Zoloft jaw clenching

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft jaw clenching

zoloft

17020225 tn?1455749597 So the jaw clenching hasn't stopped. I went back to the doctor after a month on celexa for a follow up. I told them about the clenching, and they seemed surprised. Said they haven't heard of that side effect before. Which is the same thing my pharmacist said. I thought it was odd because antidepressants are listed as a cause for bruxism. But any way they decided to have me try Zoloft now. So hopefully that'll work for the anxiety and stop the jaw clenching.
Avatar f tn I found out when my ears kept feeling stuffed and I finally saw an ENT who told me it was from jaw clenching. So who knows what Zoloft can do to any particular person? On the other hand, after just three days, it isn't causing it anymore, and if you still have it, it's more likely your anxiety is holding on to it -- conditioned thinking is what plagues us anxiety sufferers. Work on this with your CBT person and see if it helps.
Avatar f tn My doctor recenlty made a change and brought me down to 7.5mg due to fatigue and jaw clenching. He also added a small dose on kolonopin .25mg in the evening to assist with the jaw clenching. I was doing o.k until last week when I started to feel very blue and having some crying spells. On Sunday night I then started having a bit of increased anxiety and a couple of small panic attacks.
Avatar f tn and I decided to try an extremely low dose of zoloft again but 2 days into it, started jaw clenching again. Calling Dr. tomorrow. So sad.
Avatar m tn Hi! Are you currently taking any medication for your anxiety? I'm curious because I am having a time with my jaw being really tight and having pain and soreness! I am on 75 mg of Zoloft and I don't recall it starting until I started on medication, but I know clenching in general from anxiety or from anti-depressants can cause clenching of teeth, which can cause the jaw pain. I also have the exact same thing with my arms. I have, too, been afraid of it being heart related.
Avatar m tn Weird, I think you did the right thing, because Effexor works in the 2 different areas. I weaned down on Effexor to go over to Celexa, and once you're down to a low dose it's not so bad. You should still expect some withdrawal effects, like the spins and zaps, but going over to Zoloft, that drug will ease it up a bit. It's good to be vigilant with your meds and question anything, I think passivity with meds can be dangerous.
Avatar f tn I have been on Sertraline (Zoloft) for over 2 months now, for depression that's borderline bipolar, and I am still yawning and have gotten TMJ. I also keep having to take deep breaths until I can't take in any more air- not yawning-; I am clenching my jaw a lot still and having to open my mouth as wide as I can- again, not yawning- which makes me look a liiiiittle crazy! Anyone know of anything that might stop or alleviate these problems?
1379090 tn?1279032110 I take wellbutrin and recently stopped zoloft. My psych told me that wellbutrin increases sweating. I have horrible night sweats and start sweating at the drop of a hat during the day. And I'm only 25 so it has to be the medication. It's so bad that I've considered getting off the wellbutrin as well. I'd rather be deppresed than soaked with sweat all day!
Avatar n tn Tremors throughout the body (very noticeable in the hands), jaw pain (teeth clenching), constant LOUD ringing in ears are the major issues. I won't even begin to mention the many minor issues. PLEASE HELP!!! Raiders77 Male, 44 years old, with no phycological issues (UNTIL NOW!!!).
1302779 tn?1287405029 hey all just wanted to hear some experience about "jaw clenching" with taking lexapro. Been on it for a month at 15mg and the only real side affect im having is jaw clenching. was wondering if this will be less with time?
1550654 tn?1294747554 Oh mommy i should add that i suffered a dislocated jaw 2 years ago and thats how my addiction was born. but since then even the slightest clenching causes excruciating pain in my entire face and ears. pay attention and see if your clenching or grinding your teeth when you manage to catch some sleep. a dental mouthguard has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn I clench my jaw in my sleep. I even catch myself doing it during the day. My doctor told me that I clenched because my bite was off, so I wore braces for 3 1/2 years to re-align my jaw. That didn't work. I am now on my 2nd mouth guard. I find that the guard makes my clenching worse (I got the 2nd one because my current doctor said the 1st must have been poorly fitted. Wrong!). I am convinced that botox is my only hope to loosen my jaw muscles and stop my clenching.
Avatar m tn m also taking Zoloft.... hmmmm, could there be some connection? Mind you, I was clenching and grinding while on other antidepressants. It just stinks that we have secondary issues and side-effects to deal with but I too, feel a sense of relief that I am not alone. Ideally, we could practice mindfulness, mediation & yoga and have frequent massage therapy treatments and perhaps acupuncture too but realistically... at least for me, all we can do is brush, floss and wear a mouth guard at night.
Avatar m tn When your dentist told you that you had TMJ, did he not recommend a mouthpiece be made for you to cushion it? It's possible your dentist doesn't specialize in TMJ -- some do, some don't. If you don't get this taken care of, you will grind your teeth down and crack them, so you need a night guard. Maybe even a day guard. Now, it might not be TMJ, clenching isn't always TMJ. TMJ is the jaw, clenching is clenching. See a dentist who knows how to treat this.
1305767 tn?1361192676 m in horrible pain. I have anxiety and I have bad issues with clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth in my sleep and sometimes I clench my jaw in the day.
1539379 tn?1294332115 HEY i too am on 40 mg of celexa since oct and saw my specialist yesterday and we discussed my problem with the med is jaw clenching! I also suffer with migraines so jaw clenching and migraines not a good mix! I also take 05 mg klonopin with clexa in the morning and I feel the klonopin helps more than the celexa with anxiety. that being said I am slowly weaning off the celexa very slowly and see if the klonopin will be enough. the jaw clenching especially at night is not fun.
Avatar f tn It is interesting that my main complaint is that I feel the jaw is too forward and up. This type of clenching is locking my jaw and causing the shortness of breath. With OSA I notice that there are special splints to place the jaw forward a bit to clear the throat. So I don't have OSA, I must have just jaw clenching problem. Thank you again.
Avatar n tn I woke up yesterday with horrendous jaw pain (mostly left side). Has anyone experience this? Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain? Or what may be causing it?
Avatar m tn It really feels like this jaw clenching fist clenching sort of energy . If this is indeed related to hypothyroid, why? I read that low thyroid triggers adrenal stuff could that be it?
Avatar f tn For me this is such a coinsidence to see this post. I am always clenching my jaw.. Mainly subconsciously. Clenching it then swollowing. And I constantly feel as if my throat is going to close over or something or that something will just click in place somewhere and stop me breathing some how. I dont no if it is exactly what you are experiencing but maybe it is simalar.
Avatar f tn t always bother but I know that it can be damaging. Plus my jaw tends to get tight and sore kind of a lot. Thanks for the suggestions!
Avatar n tn the same thing happened to me, heart going crazy, jaw clenching could sleep nor think clearly i felt like steam was gonna start coming from my ears. i dont know weather it was withdrawal from the mirtazapine because the doc just told me to stop taking them, or the sertaline or a mix of both. all i know is i couldnt handle the feeling any longer and stopped taking the sertaline!!
Avatar f tn What are the symtoms of tmj? It seems like my jaw is constantly tight. I don't notice clenching my teeth that often but I know I do it. I have had problems with only the left side of neck shoulder and upper back and also I get a twingy head pain in left temple when bending over. Also left side of head has a constant pressure feeling. So now after having MRI's and nothinh there, I am wondering if it's tmj or clenching of the teeth after all I have dealt with anxiety for 2 years.
Avatar f tn I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
Avatar f tn If empty mouth clenching does'nt elicit discomfort or pressure, try to extend your head and move your jaw upward and backward bimanually, and move your head down while pushing your jaw backward and upward, this maneuver is supposed to be operated by a dentist, and dental assistant holds the articulating paper. An optimally restored tooth is able to withstand cotton roll clenching test.
1353681 tn?1387083733 sounds were so magnified and I felt off balance. My jaw is misaligned due clenching, but due to COVID have waited to see a dentist. Could the misaligned jaw cause the sound sensitivity? I hope to make an appointment soon...had to lay in bed most of the day yesterday.
