Zoloft withdrawal side effects list

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft withdrawal side effects list

zoloft

Avatar f tn What you're now on is Prozac. Two problems potentially here. First, you can't just quit Zoloft -- you need to taper off it as most people get some withdrawal from quitting these meds. That most likely explains your symptoms more so than the Prozac. Often, at the tail end of a taper down, Prozac will be used to help when withdrawal is bad because it's considered easier to stop taking, but that's only at the very end of the taper.
10361664 tn?1409609407 This is my opinion, but this isn't a good idea. Paxil is very hard to quit taking and needs to be tapered off of slowly, but it's best to do this before starting a new medication. Zoloft cannot substitute for Paxil, as they're very different in the receptors they target and Paxil is one unique drug.

Avatar m tn //mentalhealthdaily.com/2014/04/15/zoloft-sertraline-withdrawal-symptoms-list-duration/ I was listening to a song I always use to think was very catchy before I took Zoloft, and now I can't figure out what was so appealing about the song. Do you think that's from lack of emotion combined with the other symptoms I've been having?
990051 tn?1249190363 I became narcoleptic and I gained a tremendous amount of weight in a very short time (from a health 180 pounds to 218 pounds in about 8 months.) Due to the side effects of weight gain and wanting to sleep ALL the time, I stopped. I believe I stopped cold turkey; I just didn't want to deal with it anymore and I wanted it out of my system. I have remained on a low-dose benzo regime since then which still works for me despite lots of reports that benzos become ineffective after time.
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
1473147 tn?1286917921 I have been on paxil for 10 years now I have put on about 100lbs . Avatar f tn If you go on the official Zoloft website it will list all the side effects that i described to her. She spoke to me on speaker phone which i thought was very rude and i asked her if she got the messages that i called her and she said yes but didnt have the time to call me back. on the prescription notes that you get with your prescriptions they say to contact your doctor immediately if you have any side effects and after TWO weeks she calls me back. her staff is extremely rude.
Avatar f tn All medications have side effects. All of them. Some of us are lucky and don't get them, but there aren't any meds that don't have side effects. Our bodies evolved to eat, not to take meds. This problem is multiplied when you start on more than one drug at a time. I see why you did that, as you were apparently treating withdrawal problems, but start up side effects are pretty common.
Avatar n tn t taper off as you should have done before starting the Zoloft. It could be side effects of the Zoloft, which you should have tapered up on slowly to get your brain used to it. It could be overdosing on serotonin, as you're still on the Effexor. And it could be just your same old problems never having been cured in therapy but just suppressed by meds that aren't currently working.
Avatar f tn Hello! I found Zoloft working well at 50 mg. for me. I was up to 100 mg. and had bad side effects, but everyone's body reacts differently to this drug. Thank you for responding. I'm hoping that the side effects will be gone by the end of this month. I'm going to see a therapist tomorrow. I would like to start cognitive behavioral therapy. I believe this will help during my difficult time. Thank you for responding! Do you mind me asking what your doctor switched you too?
Avatar m tn It takes 4-6 weeks for it to work, but unfortunately the side effects start right away. But withdrawal usually doesn't happen unless the drug has been well metabolized, worked, and was in the system long enough for the brain to have problems operating without the drug. That doesn't fit your case, though there are always exceptions, but it might explain why the psychiatrist wasn't all that concerned.
Avatar n tn I took it three years ago after suffering my first panic attack and continued on it for a year and came off of it slowly with advice from my doctor. I too had withdrawal effects but was able to come off of it for years. I am back on it with the return of my anxiety. While I respect your opinion, remember, that these medications affect people differently.
Avatar f tn ll know for certain which effects are from the Effexor withdrawal, if any, and which are side effects of the Zoloft. Good luck either way.
Avatar f tn Will stop taking Xanax for 1 month, then suddenly take one, and stop it cause severe withdrawal side effects?
Avatar n tn How quickly did you go off the Paxil to the Zoloft? It sounds like you've got some withdrawal mixed in with side effects, especially since the Paxil is making you feel better. It's a very tough drug to quit for many people, and if you move quickly from drug to drug you don't know if it's withdrawal from the old drug or the new drug.
Avatar m tn When I took Zoloft a few years ago I had a terrible time with it. My shrink took me off it because the side effects were so bad. Zoloft effects people different ways but for me I had the ear ringing, stomach problems, headaches and felt disconnected. Can you ask your dr for something different? I think Paxil, Prozac and Zoloft are all in the same "family" but your dr would know better. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn t taken effect yet even for side effects. These are instead classic withdrawal effects of quitting an ssri or snri. Did you taper off the Zoloft slowly, or quit abruptly? Not to say some of these might not be side effects of starting Prozac, but again, if you look up side effects of withdrawal when you quit one of these drugs, you'll see the ones you're describing -- crying fits, electric shocks, vertigo, nausea are withdrawal effects.
Avatar m tn my doctor pescribed my this. what are the side effects of zoloft? should i bother with this drug or is it not worht it?
94902 tn?1330479667 Last wednesday I had my last partial dose and have had none since. I remember before when I went off of Zoloft having some weird withdrawal side effects, but this is the longest I've been on it and I don't remember them being as bad as what I am having now. I just want to know if anyone else has ever had this...............I'm not having the brain "zaps" that most people complain about.
Avatar f tn Remember, side effects start before effects. Not saying this is impossible, I would never say anything is impossible with drugs that affect the brain, but is it possible you were on another medication before going on the Zoloft that you might be suffering withdrawal from? You were also on an extremely low dose. Not ruling your theory out, but would suggest looking for an alternative theory so you don't miss anything here.
Avatar f tn But because you started a new drug, some of this could be side effects of the new drug and some could be withdrawal effects from the old one, or all the effects could be withdrawal or all could be from the new drug. You have no way of knowing, as your brain is essentially trying to recover from one drug while trying to learn how to work with the other at the same time. Not easy to do.
1722607 tn?1335747858 Buspirone is prescribed for patients who have generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Side effects of buspirone include dry mouth, nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea, headaches, constipation, dizziness and upset stomach. Antidepressants The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) states that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are the first choice for anxiety medication.
Avatar m tn I was on Zoloft 3 years ago for anxiety and panic. I did not notice any side effects (sexual, physical, emotional), I would dirnk alcohol ans everything seemed fine. I was on Zoloft for 2 years and it worked for me. I stopped about three years ago and i was fine until recently (anxiety, heart skipping beats, fatigue, etc.) as the stress in my life has picked up.
Avatar f tn I too have been on Zoloft and came off of it with some side effects but I did this with consultation with the doctor which helped minimize the effects of coming off of it. While there were some side effects in my experience, they did subside, but I was also talking it over with a therapist during all of this.
