Zoloft withdrawal symptoms anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft withdrawal symptoms anxiety

zoloft

Avatar n tn She needs to let her doctor know how she is feeling, this can be withdrawal, the two medications, or Zoloft may not be the right medication for her. Either way, she needs to do this under the guidance of a psychiatrist. If it were me, I'd go back on the Effexor and find a qualified psychiatrist. Take care.
Avatar f tn No, your problem is withdrawal. This happens when you stop taking these drugs, and is worse if you stop taking them abruptly. All your symptoms are withdrawal symptoms.
1612112 tn?1298347577 What you describe sounds to me like withdrawal symptoms initially (the brain zaps, etc), but the later symptoms (chest pain, etc) sound like classic rebound anxiety, which is very common after d/c-ing these meds. I understand that you're in a rough spot b/c of the inability to afford the care and meds you may need, but I would strongly recommend looking into what options may be out there for you...financial assistance, etc.
Avatar n tn I have been on paxil 20mg for about 6 years for intense anxiety. I have been trying to get pregnant recently so my ob/gyn changed my medicine to zoloft 25mg. He told me to stop taking the paxil and take the zoloft the very next day, and from then on. I have been on zoloft 25mg for the past 3 weeks, and now the horrible withdrawal symptoms have seemed to die down. I wasn't feeling quite up to par last week so i went back to the doctor and he switched me to 50mg of zoloft.
Avatar f tn Finally 3 months ago i decided to abandon this medication as it has lift its efficacy and had made me numb. The withdrawal symptoms have been disastrous. I thought all withdrawal symptoms were gone when suddenly i had drowsiness and later vomited and felt weak all day long. It seems to me that the withdrawal symptoms continue for a long time. Some have subsided while others are emerging.
Avatar m tn i too am on 50mg of zoloft. it helped alot with my anxiety. its worth it. hang in there. best wishes.
Avatar m tn m currently going through Zoloft withdrawals and have many of the typical Zoloft withdrawal symptoms. I was just wondering if taking a Vicodin will interfere with the recovery of my Zoloft withdrawal? Could I have done any permanent brain damage from taking a Vicodin since my brain is in recovery mode? This is the first Vicodin I have taken since I stopped taking the Zoloft.
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear about your experience with Zoloft. I took it three years ago after suffering my first panic attack and continued on it for a year and came off of it slowly with advice from my doctor. I too had withdrawal effects but was able to come off of it for years. I am back on it with the return of my anxiety. While I respect your opinion, remember, that these medications affect people differently.
1041243 tn?1375230520 A week ago my psychiatrist stopped my 200 mgs of zoloft and started me on luvox 50 mgs a day for the first two weeks then 100 mgs a day there after. A couple days later I started expiriencing major withdrawal symptoms, severe anxiety and panic (more so than usual), insomnia, and some slight agoraphobia (I don't like to leave the house, but I will if I need too) and even stronger ocd symptoms.
Avatar m tn I was just prescribed zoloft (50mg) for anxiety and depression. I haven't started taking it yet because I'm afraid that: 1. I'll become addicted to it 2. If I have to stop taking it (tapering off of it versus stopping cold turkey) that I won't be able to and/or I'll experience all the withdraw symptoms Is 50mg too much? The pharmacist who filled my medication said that it would help initially and then could make the symptoms worse, has anyone experienced this?
Avatar f tn m by no means a doctor or specialist in this field, but hormonal imbalances due to thyroid dysfunction can lead to anxiety and depression. I had anxiety for years, even on zoloft, but after began a steady dose of synthroid, my anxiety completely vanished. I understand it somewhat like this: When the body registers not having enough thyroid hormones, it will use other glands (such as the adrenal gland) to compensate for what's missing.
Avatar m tn Did you just quite taking the Zoloft cold turkey? You can definitely have withdrawal symptoms from discontinuing an SSRI like Zoloft too quickly. Also, don't adjust your medication without the advice of your doctor as well. In my opinion, it was obviously working. Many people stop taking it because they are feeling normal; remember that they are designed to help you feel 'normal.
Avatar n tn -brain zaps -depression -anxiety -panic attacks -agitation -irritability -mood swings -changes in blood pressure/heart rate -muscle tensions -aches and pains I could name some other too but you get the picture that you should slowly tapper the medication to avoid severe withdrawal symptoms and do it on the supervision of a physician. The symptoms and the severity of those is relative to your brain chemistry and how long you've been on the drug.
Avatar f tn d ride out the possible withdrawal symptoms you perceive. I really dont understand why you were put on ZOLOFT for anxiety or stress, but I admit we see patients put on antidepressants for all kinds of other reasons now a days.
Avatar f tn hi i am new in this group find out from a doctor i have anxiety and depression they called it situantional anxiety and depression.he precribed me Zoloft on Sept 14th was nervious before taking it did have some side effects but went away like itching then longer i took the itching got worse and felt like flu like systems had a low grade fever 99.0. found out from my primary doctor had sinus infection took meds for the infection finished medicine felt better.
1131131 tn?1275108488 I have been on it for six days and some of the same symptoms are starting again plus muscle tightness in the chest and throat. She told me to stop the zoloft. I asked if I should titrate it, but I was told to just stop it. She wants me to start seeing a Psychiatrist for my meds. I agree, but I am worried about any withdrawls I may have from stopping the med like that.
Avatar f tn Talk therapy has taught me a lot about UNDERSTANDING anxiety and how it works, and how the body works. It makes all my symptoms if I ever do go through anxiety, feel like they are nothing but just sensations. They can't harm me.. and it's just my CNS being sensitive and misfiring. But like all wounds, over time, it heals. Anxiety may come again for me in a few months (i tend to go through spurts of anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have generalized anxiety disorder and agoraphobia, diagnosed 13 yrs. ago. Started Zoloft 13 yrs. ago along with as needed Clonazepam for breakthrough. I was up to 150 mg. of Zoloft. This worked great for me for all of these yrs. but recently started having more panic attacks. Went to my regular Dr., and she took me off Zoloft immediately and put me on Fluoxetine 20 mg. X 1 week and then bumped me to 40 mg. I experiended severe nausea and no appetite.
785176 tn?1236416509 Hi! All of those symptoms are withdrawal symptoms (from what I've read and what my dr has told me). How far along are you? I am 23 weeks and have been completely off of Zoloft for two weeks now, but I weanied myself over a two and half month process. My Dr. told me that it was important to be off my the third trimester if possible, but that if my anxiety got out of control that it was not the end of the world to have to go back on it.
Avatar f tn It most likely is withdrawal. It's dangerous to not take these types of medications as prescribed, and you never want to abruptly just stop these types of medications due to withdrawal. I assume and hope that the Zoloft was prescribed by a psychaitrist? If so he would be able to tell you how to taper off. Also, being without the medication may be causing you anxiety, which in turn will cause your current symptoms. All this may also mean you still need the medication.
Avatar f tn Did you taper slowly off the Zoloft or quit abruptly? Either way, it can be withdrawal from stopping the Zoloft -- it needs to be stopped as slowly as suits the particular individual and even then most people get withdrawal symptoms when stopping it, some moderate, some severe., some for a very short time, some for a very long time.
Avatar f tn I went off of Lexapro because my dr. said that I didn't need them anymore and that I didn't need the therapy anymore. I agreed with him at the time because he's the one with the degree. My withdrawal symptoms or anxiety (which ever) didn't seem to come for about 2 weeks after I stopped taking it. I loved Lexapro! I have been on so many different meds and this by far has helped me the most. Good luck and thanks for the response.
