Zoloft with or without food

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft with or without food

zoloft

Avatar m tn Would I have to gradually add these and take simultaneously with Zoloft? Is it safe to take one or both of these with zoloft? If so, what dosage? Also, is it safe to take zoloft while taking natural harmones ( cream)?
Avatar f tn She even got anxiety in a restaurant the other night as soon as we walked in and she smelled the food. She was put on zoloft 25 mg about 3 mo ago. Her dr sent her to a therapist but that with medicine didn't really help. The therapist said she didn't need to see her anymore. It has got even worse so her dr said with her age he couldn't up the mg on the zoloft. So he said he wanted her to start taking Strattera 25 mg.
Avatar f tn My son takes a medication that is specific WITH food and also another that says you pick with food or without food, but stay consistent with it. I think Coreg, from my reading, is food optional but the recommendation is that with food is better because it slows the rate of absorption. This is to prevent orthostatic hypotension (this is when bp drops and you get dizzy when you stand up). If you aren't having that problem by not taking it with food, then may not be a worry for you.
Avatar f tn "Flu like symptoms" are common as regards withdrawal and for some medications they often don't start for a while as for a period of time they are still in your system. But that doesn't mean you couldn't also have the flu or minor food poisoning or any number of things. Best to speak to a doctor as to what is going on.
Avatar f tn ) Another thing you should know is that it is best to take it at the same time every day and with food. Taking it with food will help minimize side effects as well. Also do not go a few days without taking it or else your side effects WILL be horrible. This medicine is one you will have to be weened off of. If you do not take it you will feel dizzy, ligth headed, tired, nauseated, horrible headache, ringing ears, and disorientated. These effects are worse the higher the dosage.
574118 tn?1305135284 But do people here agree with me that a true i.e. a typical or classical patient with BP can become manic without a trigger i.e. passing by periods of elation or depression, whereas a person who is driven manic only under a trigger especially antidepressant is not or should NOT be considered having BP.
Avatar m tn For me, when I started Zoloft, it was one of the most 'bothersome' side effects that I had for a couple weeks or so. When do you take it? Do you take it with food? I know if I take ANY pills on an empty stomach it really bothers me. In my experience, most of my side effects went away within a few weeks or so...keep us posted!
396099 tn?1216254986 Since I started my Zoloft it seems that food (but especially liquids) have a slightly metallic taste. Is this just me? I haven't seen it as a side effect anywhere.
Avatar n tn Do you have any suggestions how I could help her deal with depression without the medication and is Zoloft very dangerous to start with?
Avatar f tn I really hope that somebody can help me. My doctor put me on Zoloft, however I think I suffer from paranoia more than depression or anxiety. I always think that someone like the police, FBI, State Police, are watching me and planning on arresting me, even though I don't do anything illegal or would give the police a reason to arrest me.
Avatar m tn My son has been having stomach pain for a year and a half. He has tried the lactose and gluten free diets (he carriers the celiac gene). He has nausea and has vomited. He also gets very pale and has diarrhea. He had and endoscopy, colonoscopy, and swallowed the camera pill too. All tests were normal. Had a hyda scan done and his functioning was a 26. When they injected him in the 2nd part of the test he immediately reacted with nausea, pain in stomach and chest, coughing and felt woozy.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear your having some anxiety/depression/post-partum s/s. This should be such a happy time for you with a newborn in your arms. Oh, and congratulations............almost forgot that! As far as recommending one med over another, we can't do that here. We can offer you our opinions and experiences of each, which you can read in the postings. We are not doctors on this side of the forum and even if you did write to an actual MD, they can only offer you their opinions as well.
Avatar n tn I have had medication for probably at least six years now, most of the time on zoloft. I take 150mg of zoloft everyday. I still have off days but for the most part life is good. Could I have a life like I do now without med? Will I ever stop feeling the pains from my anxiety. Can SAD just go away? My brother suffered from add but he is in highschool now, off all meds, and doing fine. Is it possible for a person with SAD to outgrow it like my brother did with add.
Avatar f tn How many mg are you or did you take? Did it help with anxiety? How long was the adjustment period (did it increase your anxiety)? Did you gain or loss weight? Please share your experience with Celexa. Thank you for your advice!
Avatar f tn She has missed 15 days of school already due to migraines and or vomitting. The vomitting will happen without headaches. I don't know what is wrong and the Dr's keep saying give it time. Any ideas??
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with OCD for 2 to 3 years now and on Zoloft. My initial fear used to be I was becoming a murderer and now it is that I'll develop schizophrenia. Im constantly paying attention to my perceptions and senses, making sure I'm not hallucinating hearing or seeing something. For awhile now I've had optical illusions where I'll see something out of the corner of my eye and think it's something else.
Avatar f tn I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day back when my depression was only Moderate. It worked really well for about 3 years before it stoped working and I had to switch meds. As for the side effects....Yea, I know what you mean and they do suck. I just reached a point where even the worst side effects were not near as bad as my depression is so it's the lesser of two evils. Now days I will suffer any side effect if a medication works to ease my tormenting depression.
Avatar f tn I went off of Lexapro because my dr. said that I didn't need them anymore and that I didn't need the therapy anymore. I agreed with him at the time because he's the one with the degree. My withdrawal symptoms or anxiety (which ever) didn't seem to come for about 2 weeks after I stopped taking it. I loved Lexapro! I have been on so many different meds and this by far has helped me the most. Good luck and thanks for the response.
429949 tn?1224691579 So My primary care doctor put me on a low dose of xanax .23mg once a day at bedtime. THis worked perfectly with the Zoloft, but they wanted me to go to a phyciatric clinic to get the xanax since it is a controled substance, eventhough it was a low dose. So I went to this new doctor who immediatley had a problem with the xanax and said my Zoloft must not be working anymore.I dissagreed with him, but he kept insisting that Paxil would be better at controlling both the depression and axiety.
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have been suffering with anxiety for over 6 years now. I was able to go off my medications in 2005 without any problems because I became pregnant. Anyways, the anxiety is back full throttle....I have health anxiety where I constantly feel like I am having a heart attack. My doctor prescribed Zoloft, which I took in the past, but my insurance doesn't cover it. The generic for Celexa is one of the $4 prescriptions you can get at Walmart so she put me on that.
Avatar f tn I have also read about the weight gain with Zoloft when I started taking it for my PMDD. My doctor suggested uping my B vitimins to help with my energy & metabolism. I have been taking a B-100 once a day with the zoloft & have still been able to lose weight. Hope that helps.
