zoloft

Avatar n tn I took Zoloft when I was pregnant ( for panic attacks), now she is 4 and diagnosed with Autism. Did I cause her Autism?
Avatar f tn You are absolutely not a bad mother! You are a good mother for being open to the possibility that zoloft may be his only reprieve from the anxiety. I have been on zoloft for years and it's been a Godsend. Some people need that extra help and if it relieves your sons anxiety, then it is a good thing. There are very few side effects and withdrawal is minimal. Stay away from paxil though. Good Luck!
Avatar m tn That on top of other ackward behaviors led the Pediatrician to think he had anxiety issues as well as Autism. He was prescribed Zoloft 10mg once daily and he was only on it a week and his behavior was totally worse. He became even more aggressive and violent. I am simply seeking a good medication "kid friendly" that will serve as somewhat of a tranquilizer while he is in school, because he is extremely hyperactive at school.
Avatar f tn m an ABA therapist so my life has been immersed in the autism world for 10 years now. I see how wonderful the children are, but what a difficult road it is. I've seen and heard so many different stories; A super preemie, drug use before conception, prescription use during pregnancy, older father, allergic reaction, to actually watching home videos of a lil guy before and after his shots (also the 90s,). Every mother has a theory- and each one of them may be right.

Avatar m tn If one looks at the history of treatment of young children with autism, one finds a long list of treatments that have been espoused to be the next cure for autism. Many of these treatments have been embraced with no scientific evidence to back them up.
1173196 tn?1292916490 I've been taking anti-depressants for about 7 years, zoloft for the last 3. When I got pregnant, I researched it online and everything said that it should be discontinued after 28 weeks because it can cause hypertension in a newborn. I asked all 3 of my midwives, and they each told me that there was no danger in continueing zoloft for the entire pregnancy and even while breastfeeding. I've already cut my dose by half anyway.
Avatar f tn The genetic testing was to possibly find out why he has Autism and to provide data for research purposes. His father and I have also given blood for these tests but have not been given our results. I find the whole thing very interesting. I do believe that Autism is a genetic disorder. If blood tests could be refined for the purpose of diagnosis, it would be quite helpful. I've read that some studies have linked this specific deletion with autism.

He has also been diagnosed within the past 2 months with Autism (mild), Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder and ADHD-Mixed type by a Pediatric Neurologist. He is taking Zoloft 50mg and Vyvanse 30mg. When he was a baby he was slow to hit his milestones. He started talking around 8-10 months.
Avatar m tn Hi (sorry in advance for the long post), I am a twenty year old male in Las Vegas and have been struggling with mental health problems for my whole life, but only realizing my thoughts were abnormal for the past 2 ½ years. I was first diagnosed as a child with anxiety but we thought nothing of it.

470168 tn?1237471245 On the news recently (in the UK) it has said that they are closer to having a pre-natal test to diagnose autism, and that they are also close to achieving hormone treatment for the foetus prior to birth so that the brain is less masculine. I think it is widely agreed that high levels of the male hormone during pregnancy can give a greater inclination towards autism.

6583170 tn?1385317938 There is no real link between MMR vaccine and autism. The only thing that was a cause for concern with childhood vaccinations was a mercury based preservative called Thimerosal. Studies Even showed that that didn't even have a direct link with an increased chance of autism developing in children but just to be safe the FDA banned it from being used in childhood vaccinations. I believe by 2001, if not earlier, all childhood vaccinations no longer contained that ingredient.
5255779 tn?1414034937 There have been commercials for zoloft causing birth defects. I stopped taking mine immediately when me and my boyfriend decided to try for a baby. Now im 20 weeks and 2 days.
Avatar m tn This is going to be kind of stupid to ask because I'm sure nearly all of you have been prescribed zoloft for depression, if you've been prescribed it before... but how did zoloft work for your anxiety? They prescribed me some during my hospital stay for my anxiety. I'm already less jittery but feeling anxious a bit still but I know that will take a week or so to take full effect.
Avatar f tn I can't say if it is autism. You've obviously got concerns, and as you say he is showing alot of sensory behaviour and he isn't talking yet. I would recommend you go to your GP and ask for a assessment from a multi disciplinary team that has experience of diagnosing autism. If it isn't that, he won't get a diagnosis and they would refer him elsewhere. Whatever is going on the sooner therapies are started the better the outcome.
Avatar f tn I was taking pristiqe for depression and anxiety I'm 6 wks today and as soon as I found out I was pregnant the Dr. Made me switch over to Zoloft for depression. I've heard nothing but horrible things about Zoloft. Is there anyone that has takin it during their pregnancy? What is your opinion and experience?
Avatar n tn My daughter (15 years old) has been recently prescribed 50mg Zoloft for mild depression. I am very scared that this is not the right way to deal with the problems that she has and in particular scared of side effects and withdrawal dramas eventually. Do you have any suggestions how I could help her deal with depression without the medication and is Zoloft very dangerous to start with?
Avatar f tn If you searched on the internet for your town and autism groups, you will find that there are a number of groups within 50 miles of your home town (from Princeton NJ to Bethlehem, PA). Best of luck.
Avatar f tn it was horrible. not sure about zoloft but i was on celexa for a long time and came off of that with a quick taper no problem. just do some research and find out which one is best for you and don't be afraid to ask for it. if i go on another one it will be celexa. i wish you the best of luck in getting better. do what you have to do to just feel better.

Avatar f tn I think it is really important to have the plan written by someone with significant experience in using applied behavior analysis with children with autism (you can search for board certified behavior analysts in your region at www.bacb.com). It is really crucial that the behavior intervention plan matches the reason your son is acting out. For example, some children act out when they are given difficult wotrk to do.
