cipro

Hi, I have problems with UTI and Kidney Infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other Antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and Kidney Infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
I am a 22 year old female generally in good health. No significant health problems. Not currently taking any medication. No allergies. I have had two Kidney stones in the past both requiring litotripsy. My last Kidney stone was considered very large and was taken out by lithotripsy procedure in November 2008. No previous history of UTI or Kidney Infection or problems to my knowledge. In March 2009, I was urinating blood (large amounts) and had burning with urination.

Many doctors prescribe Antibiotics for a week or two to ensure that the Infection has been cured. Other tests such as intravenous pyelogram may also be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
A urine culture came back several days later negative as well. The urgent care doc treated me for a Kidney Infection with Cipro. 72 hours after starting Cipro it was like I had an epiphany, I thought Oh my gosh, I feel OK. Now 4 days later, 3 days from completing my Cipro treatment I am getting dizzy again and have right flank pain again. No urinary symptoms. What on earth is going on? I have not had a UTI or Kidney Infection in prob 10 years.
I have looked at symptoms of Kidney Infection and the only part that fits is the throbbing back pain. No fever, no nausea or vomiting, chills. I am fatigued, but I haven't been sleeping well because if the throbbing pain. I have been drinking plenty of fluids, cranberry juice and lots of water. I hate to waste the money on another doctor visit if they are just going to give me a muscle relaxer for back pain.

Anyone here had a Kidney Infection before? What helps for pain? And how long does the pain normally last??
I have been on Cipro for 7 days and I am still having constant burning, and pain in vagina and freguent urination. What in the world could be going on....Could I have possible STD? I have been married 5 years and know if I do it did NOT come from me...Help!!!
You could have an obstruction or an Infection in the Kidney. I was quite close to dying from Kidney failure when I was given the wrong Antibiotics to take. This is nothing to mess around with. Please go to the ER, see a urologist, GP or urgent care.
I was prescriped Cipro for the Kidney Infection and doxycycline for the potential of chlamydia or gonorrhea (despite urine test coming back negative). I've only been on one dose of Cipro and Doxy. I started it last night when I returned from the doctors. I noticed diarrhea fairly early one and I had a very restless night, waking up every 45 to a few hours. This morning I woke up and I had muscle pains in my left arm and back and I was feeling VERY anxious, seemingly for no apparent reason.
I finally went to an urgent care clinic where a urinalysis showed nitrites in my urine and I was prescribed 10 days of Cipro. Within 1 day of taking the Cipro I started feeling pain underneath my ribs in the front, sides and back. I went back to the doctor where she informed me that the urinalysis that was taken the first visit had come back from the lab negative for bacteria.
I've been dosed so often with Cipro by the VA docs, it no longer works. Now, I'm facing another case of Kidney Infection (many severe symptoms @ this moment), and I'm given Cipro with Bactrim. Three doses, and tremendous nausea and vomiting. Am I on the wrong track, and what should I be using instead if anything? I'm fading pretty fast, with little confidence in the treatment at present.
I'd go back to the clinic as it could be that it is a Kidney Infection and the bacteria are resistant to the Antibiotics you have. I know you don't want to cancel your trip but your health must come first!
I HAVE had 3 Kidney Infections in my life, and one that was very severe, and I asked the DR. in the ER if I could use Cipro, because I had some at home and he said "No, it's not good for the Kidneys, and we are admitting you overnight anyway hon". That's all I know and this was about 7 years ago. Anyway, I hope you recieve peace and closure in days to come.
I was given a urine test, but at that time I didn't pass any blood. I was prescribed Cipro 500mg for 7 days for a UTI/possible Kidney Infection. I'm now on my 5th day of meds...here's a quick breakdown. First day, minor spotting/minor pain...2nd day- excruciating lower back pains (hurt to sit, lay, stand...just couldn't get comfortable) and heavier spotting, no fever.
On Tuesday I saw my family doc ( my gastro always says to see my family doc) and this time on top of the Kidney Infection I have some really bad wheezing and he said Infection in my lungs and sinuses. More Antibiotics. He also said all bladder Infections stem from different types of ecoli. Now here is my question. I could have sworn I read somewhere on here where the Peg-intron contains a small amount of ecoli.. but I cant find it. Remember I am on my 11th shot week (whew almost half way done!
I have been on Cipro for 7 days and I am still having constant burning, and pain in vagina and freguent urination. What in the world could be going on....Could I have possible STD? I have been married 5 years and know if I do it did NOT come from me...Help!!! I should also add that I have no discharge, just pain.
I came down with a pretty nasty bladder Infection about 1 month ago (painful, frequent urination, cloudy, bloody urine, etc..). I was put on a 10 day course of Cipro, and all seemed well. However... Probably about the second day of treatment I developed pain in my lower back, which I would describe as being on both sides of my spine just below where my ribcage ends. I guess this isn't technically the flank.
Did ultrasound which revealed right Kidney is 7cm, IVP should less functioning right side, lasix renogram showed 18% working right side, Urethroscopy and Cystoscopy reveald a block on the Kidney and bladder junction, but no Infection was found in the sample retrieved from the Kidney directly. Cipro was given and now out of UTI since end of August. But got pain, fever back in mid October now Doctor is advising removal of right side.
I also had some pain in my bladder area and diarrhea, which I usually have during a Kidney Infection. That is when I realized it was a Kidney Infection. I have had several in the past because I don't get bladder Infection symptoms, or the symptoms are very mild. I went to the Dr. when I was really sick and my urine test was negative. Some bacteria was found (see below.) I was completely shocked. My Dr. put me on Cipro and sent my urine to the lab.
Dr have me Cipro to take for Infection and to follow up with my FP.... The thing is I go to a clinic and I owe on my account, so they refuse to see me.... I have no idea what to do about my health and whats going on... I have been having a achy pain in my aretha for about two months and not releasing all my urine have to push the rest out.... So I have been having sharp pain shooting down from my left side down through my aretha....
I had felt like **** for a month and a half - some genital area discomfort, muscle and joint aches, mild fever...and so on. The doctor checked me out and told me I was healthy....I was worried about STDS. The test came back positive for: 1. Mono 2. Increased Kidney function (I was urinating frequently) 3. Decreased lymphocytes 4. Two separate doctors also diagnosed me with prostatitis. I did not respond in any noticeable way to Cipro.
Could your Kidney pain be from a Kidney stone? The ER doc put you on Antibiotics? So maybe it is an Infection and may take time to clear up with the help of Antibiotics? Also, know that stress can really aggravate endo symptoms and make it flare up. I got a new job last year that was very stressful and my endo pains went shooting up. You're stress may also affect your monthly cycle making your period late or early... but endometriosis also does that on its own too.

Now, End of May 2008, I agaoin have some white discharge, but also some soreness in the lower abdomen area. Wondering if this sounds more like Prostatitis, Kidney/Bladder Infection, or something else. I started taking bactrim and Cipro yesterday ewhen I noticed the return of the discharge. Was this a good thing? If it were an STD, would the discharge symptoms come and go like that, present a day or two then gone for 2-3-4 months? Thanks for any help.
All was well on the new dose until early April when I had a very unexpected complication from a Kidney stone that landed me in the hospital with an obstruction and serious Kidney Infection. I had 2 uteroscopy/litho surgeries in 2 weeks and was on Antibiotics (including IV Rocephen, oral Vantin, & others like Cipro) for 6 weeks for initial UTI with this stone. I have been extremely symptomatic (hyper symptoms) and my this week my TSH is 0.
Got hit with a bad Kidney Infection. We went to a bowling party on new year's eve & I thought that maybe I had pulled a muscle in my back even though I didn't even throw the ball that many to times since my lower left side of my back had been hurting. Felt like labor pains Monday night it hurt so bad. On Cipro now. I just wondered if anyone else has unexpected Kidney Infections too.
