Zoloft and paxil

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and paxil

zoloft

Avatar n tn s if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch. Zoloft seems to work very similar to paxil at least it did for me.
Avatar n tn I have an anxeity disorder that triggers OCD and Paxil has worked very very well and given me a great life since being on it. I figure I should try something different to see if it helps the weight gain and if Zoloft doesn't work, or help me to lose the weight then I will have to cut off the wine and go back on Paxil. Suffering from Anxiety *****, but I would take the weight gain over feeling freaky all the time!
527657 tn?1214051850 I read up about both but am wondering if weight gain is a problem with zoloft. As for paxil i gained over 25 pounds and now Im trying to lose it and it sure isnt easy. I found out you don't take zoloft at night but paxil you do. I have got to lose this weight.
Avatar f tn I am on 40mg paxil and 20 mg (break tablet) of zoloft. The zoloft makes me feel really anxious and almost like i am going to have a panic attack but the paxil is still working well enough to stop it. I am worried about when I actually wean off of paxil....if i am going to be a panic attacking freak again. argh. I am so scared to wean off. When I have lowered my dose in the past, I started FREAKING OUT and my face went numb, and I cried and screamed and it was ugggly.
Avatar f tn My dr. After 10 years changes me from Paxil to Zoloft. I immediately was having withdrawal. Called him and he said to take a Paxil, I did he called me in a new script. But now I'm taking 40 mg Paxil and 100 mg Zoloft. Did he mean to just take one pill or or keep taking my Paxil. I'm not so sure. I felt horrible today threw up after waking up way to late. Very dizzy lightheaded. Balance issues. Bad headache.....this is day 4 I've been on both meds. Anyone have any advice?
Avatar f tn I had been on Zoloft for the past 5 months and before that Paxil (the lowest dosages for both). When I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking Zoloft but the depression and anxiety has returned. I would like to go back on Zoloft but am concerned if, because I quit "cold turkey", it's okay to do so. Should I ease back into it, or can I continue to take it as I had been? I've tried contacting my doctor but have not received a response.
Avatar f tn I thought i was on zoloft with the paxil...but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy. thanks so much for caring.
Avatar n tn 5 Paxil Cr to 100 mg Zoloft. Paxil increased my weight and blood pressure. I was on it in varied doses for 5 years. I am 2 wks into switch over, cutting back paxil weekly. I am really tired, mind is racing more. Hope this goes okay, and my weight and blood pressure come down. Anyone else?
1501613 tn?1289319749 Is it safe to take both? I take the Zoloft during the day and Paxil at night because I noticed it helps me sleep.
Avatar n tn If you have panic attacks like I do, then I would advise Zoloft first before Paxil. Zoloft and Paxil are the best medications for panic attacks!! But with Zoloft, it's easier to come off of and less addicting. Plus they work almost identical. Paxil has a more sedating effect and will make you slightly tired at first.
Avatar n tn I was on Paxil for a few months and came off and experienced massive withdrawal, worse then my previous Loratab addiction. I came off cold turkey but immediately switched to Zoloft. I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil.
Avatar n tn He told me to stop taking the paxil and take the zoloft the very next day, and from then on. I have been on zoloft 25mg for the past 3 weeks, and now the horrible withdrawal symptoms have seemed to die down. I wasn't feeling quite up to par last week so i went back to the doctor and he switched me to 50mg of zoloft. I took it for one day and have had horrible akathisia ever since. I switched back to the 25mg of zoloft about 4 days ago, but am still feeling the akathisia.
Avatar f tn The doctor put me on Zoloft 50 mg 2 tab day and 2 tabs evening starting from one tab and tappering off effexor plan. I took zoloft fot about 1&1/2 month but I did not feel god, Now my doctor has changed me to seroxat cr 25mg. The details are as follow: Date: 6th April 2015 Tab Zoloft 50mg (7 Days) 2 tab day + 2 tab nigjht 1 tab day + 2 tab nigjht 1 tab day +1 tab nigjht 0+1 tab nigjht Rivotril 0.
Avatar f tn I do get scared because I was on the Paxil so long with quite a reprieve in attacks and yet Only on Zoloft for 2 yrs and got another bout.
Avatar n tn Fourth, go see a holistic nutritionist and find out what in your diet and life is causing this, and in the meantime try drinking some aloe juice and/or taking deglycerized licorice (DGL) and see if it helps, or some peppermint oil caps. This is a digestive problem, not something that requires getting on an ssri.
Avatar f tn So I've been on paxil for 15 years and most recently switched to Zoloft. The only reason I changed was because I want to have children. Now, I feel totally crazy! Extremely anxious, but out of it. Having suicidal thoughts which is not ok. I have no desire to die. I'm happy in my life. Has anyone else had this problem? I feel completely out of control.
Avatar f tn What was the dose you were at when you stopped taking it and what was the dose of Zoloft? Did your doc taper you off the Paxil at all or just tell you to stop taking it?
Avatar n tn I have been taking 37.5 mg/day of Paxil CR for several years and because my panic attacks were interfering with my ability to work, my medical doctor and psychologist suggested that I switch to 50 mg/day of Zoloft. I am now on day 5 of Zoloft and can NOT stop crying. I'm also dizzy and nauseaous. I feel like I'm losing my mind and want to know if this is "normal" during transitioning from one SSRI to another and if so, WHEN WILL THIS END?
10361664 tn?1409609407 My dr said that maybe should try 20 mg of Paxil at night and in the morning and just stay on the paxil for now cause im getting ready to move in about a month to a new state my husband is already there working...thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar f tn So my doctor started weaning me off paxil 50mg to 40mg for a week then 30mg for three days then 20mg of paxil at night with 25mg of zoloft also at night.I seen the doctor again today and now Im taking 50 mg of zoloft in the morning and 20mg of paxil at night. The reson that I have been on ssri"s is for terrible panic attacks with agoraphobia. I dont know what to do I just cant live like a prisoner in my home any more and thats what the panic attacks do.
Avatar m tn Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing a huge amount of financial and job stress, such that my doctor was concerned enough to put me on Paroxetine HCL (Paxil), starting at 25mg and now 30mg. It is the first drug I have taken for treatment of my issues since 1995 when I was on Xanax for 6 months. I started forgetting to take my pill over the last week or two, and over last weekend just gave up on it, because I just don't feel it's doing anything productive.
Avatar f tn I've had friends switch to Zoloft from Paxil, but not vice versa. I believe Paxil is a milder AD with fewer side effects. I was on Paxil a while ago. It took about a month for it to set in, but it worked really well for me. And my friend who is on AD currently. I wouldn't imagine it should be too difficult, because they're working on the same issue, but you may experience some hiccups as the transition takes place.
Avatar n tn Depression is very normal. However, I have heard and gone through Paxil and that it can cause the opposite affect. It can make depression worse, and if you miss a dose you can see the difference right away. I did alot of research on paxil and worked in Doctors offices and have seen several cases of Paxil causes more harm than good. Don't get me wrong for some people Paxil is great and for others it is bad. The Dr.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to just stop the Paxil 20mg and start Zoloft 50? Or, is tehre some sort of transition that should take place? 2. I briefly looked at Paxil and Zoloft - both seem to have the same possible danger in pregnanacy - newboen pulmonary hypertension? Any comments about this - is there a "safe" anti-depressant for pregnancy?
Avatar f tn s not that simple. Paxil is known to be stronger in its affinity for serotonin receptors than Zoloft, and is very hard to stop taking if you've been on it for awhile. There's absolutely no evidence that starting a new drug before you've withdrawn successfully from the old one works, though I'm sure some people do it well. Your taper off Paxil has been very fast.
1473147 tn?1286917921 So I went to my Dr. and started to get ready for gastric bypass and he said paxil is a weight harboring medication and I switched to zoloft 100mg its been a month and I am miserable!!!! suicidal, agitated, can't sleep, the list goes on and on i want my paxil back is it safe to switch back? how do i do this?
Avatar m tn My mom is 85 and has been taking zoloft and paxil for depression and anxiety attacks. I have noticed recently that she doesn't smile as often and her conversations are limited. Does anyone have any comments on the side effects of taking these two drugs together? I was wondering if she is being over medicated.
1825362 tn?1317883153 I have tried antidepressants such as lexipro... Busprin.... effexor...zoloft and wellbutrin with no success. They made me feel sicker. I could not tolerate them. Felt like I had been poisoned. 7 years ago I was on paxil...... I tolerated that and I am supposed to try paxil again... was to start 3 weeks ago but honestly I am apprehensive as I feel I am just now stabilizing after zoloft and busporin 6 weeks ago. Hepatologist says she won't treat me without anti-depressant first.
