It was 170. I have to go for a 3 hour test. My. doctors office said that just because i failed the first doesn't mean ill fail the next. Is 170 really bad? If i do fail to what happens next? Im a ftm... So nervous.
Avatar n tn I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow, I am prepping with NuLYTELY today I take a medication at bed time, will this med get flushed out?
554409 tn?1218403468 I just wanted to post an update. My Celiac test came back Negative, and of coarse my ESR came back elevated as well as my white cell count. I have requested access to my medical records. I will be having an upper endoscopy with Biopsies done next Tuesday, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that something will be found so I can have some answers.
Avatar f tn When I showed ALL doctors the saliva test, was poo pooed....when I showed each Doctor results from ALL TESTS....
Avatar n tn I recently had a colonoscopy and my GI said the results came back normal. However, the pathology report states: Right colon: "mild nonspecific chronic inflammation and mild submucosal edema; no active inflammation or significant chronic architectural changes." Rectal colon: "mild nonspecific chronic inflammation; no active inflammation or significant chronic architectural changes." Inflammation and edema don't sound "normal" to me...
Avatar m tn Please let us know how the colonoscopy goes tomorrow. The test you had, an occult stool test simply checks for blood in the stool. Testing positive for this can be for any number of reasons and most benign. Anal fissures, non cancerous polyps and hemorrhoids can all result in a positive test. However, it is correct that malignancy can also result in a positive test. https://www.webmd.
Avatar m tn I would recommend waiting to hear the results of your colonoscopy before worrying too much. Yes, there are diseases to worry about, but most of these are really rare. Have you tried eliminating all lactose from your diet for 2 weeks to see if that helps?

Avatar f tn Hopefully, you will find out soon enough when you get your test results back. Try to not worry too much until then. Yours sounds better than mine. I had ulcers too and gastritis in my stomach. It's very possible it's just IBS like Lizzie said. Let us know when you get the test results back. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! First off, did you tell the doctor or the nurse during the test that you were in pain. If yes, then you shouldn't trust this particular doctor. If no, then they had no way to know something was wrong. You will never forget this experience but you can move past it maybe by talking to a therapist. Please don't lose trust in this test, this test could have saved your life.
Avatar f tn They did a rectal exam, fingerprick and took 8 vials of blood. I called to get my results today and my doc said all if my bloodwork is normal but they are waiting for 1 more test which should be back by thursday. They seem to think i have colitis but are not sure and said i may need a colonoscopy (when i talked to them on friday). I have been sufferring the past month from constant bowel movements/urges to have one as well as a lot of dark red blood.
Avatar m tn hi and thanks ! a blood test along Cannot rule it out , but perhaps make it less much likely ? I do think i have IBS even though it has only been 2 weeks Mainly because I have anxiety disorder ,depression and OCD, I read 60% of people with IBS have mental disorders Is this correct ??
