Zoloft for cfs

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft for cfs

zoloft

Avatar f tn I'm twenty years old and I've been having a physical health problem for a couple years. I get this tremendous pressure in my chest and it hurts to breath - which in turn makes me dizzy sometimes and I have to stop what I'm doing to sit down and focus on breathing. On top of that I'm tired and I have a complete lack of appetite. I'll make something to eat, take two or three bites and then I don't even want the rest.
Avatar f tn As frustrating as it might be in college stay clear of alcohol for now because it can be dehydrating. CFS often includes a reduced blood volume (hard to test for and not part of the usual blood tests). By staying hydrated it can help you feel better.
Avatar f tn Went to family doc who then diagnosed me with fybro and prescribed me Cymbalta instead of Zoloft. I was managing a lil better for a few more weeks but just to be safe I wanted a second opinion, the doc sided wit the last doc and added Lyrica to the Cymbalta. Once again I managed for a few more weeks improved my diet and excercise to also help with the meds.
747493 tn?1249589956 I used to get mood swings really bad, but since my DX of fibro/cfs and going on Zoloft, my life is a lot better, as far as the mood swings go anyway. I know when I do too much, when my muscles start knotting up before I go to bed. I do get the fuzzies, I call them fibrofog, and it is miserable. My Rheumy gives me a script for sleeping meds, so if I feel like I'm not going to sleep very well, I take 1. Hope you start feeling better.
492869 tn?1285018933 ve learned to follow the physicians that keep up to date and KNOW about these conditions and are interested in the causes and treatments for fibro/CFS. Some of these physicians, like Dr. Shaw and Teitelbaum, have fibro & CFS themselves.
Avatar f tn Hi my son has fm/cfs and has had for 4 years he seems to be getting worse or at least the attacks seem to. Some days he seems like my old son he is 31 by the way but the next day he can be in as much pain as ever. I appreciate all of you who suffer with this will have as many and varied painful and irritating symptoms as he, but he has started to twitch in bed at night. His legs have started to jerk and he cannot control it. It has frightened him as this is new.
Avatar n tn Your experience is quite typical of those of us with CFS, now more properly called ME/CFS, especially internationally. The ME stands for myalgic encephalomyelitis (NOT encephalitis). However, sometimes we have to use "chronic fatigue syndrome" just to be understood. There are two subgroups of patients: sudden onset (you), usually after having a virus, and gradual onset (me), but mine also started after a case of two back-to-back viruses. I would advise you to stay on your Zoloft!
982333 tn?1305788889 I would ask the neuro if you can continue to see him for your CFS or can he refer you to someone who can be responsible for the CFS, then switch to a new primary for your regular medical care.
Avatar f tn "Current thinking suggests that CFS is a physical and mental illness and in ten per cent of cases, according to CFS charity Action For Me, its onset, as in Jonathan's case, seems linked to a severe viral infection, such as glandular fever, hepatitis, or parvovirus." The article was great, but i'm a bit upset that they have suggested it being a mental illness. Are they saying that it is the cause of mental illness or are they still in the dark ages with their thinking?
Avatar m tn Hello everyone , Before my pains started I suffered from depression and anxiety and was homebound for several years but I did not have any brain fog . Then in 2004 I developed myofascial pain syndrome (muscle knots in the back) and never been the same ever since . I also have IBS and in constant brain fog and I think my personality has changed(depressed all the time) . Is this only happening to me or others also have same kind of experiences?
Avatar f tn What does ME stand for? Also, those of you that have diverticulois (?) and/or colitis, what do you do for it?
707891 tn?1231194341 Hi ! Welcome to MedHelp ! I have CFS and I may have fibro (secondary).... and I can tell you that there is hope. You do have options and there has been a lot of research that has been done on fibromyalgia and that is still being done. You may want to check out our health pages. We recently had Professor Garth Nicolson join us and discuss the infections that are found in fibro, CFS and other illnesses. I think you may find those links interesting...

5255779 tn?1414034937 There have been commercials for zoloft causing birth defects. I stopped taking mine immediately when me and my boyfriend decided to try for a baby. Now im 20 weeks and 2 days.
5082295 tn?1371250911 I am very tired all the time (im 27 years old) It takes me a long time to even get out of bed & if I didn't make myself I could sleep all day. At any point in time if I sit long enough or lay long enough I can fall asleep. Even things I enjoy like shopping and playing with my niece really tire me out. I also have pain all over, yet that does come and go. I have bipolar disorder and I am on meds for it..
Avatar m tn This is going to be kind of stupid to ask because I'm sure nearly all of you have been prescribed zoloft for depression, if you've been prescribed it before... but how did zoloft work for your anxiety? They prescribed me some during my hospital stay for my anxiety. I'm already less jittery but feeling anxious a bit still but I know that will take a week or so to take full effect.
Avatar f tn I was taking pristiqe for depression and anxiety I'm 6 wks today and as soon as I found out I was pregnant the Dr. Made me switch over to Zoloft for depression. I've heard nothing but horrible things about Zoloft. Is there anyone that has takin it during their pregnancy? What is your opinion and experience?
Avatar n tn My daughter (15 years old) has been recently prescribed 50mg Zoloft for mild depression. I am very scared that this is not the right way to deal with the problems that she has and in particular scared of side effects and withdrawal dramas eventually. Do you have any suggestions how I could help her deal with depression without the medication and is Zoloft very dangerous to start with?
Avatar f tn I still have symtons and get shingles about 5 times a year, after many appiontments and prescriptions for aviculor for shingles and complaining about my symptons, and blood tests for everything in the book later, the doctor said last week it sounds like cfs but wanted 2 check my thyroid levels yet AGAIN 1st and rushed me out the door. How can I be taken seriously what should I do next?
Avatar f tn Hello Michael, welcome to MedHelp's forums. Thank you for your question. Working with your doctor is important and are glad you have been followed. Remember, you can always get second opinions from another doctor. Some give up and some continue to search for answers for their patients as they solve a medical mystery. Have you ever considered visiting a nutritionist? They may help with a diet plan to correct any deficiencies. Vitamin deficiencies are also associated with fatigue.
Avatar f tn The primary doctor said i have virual virus do to allergies, so i saw my doctor who precribed me the Zoloft he said not take zoloft for two weeks until i get better from this virual virus then try the zoloft again if you have reaction to it stop the zoloft then wait a week and try different medicine called citalpram 20mm. i am so sacred to taking any medicine because i am so sentitive to medicine anyway.
Avatar n tn ve known my exhausted state of being to be a CFIDS for the past several years. I searched for some definitive cause to prove otherwise, but I'm free from any major ailment. Lucky enough . . . but for this syndrome. I'm convinced that CFS is set off by prior infections with major bugs and MRSA certainly is one of them. Your symptoms sound familiar - I feel like I'm dying from the flu on really bad days. It's like being sick on some level all the time.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. An Australian on the thyroid board said that there is a test for CFS in Australia. Does anyone here know what it is and if they can do it in the USA, and what kind of doctor would do it? Also, are there any other tests, particularly blood tests? Thank you.
Avatar n tn It may help with the depression that often accompanies the withdrawals...
