zoloft for mood swings

Does anyone experience mood swings? Mine are mostly between Depression and anxiety. I know that they are not all related to a physical problem but could they be part of being Hypo w/o being on the correct medicines?

I used to get mood swings really bad, but since my DX of fibro/cfs and going on Zoloft, my life is a lot better, as far as the mood swings go anyway. I know when I do too much, when my muscles start knotting up before I go to bed. I do get the fuzzies, I call them fibrofog, and it is miserable. My Rheumy gives me a script for sleeping meds, so if I feel like I'm not going to sleep very well, I take 1. Hope you start feeling better.

Often SSRIs can have the opposite effect on certain types of bipolar. Zoloft worked for me for awhile, but when a truly depressive episode hit, it at best dod nothing for me or it exaserbated the depression. I have been through many meds since I have been diagnosed. Some they never should have put me on (my type of bipolar is scarily bad when mixed with Lithium).

Since being recently diagnosed with BP2, I am wondering what expereinces people have with mood swings over days and hours. I noticed over the last few months as my condition got worse, i was expereincing dramatic mood swings from extreme anger most of the day to really low depression and sadness by the time dinner time rolled around.

I have horrible depression and anxiety that causes mood swings, suicidal thoughts and intense anger. Its not bipolar since its not manic and doesn't go up or down.I used to be a heavy pot smoker which kept it under control. Well I smoked after my first son was born and noticed I got heavily addicted to it. (Bitchy without it and fiending it constantly) My doctor prescribed zoloft but I didn't feel any different and didn't change my mood at all.

Definitely sounds like Bipolar to me. Doesn't sound to me like he has a psychiatrist. Does he? Maybe you could say something to his doctor about his moods. Or if he has any male friends, talk to them and try to get them to say something to him about the Zoloft probably causing him mood swings. Things are only going to get worse if he stays on the Zoloft without a mood stabilizer. Don't know your insurance or money situation, but he definitely needs to get help.

I am having very bad hot flashes,mood swings,and fatigue,sometimes insomia. I have been on estrogen since Oct.2008,my O.B. wants me to take Effexor 37.5mg twice daily to help with the hot flashes and mood swings. My concern is that I was previously on Zoloft 50mg. and it gave me real bad headaches raised my blood pressure and sent me on a emergent run to the hsp. emergency room,,I am concerned about starting this medicience that it will cause the same problems or worse. My wife has mild OCD and has problems with obsessisive thoughts, perfectionist tendencies and mood swings. We're looking for some advice on medications that are known to be effective in treating these symptoms. She's been on Effexor for a couple of years which has been tremendously successful but she had to stop taking it recently, (due to it causing high blood pressure), and we discovered the dark, ugly side of this medication.

All of this is clinically complex and should be discussed with a psychiatrist but keep a mood tracker and then print out the results for them. Then if they notice any mood swings that appear to be part of bipolar depression (where depression is the general concern but there are episodes of mania as well) they could update your diagnosis and treatment within their discretion.

She not only gave me the referral, but also put me on Zoloft for anxiety. I amnot one to medicate for everything, in fact I was quite reluctant to start the Zoloft, but it is completely safe for you and baby being prego, try talking to your doc about it. Better to be safe and not stressed than to stress you and the baby and DH out all the time. I feel so much better. I feel normal.

Because of cost issues (and because I dont think I need it anymore), I've decided to wean myself off of zoloft. I've been taking 50mg of it for the last 12 years because of panic attacks. I know how to spot one when it happens though and what to do - plus I dont want to be on medication forever. I've taken the last week of pills and broken them in half to get 7 25mg doses.

It controlled my mood swings for the most part because they get very dangerous. I get angry and put a lot of stress on my body when I'm not on it. But I can't take it now and my mood swings are coming back full swing. What do I do? I'm so worried I'm going to get stressed and it will effect the baby and have a miscarriage. Please help?

I was put on low dose Zoloft for 2 months. Now I am off the Zoloft, we will see if the mood swings and temper return.

gain and titrating up on Lamictal for obvious mood swings. Idk, Abilify worked well for me with Zoloft for approx 8 years. Good luck to you!

does it make a difference what time of day you take your anxiety meds? i have been taking 50mg zoloft since december. i was originally taking it mid morning, then i started backing it up (b/c of forgetting to take it) to early afternoon, and now i am taking it before i go to bed. i feel that my mood swings are slowly coming back and i was wondering if its the time of day that i'm taking it now that makes a difference at all.

Do you have bipolar disorder or just bad mood swings? I have bipolar 1 disorder and my doc put me on 25mg of Zoloft. And those commercials on tv about taking Zoloft and baby having birth defects has a 0.009% chance of anything happening. I would just talk to your doctor about it. If you have been diagnosed with BP1 you need to talk to your doc about options.

You can only take one .Are you all of the way off of the tram .You do not want to risk suffering from serotonin syndrome. All three of theses drugs could raise your levels .SS can be fatal for some people .so plz do take more then one at a time either stay on the zoloft or go off it an take the SAM E. If you are still taking tram you should wait until you are all of the way off.

I was only on Zoloft for a few weeks but I had horrible side effects so I stopped cold turkey. I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms.

My Dr. prescribed me Zoloft, 50 mg. to take when I get mood swings and depression associated with my menstrual cycle. Normally I'm on a daily 10 mg. dose of Lexapro. I am not to take the Lexapro on the days I take the Zoloft. Anyway I took my first Zoloft this morning and feel like I've been speeding since. My heart rate isn't high or anything but I feel like an electrical current is going through me and I feel a bit shaky inside. I feel real fidgety too like I can't sit still.

Ever since I switched from Zoloft to Celexa, I have had sweats, mood swings again, very dark thoughts. I've been on it for about a month now,,a few days ago, I started getting a ringing sensation in my ears. Anyone ever had responses like this to Celexa/Citalopram?

why? whats a better med for panic attacks. because clonazepam only help with my mood swings and agitation.

t know what kinds of medications may help, but certainly, I think a lot of the anti-depressants would be of some help. With the mood swings. My doc recommends omega 3 fish oil for cognitive function and memory trouble. 1,000 mg. per day. I use it daily. When I remember! (Just kidding) Maybe your doctor will have you do a neuropsych test to see what's going on with you right now. I think you should ask about it if he/she doesn't bring it up.
