Zyprexa and depakote

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa and depakote

zyprexa

559058 tn?1215810834 I dont have any bad side effects and even my sex life is great. For me the zyprexa is so much better. I think depakote andlithium should be take off the market. But again thait is my opinion. There are much better meds out there than those two.
Avatar f tn I have tried Seroquel (I reacted badly to that and had to come off it after a week), Depakote (which made me gain weight and left my mood very flat and did not help with the irratibility) as well as various anti-depressants (which of course made bipolar worse) and Metazapine (which caused muscle twitching). Is anybody else taking Zyprexa, if so how have you found it. Any advice, experiences would be much appreciated. I am finding the whole thing very difficult.
Avatar n tn He now takes concerta, welbutrin and zyprexa at 7am, welbutrin again at 4pm, 1500mg of depakote at 6pm and concerta and zyprexa at 8pm. The last two weekends in rw at our house there has not been any problems, no problems sleeping and no sudden mood swings.
497950 tn?1255863927 I am on zyprexa and celexa for my bi polar and they work great. I did gain in the beginning but I have lost it through exercise and 6 healthy meals a day. you can keep from gaining on the zyprexa. Plus I decided that I would rather be stable with the weight than skinny and in jail.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone i was diagnosed with bipolar march 2011 im currently on 2000mg depakote 10 mg zyprexa and a sleeping tablet i have just finished 13 years in armed forces and now wondering what to do next and does it sound like a right combo of meds???
698408 tn?1256958348 If given a choice between an antipsychotic (Zyprexa) and a mood stabilizer (Depakoate) I would choose Depakoate. Zyprexa does have the risk of tardive dyskinesia. If a person needs an antipsychotic of course they have to take one but Depakoate does not have that risk. Zyprexa also has a severe risk for diabetes. All of the atypicals do but Zyprexa is most likely to.
874521 tn?1424116797 From what I remember Depakoate and Zyprexa both were extremely sedating for me and Depakoate in general works better on mania than depression. But its better to wait to speak to his psychiatrist before making any changes. Abilify is an antipsychotic that is the least sedating and Lamictal is less sedating than Depakoate and works better on depression. You could ask his psychiatrist about that.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar n tn 2 @ bedtime) comb/w klonopin 1 mg (1 tab 2x daily) comb/w Zyprexa 5 mg (1 tab 2x daily) This combination seemed over the top and precipitated some manic behavior. All of this medication was removed and Depakote 250 mg (1 tab 3x daily) was issued as it's replacement. Im probably borderline in some capacity with a touch of seasonal affective disorder.
Avatar n tn I have been on 1500mg of depakote for 6 months for bipolar disorder and I was wondering does anybody know how to get off this stuff without all the seizures and withdrawals. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am currently 26 and just about impotent, i can still get it up but it takes quite a bit of coaxing, i feel blessed that i can get it up at all after years of risperdal depakote seroquel and now im currently on zyprexa, i think shrinks are the biggest quacks and think you should check out this site http://www.stopshrinks.
Avatar n tn I'm on Lithium, and it's a very safe drug - extremely high doses have to be monitored careful, like many other drugs. I get my blood sugars checked for Seroqual, which I don't mind, it's a fantastic drug along with Lithium. I was on Lamactil alone but I became suicidal again, my pdoc put me on 300mgs of Lithium and it was only 2 days and wow what a difference. Since then, I've only had minimal depression. .
Avatar n tn I currently take 30 mg. of zyprexa,. 1500 mg. depakote, 2 mg. benztropine, 50 mg. of risperdone, and 50 mg. testim . I have gained 70 pounds of fat. When I'm not in a mania I sleep from the zyprexa for 12 hours a night. My anxiety is so high and from all of the side affects, just to name a few I have had diarrhea for the last three years, retrograde ejaculation, weight gain, restless legs syndrome.
Avatar f tn jHas anyone tried taking two antidepressants along with a mood stabilizer and had good results? I'm currently taking Depakote and Cymbalta, but thinking of adding Prozac for added depression benefits. I'm also on an antipsychotic, Geodon.
Avatar f tn At the mo ive stopped taking my meds and finding it hard, can anyone help please? And im in england so dont know what meds we have here to help me?
Avatar f tn When I had episode 3 ,I thought I had found the lord and I was healed of bi polar and didnt need to take my meds anymore so episode 3 happened and I was back in the hospital back with the same pdoc and he put me back on the zyprexa, celexa, as well as tegretol. I then went back to the pdoc I found after episode2 I told I didnt think I needed the tegretol any more but we decided to stay on the celexa, zyprexa combo and it works great. I know that is confusing .
Avatar f tn before that i had been on ativan since may 09,,and in jan a dr tried me on lithium depakote and zyprexa all during the month of jan....the last one i was on was zyprexa and stopped it march 2 after only being on it about 2 weeks....im feeling more active than i had been on the prozac but abit more sadness for some reason so dr is upping it to 40 mg////i cnat take it in the am as most people do as it makes me so drowsy....
1134609 tn?1269272200 I guess I should be hopeful, in some ways. When I took the 50mg dose that afternoon, I evened out straight off of the bat. My shrink doesn't really have much of a choice right now as the Zyprexa and Depakote aren't options. I think that we just need to do it slower and that I need to split my dose between the morning and noon; 125mgs when I wake up and 100 at lunch, to start with.
Avatar m tn Topamax was prescribed to counteract the weight gain from Zyprexa and then Abilify. I am going to see my pdoc about my metformin venture. I had a saliva test done recently and found my seritonin level was extremely low. Started Deplin and 5HTP and stopped all AD's what a difference.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have tried a number of medications at different times, usually a combination of 2 or 3 of the following: lithium, prozac, lexapro, seroquel, abilify, risperdal, klonopin, vistaril, zyprexa, ambien, rozerem, & depakote. Zyprexa, Benadryl, Depakote, and Seroquel have caused me to twitch and feel like my skin is crawling an hour (or a few) after I take them.
574118 tn?1305135284 The psychiatrists that I have had in the past have put me on a high dose at first (lithium, depakote, and or Seroquel) and then will gradually lower the dosage down to the therapeutic range once I get stable. Once my lithium was too high, I started vomitting. So the doctor had to adjust it With lithium there are alot of blood test that one will go through to find the right dosage. With the aspergers patient the dosage for Zyprexa will be totally different than for bipolar.
Avatar n tn As anti-psychotics can create diabetes and tardive dyskinesia if a person has straight bipolar (as opposed to bipolar with psychotic features where an anti-psychotic is absolutely needed) there is the potential to change to a mood stabilizer, none of which have the risk of creating tardive dyskinesia and out of all of them Lamictal has the least potential for weight gain and is generally safe and effective. Perhaps you could ask your psychiatrist about Lamictal.
Avatar f tn Based on my pharmacy tech knowledge, I came up with a new one called Stavzor, then loxapine, tamoxifen and olanzapine (zyprexa) and risperdal and mirtazapine. These are available in the UK (according to the net...so I hope I am right.) The tamoxifen is mostly for the mania though. The mirtazapine is for the depression....which I think you should have one of each to stabalize. Also, you have to be careful in how you ask for different pills....
Avatar f tn I waz on and i had a reaction to it its got an ingredient in it and caused me to lactate not bein pregnant and zyprexa i gained alot of weight like 20lb in a month
Avatar f tn the other 3 I cant remember but it made me feel so doped up I switched docs and and she put me on 2 celexa and zyprexa and they have worked wonderful for me. No dopey drugged feeling. Just nice stable everyday normal living. Its seems to me that alot of docs tend to overprescribe when all is need for bi polar is a good mood stabilizer and a good anti depressant I could be wrong since I am not a doc . I am just a bi polar (in remission lol)who has been on alot of meds.
Avatar m tn Some of the one I am familiar with are Abilify, Geodon, Depakote, Lamictal, Lithium, Remeron, Aoloft, Prozac, and many many more. You may want to post and ask for a website link to get more info. I know one site www. NAMI.org is very good and has links. I think it boils down to good old fashion research. Usually it's a combination of 2 or 3 meds to treat the different symtoms of Bipolar. Most people are not on just one med.
