Zoloft liver

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft liver

zoloft

Avatar n tn warned me about starting treatment because I have been on and off anti-depressants for years. Can anyone recommend a liver friendly one that works well with the combination therapy?
Avatar f tn re describing is a combination colon/liver cleanse. Milk thistle and yellowdock, for example, are liver cleansers, and could theoretically wash some of the medication out of our system, as the body sees virtually all medication as toxic. There are colon cleanses that don't contain liver cleansing herbs, just colon cleansers, which are abrasives and sometimes laxatives that are intended to clean out that system. You might want to look into those next time.
Avatar m tn i don't think it has to do with liver...more so the effects of the drug. if your doc said it was ok...then it's probably ok. you don't want to over do it though. in my experience...it doesn't take nearly as much to get me drunk being on anti-depressants. but i also don't drink very often at all. you might consider slowing down the alcohol use on the weekends and only do it when you want to do it...not when others want you to. if you have anxiety issues...
Avatar n tn On anti-depressants I think there's quite a few that are "liver friendly" I was prescribed Zoloft a long time ago. I never took it long enough for it to kick in but I've also been offered Paxil, but I personally rejected that offer. Depression is quite common with HepC so I'm sure there's no shortage of very effective one's that are safe. Also there are some types of Amino-Acids that work fairly well for depression.
255163 tn?1376869746 I hope someone can answer this question. I have been taking 50mg zoloft once a day for 16 days only. I stopped cold turkey. It's been 6 days without taking any and have no withdrawal symptoms at all.. Does anyone know if the zoloft is all out of my system by now. Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn I havé been on zoloft for 11 years ! I am doing ok on it untll i started to havé serious and disturbing night sweats and stressfull dreams . As well as bad liver blood exams . I was told that m'y liver is getting intoxicated with thé zoloft . This scared me so i reduced from 50 to 25 Mgs per day , thé withdrawals are a little hard. Iwould plan on reducing it more ! I am afraid all together as this drug changed m'y life and made me feel so much better .
1722607 tn?1335747858 I think if you tell your doctor you want something that is not addicting, hopefully he/she will know not to prescribe benzodiazipines but rather proscribe a medication like Zoloft. I think Zoloft is considered safe in liver disease but I am not certain about Paxil.
Avatar f tn Lots of people have read about grapefruit and hep c and are trying it but I also know a lot of people on tx or getting ready to tx are using the anti- depressant Zoloft . Zoloft is one of the drugs that can cause big danger to the liver if used with grapefruit. There are others too but this one is especially common to people on interferon/riba. I sure don't want anyone to make this mistake. There are anti depressants that are safe with grapefruit-Celexa is one of them.
Avatar f tn I've been on Zoloft for 7 years , 150 mg down to 100 now, I take only 50mg sometimes, lately I have been getting these sudden feel of pure sickness like low blood pressure nausea and I was curious if Zoloft is toxic if you have to much in your body ? Like if I take 100 mg a day where does it all go for the 7 years? I've read about it and it freaks me out. Also not sleeping right or eating it drinking enough fluids can make you feel faint and nauseous right ? I just need reassurance.
Avatar m tn I started on Zoloft last week, the same time I started treatment. I decided that with the big possibility that you can get major depressed while on treatment, and all of the warnings about suicidal tendencies, etc, I wasn't going to take any chances. I was just diagnosed in Nov 2007. Think mine has been around close to 40 years.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta and Zoloft are two different types of AD's. Cymbalta is a SNRi and Zoloft is a SSRi. I had very bad withdraw when I stopped Zoloft. So my Dr. had me wean off it. From experience ( 2 x's I had to stop taking Zoloft ) I would HIGHLY recommend slowly getting off the Zoloft. I don't think that it can be 'switched'.
Avatar m tn t speak for everyone, but I did drink very often and in excess back when I was taking Zoloft. I started Zoloft when I was 22 because I became sick with depression and anxiety. Obviously being 22 years old and in the party stage of my life I did drink. I was taking 200Mgs a day of Zoloft at the time for about 4 years. (I'm on other meds now as Zoloft, actually very few antidepressant work for me anymore) In my case I did not have any bad reaction to alcohol while on Zoloft.
Avatar n tn I have been on zoloft for 2 months now, I now gets night sweats and my liver enzymes are elevated. Is this a side effect ?
Avatar m tn Does Tramadol have as much SSRI in it as Zoloft? Does 100mg of Tramadol have as much SSRI as say 50mg of Zoloft? I was taking Tramadol while I was going through Zoloft withdrawal and I'm just wondering if I stunted the healing process of my Zoloft withdrawal. My body and mind still don't feel 100% since quitting Zoloft, but it's definitely getting better.
Avatar n tn Sertraline is also known as ‘Zoloft’; I was prescribed Zoloft many years ago, but didn’t continue beyond two or three months; I didn’t seem to get any benefit from it-- Bill
Avatar n tn All pharmaceutical products adversely affect the liver, and dark spots on the skin have traditionally been attributed to liver elimination, such as liver spots. There are natural liver cleanses you can use if that turns out to be an issue.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone i'm going to go nuts! I am tapering off of zoloft right now, because I don't think it is really doing much and I been so depressed ever since taking it for panic and anxiety. Anyway I was thinking about trying Valerian or Kava Kava any suggestions? Which one is best?
Avatar f tn I know my liver is in danger especially since I was on a dose of 8 10/325mg Norcos a day for about a year. I'm off of the Norco now because I do not have chronic pain at the moment due to a temporary fix. But it is likely that I will be back on opiate pain medicine again. So it's bad that I'm taking that much Tylenol. Normally when I do not take anything to sleep it takes about 2 hours to fall asleep.
501895 tn?1210201743 zoloft and vicodin are drugs...
Avatar m tn Hi I have recently as in 14 weeks completed 24 weeks of Pegasys treatment and about half way through treatment Ichanged ADs from Zoloft to Avanza as zoloft wasnt agreeing with me. About this time my GGTS went higher than they have ever been (up from nornal to about 300) and dragged the ALTs and ASTs with them and stayed at that high level. I am having a blood test next week to see if they are back to normal. My medical team wasnt sure what caused the rise.
Avatar f tn My Grammy passed from a major stroke in July and since then my anxiety has sky rocketed. Every day I am in constant worry and fear about my health. I've gone to the doctors and have had a CBC done and my liver and kidneys were tested as well, all came out well. But I've just felt so crappy and have lost my appetite. I have Zoloft but haven't started it yet, I really should though. Is it normal that my anxiety has increased since her passing?
462361 tn?1207858977 so im on day 17. :) worst of the worst is over i take it. im doing liver cleanse now and dealing with it pretty well but im still having the occasional twitching at night, some nights are pretty bad some not so bad. i take 2 all natural sleep aids and occasionally a benedryl or tylenol pm to maybe help but nothing seems to stop it. my question is..
504535 tn?1210527032 I have been taking sertraline for about a month now (a generic zoloft) and I have actually missed a few doses on multiple occassions. On 3 occasions, i even missed 2 days in a row. I have been taking it for the past 4 days straight now (latest streak), and this past week I have had stomach pains, especially after eating or drinking. The pain stays for hours and it doesnt relieve if i go number 2. my stools are still yellowish and sometimes loose.
Avatar n tn I was actually advised not to eat grapefruit while on Zoloft. As Sharejew said, it does interact with SSRIs like Zoloft. In fact, depending on what pharmacy I used to get refills, there would be stickers on the medication bottle stating not to consume any grapefruit products....furthermore, both my pharmacist and doctor told me to stay away from grapefruit. I am not really sure why your pharmacist gave you the advice he/she did...keep us posted.
1985094 tn?1326522065 I have bi-polar disorder and have been taking 200 mg od Zoloft for years. On two different occasions, I ried to use Unisom to help me sleep. On both of those occasions, I came very close to a full psychotic split. Upon checking with my Psychiatrist, I was told to NEVER mix unisom with Zoloft. Benedryl is OK, but there is a tremendous amount of antecdotal evidence out there about the dangers of Unisom and Zoloft. Please try anything else before Unisom, or talk to yur Psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn He basically said this was all anxiety still, and thought I really needed to be on a daily medication instead of just taking ativan when it got really bad. He prescribed me zoloft 100mg, but suggested I start with 50mg to try and lessen the side effects. I have not taken it yet as I am anxious about taking it (of course). I am really just curious as what to expect when starting this. It is supposed to have fewer side effects than the paxil.
1711722 tn?1356487554 Once they kicked in, the ADs definitely helped with anxiety and I find myself wondering if I should stay on them long term (which was never an option for me before). Any harm to the liver, should I decide to continue?? If anyone has a link, I sure would appreciate it. 3. Finally, I know we are all different and respond differently to meds, but of the Pros and Cons, which AD do you prefer over another and why?? I started on Cymbalta but switched after a month because of constipation.
