aldara

535760 tn?1213891166 Not wanting to experience this again i would like to try another option because i still have a few tiny warts left and noticed a couple new ones. Is aldara the best way to go? or maybe even cryo? I read aldara is very effective and even builds an immunity?
Avatar f tn No treatment, including imiquimod (Aldara), is more than about 60-70% effective. In theory, Aldara might be better at preventing recurrent warts, but in the real world there is no obvious difference in cure rate or recurrence rate between Aldara and any other treatment. If one method isn't working well, trying another makes sense. Aside from podophyllin and Aldara, other options are freezing, repeated laser- or electrocautery, and trichloroacetic acid.
Avatar m tn and after 2 weeks use i have had good results so far so if i were you i would go see your dermatologist if he recomends surgery set the date for about 1 1/2 months away and get them to prescribe you aldara in the meantime. use aldara and within 4 weeks if the warts have not reduced in size or started to clear then just go in for surgery.
Avatar m tn later you should start the application but only on the warts, visible ones only... do not put aldara on bumps you just think can be warts... you should seek a doctors advice to confirm if those are warts...
Avatar m tn I just started Aldara, two weeks ago and it's going slow for me. Though I only have two warts and one is the first one I ever had, which after 4 acid treatments is still there so it may by scar tissue rather than a live wart at this time. The other is only 2 weeks old and really has not changed at all. So, I can't say how you will react to Aldara, I have read some people have warts gone quickly and some it takes a while. I am just happy not to have any new ones.
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn I have been treating anal warts for 8 weeks with aldara and after about 6 weeks i noticed they were slowly shrinking. While the visible warts are indeed shrinking (almost gone entirely), i know that there are internal ones in my anus that are still there, whether or not the aldara is helping them is undetermined.
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar f tn My doctor did say that it is effective for that time being, but there is a higher chance for the warts to come back because it is only killing the skin cells. She prescribed me Aldara because it can help from within by activating the body's immune system to eliminate cells that have been infected by the virus. And with this, there is a smaller chance that the warts will come back. But if Aldara does not work with me, I will take your advice and use the method of freezing.
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar n tn t resolve over this period that is not a sign that something bad is going to happen however). That you have warts continuing to appear while receiving Aldara treatment is also unusual. If I were you, I would seek the input and care of a dermatologist at this time. Perhaps what you are treating are not warts.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnosed with warts which appeared suddenly after i went of the pill, i have become paranoid about this and it the doc has given me aldara which i used and was sucessful except on 2 stubborn warts but they have now appeared in other places i have ordered more aldara. I would like to know how internal warts are treated and if i take better care of myself if my body could fight them off on its own??
Avatar m tn What are the chances of Genital warts returning after successfully using aldara. I have read that since it is an immune booster that it generally has a very lo recurrence rate but i would like to know if my lifestyle has any influence on that. I am a 24 yr old male who stays in very good shape and eats very healthy. I hardly drink alcohol but i occasionally smoke marijuana and would like to know if that has an adverse effect on my situation.
Avatar m tn hey im a 21 yr old male. i have been using aldara one two very small genital warts (applying as little as possible with a toothpick). anyways despite best efforts the cream has gotten on other parts of my skin near the warts and has almost bleached it white... I have decided to stop using it for this reason even though the warts are not completely gone (i hate aldara now).
Avatar f tn I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too! I also have a decreased appetite although this could be from worry.
Avatar f tn Aldara Cream should be applied 3 times per week to external genital/perianal warts. Aldara Cream treatment should continue until there is total clearance of the genital/perianal warts or for a maximum of 16 weeks." https://www.rxlist.com/aldara-drug.htm#dosage If you decide to use it, please clarify that you understand the instructions, because 3 times a day is VERY different than 3 times a week.
Avatar f tn this comming from a guy, but i was freaked out too, to learn i had genetal warts... i had good sucess with aldara but a couple weeks after i cleared a few new small warts would come up around my inner thigs and pubic bone... i began to read all i could about HPV and viral infections in general be it herpis, cold, flu etc... my final conclusion after reading about all this was i needed to do everything possible to boost my natural imune system... first i quit using tobacco, and using alcohol...
Avatar m tn Some HPV (genital warts do not respond to Aldara or freezing and must be zapped with a CO2 laser or cut out or burned out with the Hyfrecator (sp?) All people with visible genital warts should have them removed ASAP as they can cause cancer in females AND males. Males can get Anal Cancer and females too - Farrah Fawcett has it and it is usually only caused by HPV and unprotected anal sex.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed aldara for the treatment of genital warts about two weeks ago and have used it as directed by my provider. The patch of lesions is located on the shaft of my penis, are small, relatively flat, and 1-2 cm in size. I started aldara therapy roughly two to three weeks after onset of lesions. My only concern is that the Aldera isn't triggering an immune response like it should. I have no erythema, edema or any other typical "side effects".
Avatar m tn The doctor prescribed me Aldara which is a cream to treat genital warts. I was told to apply it 3 times a week, and Ive been doing it so, until a week ago when I researched all about Aldara and it says to do it twice a week. I am currently in week 8. So The warts are gone.. they were gone on week 4, but now the issue is this. As part of the down part of using Aldara is that it makes your skin go red where you apply it. But what happened now is that it burned off a piece of my skin.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed 14 months ago by a Colo-rectal surgeon as having HPV (anal warts) and went through a 8-week somewhat painful application of Veregen, after which the bumps disappeared fully. Oddly they seem to have appeared following irritation from shaving the peri-anal area. Then, 1 month ago, I noticed flatter and more linear/blotchy raised areas appear - this time again, following shaving irritation (I should have learned not to shave this area).
Avatar m tn I posted a question about a month ago regarding genital warts, I can't find the post, so here goes again. A couple of years ago I noticed warts on my anus, I thought they were skin tags so I did nothing about it. Eventually I had them checked, they were warts and I had them removed and was put on Aldara. I used what my dermatologist gave me but I had no insurance so I never actually filled the prescription. The warts came back months later.
Avatar n tn In addition, let me provide some additional thought and then as a question or two. Warts are caused by HPV. Not all warts are genital warts. There are over 100 different HPV types of which most do not typically cause genital warts but instead cause warts and/or infection in other locations (a scientifically interesting thing about HPV is the fact that some types of HPV seem to “favor” different sites to cause infection .
Avatar m tn As the treatment with aldara is over and I still have the pimples and THEY LOOK AND FEEL VERY MUCH LIKE WARTS (I have been browsing the net and looking at some pics) I wonder whether it is worth consulting another physician, going back to the same physician (as he asked) or keep applying aldara. I wonder whether the pimples are really warts. I would like to hear you medical insights. Here are some pics: http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/7070/21092008232lc9.jpg http://img146.imageshack.
Avatar f tn t resolve with trichloroacetic acid, my guess is that they are not active warts -- maybe skin tags or simply hypertrophic (overgrown) tissue -- a form of scar -- where the warts used to be. If skin tags, the imiquimod (Aldara) will have no effect away. If warts, they'll eventually clear up -- either from the treatment, or on their own. And it sounds like your gynecologist was uncertain.
Avatar n tn I noticed small warts on my penis about 1 month ago..doctor prescribed aldara...since then I've had about 10 more grow out..what the hell is up with this crappy *** drug they prescribe to patients??? I took all the STD tests and came out negative...
Avatar m tn dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.
