I'm thinking of trying Zoloft for my gad/pd. No real depression, just anxiety. I've been on Effexor for about 1 month and it doesn't seem to be working. It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects?

I have been on Zoloft (50mg) for about four months approximately and I am feeling much better about myself. I have a very slight decrease in sex drive and a little sleepiness and occaisional confusion, but I do not feel depressed anymore and I have had a lot of improvement with my anxiety. I just wanted to hear anyone else who had something to say positively about Zoloft. Seems like all I hear is negative reviews about it on the internet. Thanks, everyone!

There have been commercials for zoloft causing birth defects. I stopped taking mine immediately when me and my boyfriend decided to try for a baby. Now im 20 weeks and 2 days.

I was taking pristiqe for depression and anxiety I'm 6 wks today and as soon as I found out I was pregnant the Dr. Made me switch over to Zoloft for depression. I've heard nothing but horrible things about Zoloft. Is there anyone that has takin it during their pregnancy? What is your opinion and experience?

The primary doctor said i have virual virus do to allergies, so i saw my doctor who precribed me the Zoloft he said not take zoloft for two weeks until i get better from this virual virus then try the zoloft again if you have reaction to it stop the zoloft then wait a week and try different medicine called citalpram 20mm. i am so sacred to taking any medicine because i am so sentitive to medicine anyway.

My daughter (15 years old) has been recently prescribed 50mg Zoloft for mild depression. I am very scared that this is not the right way to deal with the problems that she has and in particular scared of side effects and withdrawal dramas eventually. Do you have any suggestions how I could help her deal with depression without the medication and is Zoloft very dangerous to start with?

This is going to be kind of stupid to ask because I'm sure nearly all of you have been prescribed zoloft for depression, if you've been prescribed it before... but how did zoloft work for your anxiety? They prescribed me some during my hospital stay for my anxiety. I'm already less jittery but feeling anxious a bit still but I know that will take a week or so to take full effect.

It may help with the depression that often accompanies the withdrawals...

i dont know alot about these meds but i have taken zoloft and it did nothing for me, i actually became sucidel on zoloft and had to come off of it.. i hope the best for you and please post when you go see your doctor.... best of wishes to you!!!

I have had depression for many years and have been taking zoloft only. Up until recently I have never had depression bad enough to have physical effects. I didnt even know about the physical effects of depression. My depression and anxiety have gotten severe over the past few months. Today my doctor told me to keep taking the zoloft and he also told me to start taking welbutrin 150 xl. Supposed to effect different parts or chemicals of the brain.

Lots of people take those two together -- it's very common. That doesn't cause the brain shocks, withdrawal does. Taking it every other day isn't a taper, that just throws you into withdrawal every other day. Please, talk to your psychiatrist. Don't be stubborn, or in a hurry. SAMe is for depression, not anxiety; 5htp is for both, but you can't take either if you're on an ssri as they both affect serotonin.

I have been taking zoloft 100mg for about 7 years originally because of a bad breakup with a boyfriend. Now I am feeling super weird. A couple months ago Rite Aid stopped carrying the same version I was taking and have a new manufacturer. I was feeling the withdrawals immediately and thought I should go back to the original manufacturer. Now I am completely unbalanced. When I take Zoloft I feel it zoom in my head, I am immediately hungry and lack any kind of sex drive.

There is so many problems regarding my mom but I will try to just touch on what is happening. She is suffering terribly with RLS. My mom has been treated for close to 30 years with numerous antidepressants. She has severe OCD, bipolar, and anxiety disorder. She is currently on 200 mg of Zoloft...in addition to Depekote, and Klonopin. Her RLS was being treated with a very high dose of Requip but has recently been switched to something else; some sort of patch. Nothing is working.

This drug will make you gain serious weight. Take a look at the Lexapro/weight gain boards. You doctor should really have told you how huge you will get on Lexapro. It's not worth it. Find something else. I've had better luck with natural/herbal remedies for depression (Vitamin Shoppe), sunshine, and meditation. I went from a size 2 to an 8 twice taking Lexapro. Should have learned my lesson the first time. To me, there is nothing more depressing than looking pregnant when I am NOT.

My husband was on Zoloft a few years ago,it didn't work for him,but that doesn't mean it won't work for you.I can remember his doctor telling us he would need to be on it for 2 weeks before he would really be able to feel whether it was working for him or not.I think the important thing is to keep good communication with your doctor and if the medication is not helping you the way you wish to be helped by it let him/her know as soon as possible.

Hi, I take Lithium too. , it work's wonder's for me in combination with Seroquel .The only mild side effect's i get is a little shaky in the hands sometime's nothing major, and you do get a dry mouth sometime's aswell ,so just keep your fluid's up (water) is the go, apart from that it's all good my mood's a pretty leveled out .

I was recently started on Zoloft for fear that I am suffering from depression and or will suffer from depression due to it having taken place on both sides of my family and on my partners family. I was wondering what are some of the real problems with taking this drug and should I stop its use during my third trimester???

t seem to get much help and I think it was making my sleeping problems worse. I then went to Sertraline (Zoloft) and have been on a half dose for 9 days (25 mg) and will go to full dose of 50 mg on day 10. The side effects seem to add to my fatigue, which I already had due to grief/bereavement. I haven't given up on Sertraline as I'm yet to have a run at full dose.

I am a 30 year old female that has suffered from depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD since childhood. I have been on at least 7 different medications over the years that have and have not worked for various symptoms; however, I can't find one that works for them all. I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for about 3 years and it works great for my depression and the best thing I've ever taken for my OCD, but my anxiety is worse than it has ever been.

Try not to allow yourself to say Well, I should be well! It only leads to more depression. Hard to accept, but having had the experience for over 15 years, I can say each day is different. Try not to put a time frame on feeling better. One day you will realise you don't feel as bad as you did. I have a ton of sympathy for you, and send you lots of hugs!

I've been clean off the oxys for 11 days now and today I went to the doctor for a follow up appointment (I got really sick from a flu shot while I was in detox last week) Anyway, I told the Dr. I was severly depressed and he wrote me a script for Cymbalta. I've been on anti-depressants before, even way before I got addicted to oxycontin. I've never taken Cymbalta though.

So for the past 6 months I have been taking Zoloft for my depression, and so far it's doing an okay job at keeping suicidal thoughts and strong urges to harm myself or start bursting into tears at bay. However, I also have anxiety and the Zoloft is doing nothing to help with that, not that I really expected it to. I freak out over the tiniest of things, I suspect things are bad or I'm convinced of the worst case scenarios.

Often SSRIs can have the opposite effect on certain types of bipolar. Zoloft worked for me for awhile, but when a truly depressive episode hit, it at best dod nothing for me or it exaserbated the depression. I have been through many meds since I have been diagnosed. Some they never should have put me on (my type of bipolar is scarily bad when mixed with Lithium).

I hate to sound like a broken record but this definitely sound like panic attacks/anxiety. Do some research online to see if you have those symptoms. If doctors did a chest X-ray and all those tests you should rest assured that its not something wrong with your heart. Being a mom is not an easy job and can overwhelm you at times. About a year before taking Celexa, I took it with Wellbutrin for about 4 months for depression and never had a side effect like that. I also know Zoloft and Celexa are both SSRI's so I'm nervous to take it. At this point my Anxiety is under control more, but I'm still having at least one mild panic attack a day. I just wanted to know about other people's experience with the drug. I'm honestly very scared to take it, but I can't handle my anxiety anymore.
