Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft efficacy

zoloft

Avatar m tn I've taking 20 mg. of Paxil daily for about 5 years. Over the last couple of months , I've been experiencing extreme depression, anxiety, and loss of concentration, almost every day, and at any time. The worst part of the symptoms can last anywhere from an hour to 4 or 5 hours.Nothing major has changed in my life, my diet and exercise patterns have remained the same. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I'm would advise speaking with a pharmacist (chemist) about how long the efficacy of Zoloft will hold up. 12 years is a long time to be on the same med and it's POSSIBLE it isn't working for you anymore, but I don't have that answer for you. That your doctor told you to up your dose from 1 pill to 2 may be all that's needed. It may take a bit longer than two weeks for the effects of this new dosage to kick in.
Avatar n tn Hoodia is an appetite suppressant that has not been very well studied. In fact, its efficacy is often questioned. I am not aware of any side-effects of this supplement. Certainly, if you think that there is a temporal relationship between your starting the hoodia and poor blood pressure control you should you could probably assume that the two are somehow related.
Avatar m tn He basically said this was all anxiety still, and thought I really needed to be on a daily medication instead of just taking ativan when it got really bad. He prescribed me zoloft 100mg, but suggested I start with 50mg to try and lessen the side effects. I have not taken it yet as I am anxious about taking it (of course). I am really just curious as what to expect when starting this. It is supposed to have fewer side effects than the paxil.
Avatar n tn recently stopped taking ProzaC BECAUSE IT SEEMED TO LOOSE ITS EFFICACY..{oops} I'm a psych RN and noticed a lot of Pristiq being ordered. I thought I'd give it a go. It's been about 3 and1/2 wks. The regular G.I. probs have gone away. The bizaare side effect I now have is like a psychotic break. I cant talk because I cannot remember what I have said sentence to sentence. I become aware that I am rambling to the poor other person. I dont even remember what i have just said.
Avatar m tn i am taking zoloft, I have heard of many natural remedies to battle depression. kira St johns with 5htp, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation, specific brand and product?
Avatar f tn Fish oil is said to help with the brain zaps. St. John's Wort is said to help with some of the emotional part of withdrawal. Keep in mind that the taper depends on the person; some fly by, some take forever. But if you're going to continue with your cold turkey attempt because tapering didn't work, the above remedies might ease it a little.
Avatar f tn After trying different meds, the combo that seemed to work best is 2 mg Abilify w/200 mg. Zoloft, in the morning, with 1 mg. xanax up to 4 times a day as needed. After about 10 months, he is groggy, has short term memory loss, sleeps a lot, and seems to be "out of it" a lot. Is it the Xanax? I am worried sick.
Avatar n tn I had taken a low dosage of Klonopin in conjuction with my Zoloft in the past to manage extra stress. A stressful situation has come into my life and I had been debating taking some again. As my prescriber is currently away I was considering taking some of the Klonopin that remained unused from 2 years ago. The suggested expiry date is approximately 18 months passed. My question is not whether I should or should not take it...as ethically I dont believe you can answer the question.
Avatar m tn I suffer chronic depression and have been on Zoloft for years, but when I was preparing to start triple tx with Incivek my doctors first made me change my antidepressant to Cymbalta. Not everyone thinks there is a problem with Zoloft, but one of my doctors was concerned just because it is closely related to another AD that can cause a problem, so out of extreme caution I had to change. I preferred Zoloft, and returned to it as soon as I finished the Incivek stage of tx.
Avatar f tn s making me absolutely miserable and I feel like I am going insane. I have seen a doctor who has prescribed me Latuda and Lamictal. I started out taking Zoloft but it made me much more manic which is how the bi polar diagnosis was made. In addition to the racing thoughts, extreme anxiety I am also severely depressed to the point I am not functioning well. Before the Latuda I was on Zyprexa which made me suicidal. My question is could the Latuda be contributing to the racing thoughts?
445263 tn?1208801416 disclaimer: I'm not a doctor and I'm only offering my non-medical opinion here. That's the disclaimer you could put before just about every post in this forum :-) First, I suggest you tell your doctor exactly how much you're taking. I've messed with doses before and life was just easier when I was honest about it. I called my doctor and left a message that went something like, "I wanted to touch bases with you and ask your opinion.
Avatar n tn I tried Zoloft and now I'm back on Lexapro. Nothing seems to be working.
Avatar m tn They started me on zoloft, then prozac, then lexapro, then back to zoloft at a higher dosage. Then around 7 years ago I started getting panic attacks, so they put me on some benzos along with cymbalta and abilify. Cymbalta was the worst drug I'd ever been on; I felt like a walking zombie... not depressed, just not anything at all. I've been through three or four different talk therapists and a handful of psychiatrists.
Avatar f tn Eleva, better known to us in the US as Zoloft, is acually the most commonly prescribed SSRI antidepressant for anxiety disorders...that's because not only does it have a pretty good track record as far as effectiveness, but also, it's easy to tolerate for most people. I myself have had fabulous results with Zoloft. I was experiencing debilitating panic attacks and was almost completely housebound when I was first diagnosed with PD at age 18.

Avatar m tn s health insurance, only the newer ones are not paid like Cymbalta. Drugs like Zoloft, Prozac, Remeron will not cost you. The therapy would cost you tho. but it is the place to start usually and antidepressants are at maximum efficacy when used with therapy.
4981427 tn?1371670469 ve been back on the zoloft since end of january, taking it religiously, 50mg/day for a month, then 100mg per day for two weeks, new doc switched me to paxil for 8 doses, side effects told me to go back to zoloft (only missed a couple of doses of zoloft) now back on zoloft for about 3 weeks and increase to 150mg for 1 1/2 weeks. My question is, did i give it long enough, should I wait some more.
Avatar f tn I have taken Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, and Wellbutrin. I know it works differently for everyone, but what I am asking for is YOUR experiences. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I used to be on zoloft for 4 yrs and felt good...stopped for 6 months and on my 3rd week of sertraline right now not feeling as good the first time around. Is there a difference with the two drugs?
Avatar n tn Good article on magnesium but not clear about efficacy of magnesium oil. The seller really hypes it's effectiveness, but I'd like an unbiased opinion.
