Zoloft withdrawal insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft withdrawal insomnia

zoloft

1041243 tn?1375230520 Luvox is a different med, and won't necessarily substitute for Zoloft even though both are ssris. I believe the safe way to do this is to slowly taper off the Zoloft and when you're about done, assuming you don't have significant withdrawal, slowly substitute the Luvox. What you're suffering now appears to be withdrawal from abruptly terminating the Zoloft.
Avatar f tn Well I suffer from panic attacks and horrible insomnia anyways, after I got on the right dose for my zoloft I quit having panic attacks and my moods were stable, but my insomnia never got any better, and I've tried probably every sleeping pill you can think of, my insomnia has gotten better now though. Please listen to me though, if you get worried about your weight, get off of it now while you can.
20501556 tn?1499447492 No. She has renal failure. When kidneys don't work, you don't pee properly, and stuff builds up. If they've fixed it, it will start to pour out. If they haven't fixed it, the whole urinary tract will be off. Signs of Zoloft withdrawal, and you don't say if she's still off it, would more likely be nausea, disorientation, dizziness, anxiety, depression, insomnia, irritation, something that resembles the flu.
Avatar f tn How long have you been on Zoloft? It can have some insomnia side effects. Vistaril can help with sleep while you are weaning off Klonopin. Chamomile tea is great too!
Avatar n tn I had no choice but to go back on and tapering did not help. I had months withdrawal even taking Zoloft. My opioid withdrawal lasted 3 days and was not as severe.
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft for depression for about 6 months after trying Prozac, Effexor, and a bunch of different combinations of sedatives, sleep aids, and antipsychotics. I was up to 300 mg, but the side effects, including horrible headaches, insomnia, nightmares, GI upset, and emotional numbness, never went away. I started to taper down with my psychopharmacologist's help. I tapered down to 50 mg, but my psychopharmacologist didn't want me to completely go off of it.
Avatar f tn s worth, is that if the insomnia lasts for a long time you might have to consider going back on the Zoloft and tapering even more slowly. Hard to think you could do it any slower than you did, but there are lots of people who just have a devil of a time stopping these drugs. The BP is more iffy, so can't say about that except to say that, like you, it does seem an odd coincidence.
Avatar f tn I would not recommend Zoloft. On another Depression web site, there's a long thread about how bad the withdrawal symptoms are from it. I have chronic pain and I've done the opiate withdrawal and IT *****! I would like to get off my pain meds but it's either just been too hard or I have too much pain. Can't win, but less would be better. Therefore, the Zoloft my PCP doc recently prescribed I am not going to take.....took it for a week and then saw those posts! Wow!
1995824 tn?1330379049 This is long and I apologize for that. I have only been on triple treatment for a week and a few days - incivek, riba, and interferon. My second shot was on Friday. Although my first week side effects were tolerable, I have been brought to my knees this week-end and totally understand what people are talking about when it comes to dizziness and nausea and headache! My main issue, however, is sleep - or lack thereof.
Avatar n tn Since March 2009 I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft a day. I wasn't happy about starting the meds but it was for a good reason. I recently saw my doctor and she and I both felt I was ready to stop so for three weeks I took 25 mg a day then for one week I took 25 mg every other day, for the past week I haven't taken any.
Avatar n tn Like many, I'm having trouble getting off of Zoloft. I have been on 50mg a day for about 3 years. Under my doctor's care it was recommended that I taper the dose by half over a couple of weeks. I've taken 25mg for 6 days and I feel awful. Not "awful" in terms of depression, but rather I feel like I have the flu. I have a cough, my eyes hurt, and I have a headache. Not to mention, the standard insomnia and night sweats.
534105 tn?1226157177 re suffering unresolved withdrawal from abruptly stopping Soma, even though you were only on it for a month. Insomnia is the most common long-term withdrawal effect for those who have long-term withdrawals. It might be the solution, depending on how long ago you quit the Soma, is to go back on that drug and taper off slowly as you obviously needed to do. But it's your body and you know what's happening better than I do.
Avatar n tn Right now I am a little anxious but manageable and have a horrible headache. I would probably have major anxiety, insomnia and headaches, panic attacks, etc without the Zoloft and Elavil. I would be in bad shape without those medications. I did feel worse today then yesterday. The Zoloft and Elavil in high doses have helped my withdrawal by 70%. I definitely wouldn't advise going cold turkey. You would be miserable, instead of just moderately uncomfortable.
1282280 tn?1285086420 i was diagnosed with sleep insomnia, ptsd, panic disorder, and major depresive disorder a little over a yr. ago. at first, the dr's just had me on a low dose of zoloft to see if it would help. tho it did help with the depression and a little with the anxiety, i still couldn't sleep. after raising the dose of my zoloft a few more times, and trying seroquil, the dr's finally put me on ambien when i couldn't sleep.
Avatar f tn i know pregnancy makes things a lot different but while i was taking it my dr suggested i take it right when i wake up to avoid the insomnia.. turns out Zoloft made me sleep so i took it at night instead.. play around with the time of day you take it and it should all come together. Good luck..that medication was great to me.
Avatar n tn I have been on a slew of psychiatric meds since last March including Ambien, Ambien CR, Effexor, Lexapro, Trazodone and now Zoloft and Clonazepam. Most SSRIs cause me to have insomnia which is why my psych prescribed Trazodone. However, I had a very bad experience two weeks ago where I even had to call 911 because I felt like I was having a heart attack. I know what a panic attack is and this was not anything like I had experienced before.
Avatar f tn I am nearing the end of a 5 year Mirena therefore my doc and I are figuring it is a hormonal imbalance issue. I started Zoloft 2 weeks ago, 25mg for the first week then 50 mgs this last week. I also have begun a new birth control 6 days ago in hopes it will start leveling hormones back out. This last week I noticed a difference in elevated moods and possibly slightly better anxiety but not much.
8265858 tn?1403378544 As you already know, it usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms of acute withdrawal, followed by several months of just insomnia and general weakness and depression. A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia.
497348 tn?1283436066 Since this post, have you started taking the celexa? I took it for one month two months ago. The only symptoms I had were trouble sleeping and I could not orgasm. It helped me with anxiety though and when I got angry, I did not get as agitated as usual. I then tried zoloft and experienced the same symptoms only worse insomnia and I didn't feel like it helped my anxiety. Oh, and I did not have withdrawl symptoms.
