Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.

I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!

I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?

Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.

I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.

Truthfully, I've heard one of the best MS Clinics in the US is the Mellen Center at Cleveland Clinic. You might try checking out http://www.mscare.org They list all the clinics available, etc. My neuro said the clinic at Cincinatti isn't that great but thinks Cleveland Clinic is really good. I've never heard of the Mayo Clinic being highly rated for MS, but more for heart desease.

I decided that I should travel to the United States and hopefully get a diagnosis. I know that Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have a good dysautonomia clinics but I don't know which one should I choose so I would appreciate any suggestions !!! Also I know healthcare in the US is so expensive and since I don't have insurance I wonder how much such a visit to one of those hospitals will roughly cost ?I know it's hard to tell but I'm asking for a roughly cost. These do not sound like side effects of the Prozac, which really hasn't taken effect yet even for side effects. These are instead classic withdrawal effects of quitting an ssri or snri. Did you taper off the Zoloft slowly, or quit abruptly?

m not sure if it works the same way at Mayo as it does at Cleveland Clinic, but now that you are an established patient there, you should be able to get some additional guidance by phone.

I was completely unsure what was wrong with me. I thought I might have been suffering withdrawal from Zoloft. I also thought it could have been the weed (which made less sense). Then I started thinking about that disgusting liquid antidepressant my mom suggested I take once. Then my mom admitted that she had mixed two different antidepressants in liquid form AND gave me a .75 dose instead of a .50 dose which was recommended for my brother (for just one of the antidepressant solutions).

Maybe I was too harsh about Mayo. To be fair to Mayo Clinic, I do think they do have some very good doctors there, maybe it's just hard to get a neuro diagnosis - as it seems to be most other places in this country - so what's new? I did really think the Mayo radiologist who looked at my films was excellent - he found a couple of things the original outside radiologist did not notice such as brain mass loss.

Im 33 years old and just moved to tx and was denied medicaid and I can not get my Zoloft. I ran out 3 days ago and im feeling like crap. Im dizzy, have a huge migraine,and Im so tired. How long will this last. I have been taking for 8 months.

t hear back from them right away - I requested an appointment with the Mayo Clinic and it was almost a year before I heard back from them! If your current docs office does the request/referral, though, it should go a lot faster.

Does Tramadol have as much SSRI in it as Zoloft? Does 100mg of Tramadol have as much SSRI as say 50mg of Zoloft? I was taking Tramadol while I was going through Zoloft withdrawal and I'm just wondering if I stunted the healing process of my Zoloft withdrawal. My body and mind still don't feel 100% since quitting Zoloft, but it's definitely getting better.

I stopped taking Zoloft (100mg once a day) a few days ago. I had no withdrawal at all. This morning I woke up with the most intense vertigo and nausea I've ever had. I have a fear of throwing up so I'm on the verge of tears because I do not want to throw up. I tried eating and I even took 50mg of Zoloft to see if that was the problem. But it's been 3 hours and I'm sitting here at work wondering if I should go home or if it's even safe for me to drive.

Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic are obviously both top-flight medical centers, so the choice between the two would not be so much "which is better, Cleveland or Mayo;" it would be which one has a doctor or program that is more specialized to what you need.

I went to the Mayo Clinic in AZ in January - hoping to find some answers. I will say that it is a very well run facility - but don't pin your hopes on a big "well known" facility to solve everything for you. The neurologist that I saw at the Mayo clinic didn't want to see my timeline or my list of symptoms - although at the end of my initial appointment, he did take my list of symptoms to include in my chart.

I was just wondering if taking a Vicodin will interfere with the recovery of my Zoloft withdrawal?

I used the exact same tapering schedule to wean myself off Zoloft. In my case, I didn't experience any withdrawal effects.

In October 2008, I was put on 60mg of Prednisone after liver biopsy revealed a rapid progression from an earlier biopsy, I now had non-alcoholic cirrhosis. In March 2009 at the Mayo Clinic I was diagnosed with AIH (autoimmune hepatitis) with non-alcoholic cirrhosis. I was placed on 50mg of Imuran, which was adjusted to 100mg and my Prednisone was gradually reduced 10mg. In September 2010 my Prednisone was being reduced by 2.5 every 6 weeks.
