I have been to the doctors before as i had really really bad pains in lower abdomen, along with pain before opening my bowels and was told, WAIT FOR IT, yes IBS. The doctor gave me an internal and checked the size of my ovaries and for any swellings and she said it was normal.
Last year I had rib pain and back pain under my ribs, bloating feelings, generally just feeling bad. I was going to pain dr at the time for lower back pain, disc problems. She said my rib pain could be degenerative disk in the middle spine pinching a nerve. So she ordered MRi, which did show bulging disks.( and scared me with a tumor which turned out to be benign Tumor on my T-8 Hemangioma) She referred me to my general doctor, He was dragging his feet.
Like many people on this forum i have been suffering since April 2012 with severe bloating and pain under my right rib cage. The pain becomes more prominent and uncomfortable after i have eaten.I can only describe the feeling of bloatedness as sore, burning sensation like a balloon about to burst. The pain under my ribs however is as if someone is poking a sharp object into me?? At times it takes my breath away.......i feel it pretty much all of the time but more so after food intake.
We realize now that her symptoms are the symptoms of a female heart attack - pain right under the ribs. There is a blood test they can do that checks your enzymes. Also a stress test is only good if you do it longer than you feel you can. When you're winded and can't breathe.. Keep pushing yourself. Only when you're past your breaking point will your heart produce an accurate result for stress on it. Good luck.
Seems to be getting worse. I have discomfort in my upper right just under my ribs, just right of center. if I don't eat for several hours after I get up I have these same symptoms. Feel like I might just explode one day.

My question to you is whether or not it sounds like IBS like he tells me, or if I should get a second opinion. I do have tightness under my ribs, and have read a non-functioning gallbladder can cause some of these symptoms; is this something to check into or no?
im about 4 week into my pregnancy (just found out) and for the last 2 days ive been having this feeling of being full of air...its not at my pubic area, but seems to be right under my ribs...any ideas what it is and how to deal with it? i fee like i cant get enough air, but that im full of it, makes no sense! its not heart burn and im able to pass gas so im at a loss!
I have been having sort of a pressure in the URQ of my abdomen right under my right ribs for about a month now. Its kinda hard to describe, but it sometimes feels like I have a sock balled up below my ribs. When I push on it, it sort of gurgles and feels better for a while, but it always comes back. It doesn't really hurt, at most I would call it a gentle pain, more of a discomfort really.
It is causing me a lot of problems, discomfort and pain. The pain is up against or under my ribs and I often feel like I have a pinched side on both sides. Kind of like when you swim after eating. I can't even walk, really. Not normally, I waddle like a duck. Does anyone here have this same problem? Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I would so greatly appreciate any ideas, suggestions or advise.
but man, i have to waddle when i walk since it hurts, even to lift or move my legs, and i have pain under my ribs as well and eating feels like it stretches my stomach or something and is uncomfrotable... well if pregnancy makes it worse i'm praying it gets worse then! : ) In the past it got a little better and in the first pregnancy i stayed hugely bloated and uncomfortable until a couple of weeks after the mc... Anya: good luck tomorrow, i'm sure everything will look great!
How long will this last? It alsmost feels like my intestines are up high under my ribs and when I get in and out of bed it feels as if they move in and out. Its a strange sensation. I just don't know when some of these symptoms should disappear - and if they don't, when I should follow back up with the doctor. Thanks for your feedback!
in the last year i have burning, pain in the right side under ribs through to the back area and in the kidney area. but now for my question i am a 57 yr old woman and i look like i am 9 months pregant. i have been told by doctor that i might need to be tapped for fluid. could this be because of my liver? all of my blood work is good. i don't have a gallbladder. i am 6ft tall and i weight 228lbs and at this time last year my weight was 167lbs, could this extra 61 lbs be fluid?
I also try to avoid too much dairy, rice, pasta, potaot, and onion. This has helped me keep the bloating somewhat under control...but othertimes it is just out of my control. I have also upped the amount of fruit and veggies I eat. I also take a lot of antacids and some Rx's to hep with the heartburn.
I had an ultrasound done last week and found out I have gallstones. I haven't had any major pain but I am uncomfortable under my ribs on the right side and my stomach feels like I'm starving all the time. For the last month I've hardly slept unless I use meds for it, morning nausea, and my digestion is a mess. I'm bloated and gassy almost all the time. I have been referred to a GI doc and now I just have to wait until I can get in there and find out whats next. You are not alone.
Since my hysterectomy 5 years ago, I have had occassional bouts of gut pain (under ribs), bloating (high up under ribs) accompanied by fatique. I have been told that I have Crohn's, but I do not believe it. I definitely have an appetite at all times and I am overweight. I usually have a bowel movement every day. I did convince one doctor that I do not have Crohn's. I've gone quite a while without an episode. Currently I have: *bloating for over a week with almost no relief.
Ihave had persistent lower abdominal bloating, that seemed to come on suddenly about 2 weeks after xmas.New pants I had bought didn't fit 2 weeks after I bought them. I have been working out and firmed up everywhere but there. My abdomen is no bigger but no smaller,Even after taking laxatives, anti gas etc.Plenty of gas, but no gas pains. I now get constipated easily but am eating tons of fibre and drinking water.
Can you locate the bloating (under the ribs, lower abdomen...)? Any pain, and where - upper or lower right or left abdomen ? Any other symptoms like diziness, jaundice, any positive tests so far? How old are you?

My 14 year old daughter was just diagnosed with acid reflux and now she has been experiencing pain in her left side under the rib and in the middle of her back.
For the last few weeks, I been experiencing a lot of constipation, bloating, excessive burping but what is alarming me is that for the last three days I have pain under my right ribs that irradiate to the back. I feel a burning sensation in my stomach and dull pain on my right pelvic area like (ovulating) but I dont have any ovaries.
I've also been experiencing severe bloating pain under the left side of my ribs. I've done some research and am wondering if it has something to do with my pancreas or liver, seeing how that's where the pain is generally located. The pain has gotten so bad that I can barely walk around a grocery store without issues. My diet at this point is chicken noodle since it's the only thing that won't offset the diarrhea quite so bad. I can go 2 days without a bowel movement but when I do it's diarrhea.
I have been having pressure under my right rib cage - it feels like a football is stuffed under it. I had a complete set of blood tests done 4 days ago and everything was normal - except my AST which was slightly elevated (63, normal scale has 37 as a high), but my AST has been slightly elevated for 4 years and past tests (4 years ago) included CT scan, MRI, ultraousnd and hepatitis blood tests all showed nothing wrong. Any idease of what the pressure under my right rib cage may be? Thanks!
