Avatar f tn Did you taper slowly off the Zoloft or quit abruptly? Either way, it can be withdrawal from stopping the Zoloft -- it needs to be stopped as slowly as suits the particular individual and even then most people get withdrawal symptoms when stopping it, some moderate, some severe., some for a very short time, some for a very long time.
785176 tn?1236416509 Hi! All of those symptoms are withdrawal symptoms (from what I've read and what my dr has told me). How far along are you? I am 23 weeks and have been completely off of Zoloft for two weeks now, but I weanied myself over a two and half month process. My Dr. told me that it was important to be off my the third trimester if possible, but that if my anxiety got out of control that it was not the end of the world to have to go back on it.
Avatar f tn i have been on 50 mg of zoloft for about 9 yrs. I have tried weaning off it several times but I couldn't handle the withdrawal symptoms. I finally am determined to do this. It has been 1 week and a day since my last dosage(of course I decreased my dosage slowly) but i was wondering how long do the brain zaps and dizziness last for?
20501556 tn?1499447492 No. She has renal failure. When kidneys don't work, you don't pee properly, and stuff builds up. If they've fixed it, it will start to pour out. If they haven't fixed it, the whole urinary tract will be off. Signs of Zoloft withdrawal, and you don't say if she's still off it, would more likely be nausea, disorientation, dizziness, anxiety, depression, insomnia, irritation, something that resembles the flu.
Avatar n tn I have taken 200 - 300 mg Zoloft/ day for depression and anxiety for about 5 years. Last year, in consultation with both my doctor and my talk therapist, I began to wean myself off because of sexual dysfunction and reduced feelings in general. I went down from 300mg per day to nothing over about 6 months, halving at each step, even slower than advised by my psychiatrist, just to be safe. For the last week I have not been taking any.
761614 tn?1234300320 Anti-depressants, such as Zoloft do not normally present significant withdrawal symptoms, but, as with any psychotropic medication it's best to seek to advice of your physician before discontinuing it. If you choose to do so without the advice of a doctor, it is best to slowly reuce your dosage each week until such time you are completely free from the drug. You may still experience strange sensations, such as dizziness, sweats, confusion, etc.
Avatar f tn Finally 3 months ago i decided to abandon this medication as it has lift its efficacy and had made me numb. The withdrawal symptoms have been disastrous. I thought all withdrawal symptoms were gone when suddenly i had drowsiness and later vomited and felt weak all day long. It seems to me that the withdrawal symptoms continue for a long time. Some have subsided while others are emerging.
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft for depression for about 6 months after trying Prozac, Effexor, and a bunch of different combinations of sedatives, sleep aids, and antipsychotics. I was up to 300 mg, but the side effects, including horrible headaches, insomnia, nightmares, GI upset, and emotional numbness, never went away. I started to taper down with my psychopharmacologist's help. I tapered down to 50 mg, but my psychopharmacologist didn't want me to completely go off of it.
Avatar m tn If you're taking Zoloft because you haven't been able to treat your anxiety in therapy, I'd ask, how's your anxiety doing? The reason is that dizziness and lightheadedness are symptoms of anxiety, and taking an antidepressant doesn't mean you're free of anxiety. Often, it just means it's not as bad, the best I've ever gotten. Often, it doesn't work very well. Often, it stops working.
Avatar f tn I have posted here before about Lexapro pooping out after 10 years...bummer! I suffer from pretty bad gad and panic. My psychiatrist basically refused to put me on another SSRI and insisted on Effexor. I find Effexor too stimulating. I didn't care for this doc from the jump and have now found a new one. New doc says Effexor is a good drug for very depressed people but not for primary anxiety. She is taking me off Effexor 75 mg and onto Zoloft. I have only been on Effexor 6 1/2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I have taken zoloft for many years now, and have never had dizziness from it, nor have i heard of anyone else getting dizzy on zoloft. Plus, this is a very low dose, so any side effects you might have would be very mild.
94902 tn?1330479667 t help but to think - what if its something else and not the Zoloft withdrawal. Anyone had experience coming off of Zoloft? Or had the funny head feelings that I mentioned above? Any comments would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I would not recommend Zoloft. On another Depression web site, there's a long thread about how bad the withdrawal symptoms are from it. I have chronic pain and I've done the opiate withdrawal and IT *****! I would like to get off my pain meds but it's either just been too hard or I have too much pain. Can't win, but less would be better. Therefore, the Zoloft my PCP doc recently prescribed I am not going to take.....took it for a week and then saw those posts! Wow!
Avatar f tn I am experiencing dizziness at times and wondering if this is due to not taking my medicine.
Avatar f tn This is my first time posting on any of these forums. I have read others' experiences of coming off SSRIs and wanted to get opinions on my situation. I'm 19 and started taking Zoloft (Sertraline 50mg) in June last year after a very difficult year of anxiety. I didn't want medication to be a long-term thing for me, so I focused a lot on CBT and only took meds for six months or so. I am now completely off the Zoloft and haven't taken any for almost two weeks.
Avatar m tn Also, if you were on Zoloft and stopped it abruptly you could be having withdrawal symptoms. These include dizziness and muscle twitching. They will go away.
Avatar n tn Hi, The possible causes of your symptoms are - medication withdrawal, heat stroke, dehydration, low blood sugar, side effect of the medication you are taking or vaso vagal syncope. There is no way to attribute the symptoms to any one diagnosis without a complete clinical examination. You should consult your doctor about the symptoms you are having. Post us about any doubts that you have. Regards.
Avatar m tn If you stop abruptly, you may experience a number of unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as crying spells, extreme restlessness, dizziness, fatigue, and aches and pains. These withdrawal symptoms are known as antidepressant discontinuation syndrome. Antidepressant discontinuation syndrome is especially common when you stop taking Paxil or Zoloft. However, all medications for depression can cause withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn The withdrawal concerns are real, and dizziness is one of the most common. But your problem isn't dizziness, it's worrying obsessively. Zoloft can help with this, but it won't cure it. As for side effects, the withdrawal and the side effects of being on a drug are very different for different people, so we can't generalize. I always caution that people should exhaust every other option before turning to medication, but everyone gets to make their own choices.
Avatar n tn You need a psychiatrist who understands these meds, not a psychologist or a regular doc. You're suffering Paxil withdrawal. Zoloft will not necessarily do anything about this, since all meds act differently in the body. Paxil is a particularly difficult med to quit; it needs to be done slowly and carefully, and switching ot another med won't necessarily help with this.
Avatar f tn Thanks for ur comments. I just wonder is there anyway to get out off Xanax's withdrawal symptoms?? Or how long will it last?? Will I be fully recover??
