Common Questions and Answers about Zantac with nexium

Avatar m tn Can you please tell me if you can take Nexium 40mg. and Zantac 75mg. together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.
Avatar m tn I don't have indigestion, because I am taking the NEXIUM 40mg. , I was wondering if it is safe to take Zantac 75mg. with it. I have been getting these little pinpoint pimple like things in my mouth and on the roof of my mouth, sides, and the back of my tongue. My doctor said it might be my stomach causing these little pimples, but he never answered me. Does anyone have any answers ? Please Help. These little pimples feel like sandpaper in my throat and are driving me nuts !
Avatar n tn osec with my Celexa. My mom takes nexium with her lexapro.
Avatar m tn Been taking Zantac effervescent regularly and have tried every other drug known to man but the doctor suggested we try 20mg Nexium a day to see if that helps. It has, but after 10 days now I seem to be getting worse again. Also started taking Gaviscon (again) before meals. The question is how long do we take the Nexium? permenently, or stop when I feel better? the doctor was vague abd said the usual; come back in 2 weeks and let me know how you are. Anybody have any side affects?
99627 tn?1301274552 Like I said, it goes Zantac, Prilosec, Prevacid and then Nexium. I never had a problem with Zantac other than it tastes REALLY bad so if you can, go to Osco and get it flavored grape- we tried several flavors and the grape covered the aweful mint taste the best. My niece is also on Zantac right now with no problems.
Avatar f tn I am also taking Nexium and have heard that I should not continue taking Nexium as it can react with the Plavix.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was also diagnosed with the same thing and my Dr gave me Kapidex which is similar to Nexium. After 2 days on the pill, I starting having side effects of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting for almost 3 days. They then switched me to Protonix which I am glad to say is working very well. So like CalGal said, it works differently with different people. Your daughter just needs to find one that works best for her. Good Luck!
88793 tn?1290230777 My gastro Dr prescribed Nexium 40mg twice a day before the gastroscopy. Plus Zantac 150mg before bed. After the gastroscopy, the burns started in my mouth and tongue. I called her but the lady at the receiption called me back and said increased the Nexium 2 tablets twice a day and take some Mucaine think liquid as well. If I increased, it is Nexium 80mg twice a day? Plus Zantac 150mg and Plus Mucaine? Am I listened wrong? Or anyone here with that dosage safe?

Avatar m tn Are you replacing the Nexium with another medication? If not you are going to have the acid problem regardless.
Avatar n tn Tried 6 weeks. Zantac: racing heart, nervousness and no help with heartburn, If any helped me to gain the weight back and eat again then I would have tried longer. On DGL for 11 days now , Can't eat new foods yet, Still have bad days, But hoping to give it time. Did you loose weight or find certain foodds aggrevate more? What does blue finger nails mean? Thinking too much Vit A or not enough ? The tummy , heartburn dilema continues..........
Avatar n tn Another option that you can discuss with your physician is taking an H2 blocker (i.e. Zantac, Pepcid) in addition to the Nexium. As for obtaining a GI referral, unfortunately, they are lengthy. In my area, they range from 2-3 months. Your PCP should be able to expidite the process. Followup with your personal physician is essential. This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice - the information presented is for patient education only.
Avatar n tn Yesterday however, I had a visit with my OBGYN who is completely against nexium, prilosec or any other drug except for zantac. I tried taking zantac, but I do not feel any relief whatsoever. I consulted pharmacists and other doctors who clearly state that it is safe to take nexium during pregnancy. I am sure I am not the only pregnant woman with this problem, can someone please advise as to whether nexium is safe to take during pregnancy and if you actually took it and your babies are healthy.
Avatar m tn Today my dad bought me some Zantac 150 from the store. Is it okay if I try this for awhile? Are there any side effects? Is it even meant for Acid Reflux? It mostly talks heartburn Thanks!
213739 tn?1215489609 that showed severe esophagitis, an ulcer, lots of erosion 'Bad spots' as they called them, and an inflamed dueodenum. They immediately put him on Nexium and he's been on adult Nexium 20 mg three times per day for the past 21 months. He does not eat solids. He drinks Pediasure and will eat babyfood bananas but not consistently. At his 3 year check-up, I asked his Ped. if I could wean him off of the Nexium. She said not until he was eating a wide variety of solids.
Avatar n tn If your GP is treating you with Zantac, Nexium, and Losec, she/he must have good reason to believe that your discomfort is the result of reflux and not a heart problem. I understand your anxiety, but sometimes it takes a while for the medicine to really kick in. It also would be helpful to follow the GERD diet and lifestyle suggestions in "Dr. Tomasello's" post that I referred to above (if you are not already doing so).
Avatar n tn My endoscopys revealed nothing aside from irritation of the stomach lining and I've been having these symptoms for about five years. As I said nexium helps with the acid but not the lead weight on those special days.
Avatar n tn I tried all the overcounter anacids, zantac, carafat, and finally prilosec and Nexium. I have been on Nexium for 15 years (give or take). Started at 40mg, went to 80mg about 8 years ago and just recently (nov '08) was put on 120mg. I am concerned about the dosage and log term affects. I have been seeing a nutritionist for just over a year and she has me on many digestive supplements (I have ulcerative colitis as well), herbs, pro-biotics and vitamins (B-12, B-complex, zinc).
Avatar n tn 7/23/03 i have gerd and a non-noticeable small hiatal hernia.i was taking zantac 150 for many years and now i am taking nexium. i seem to have gastric distress in abdomen, stomach and gi tract, almost daily, lately. was more or less under control a few weeks ago. i am 66 yrs. old. i felt my abd.distress may have been from taking zocor for cholesterol. tried other statins in the past and had similar response with abd.distress. much gas.mostly at distal end of esophagitis.
Avatar f tn I went to my Dr today and told me to take nexium, is the safest thing right now, and my nurse told me that in Walmart they have a sale, 42 pills for $23.
Avatar f tn Thanks, I wasnt sure what was safe to take
Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male, and I was diagnosed with GERD around a year ago after getting an upper endoscopy. I was prescribed Nexium, and it seems to be working very well. Sometimes, I have an issue where I wake up in the middle of the night and feel like I have to go to the bathroom. My stomach will cramp very badly. When I go and sit on the toilet, my stomach will cramp even more, and I'll break out into a cold sweat. I start feeling nauseous, and there's only a little in the bowl.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with sliding hiatal hernia, GERD,and have a Slotchosky's(sp) ring. I have used Prilosec, Previcid, Zantac to no effect. I eat early in the evening and usually very light. Even though heart checks out ok I have serious sharp pains in the center of my chest at night when I lie down to sleep. Sometimes there are spasms as well. I usually take Tylenol and some kind of antiacid which helps, but not always. It usually calms down about 1am or so.
Avatar f tn I recently stopped Pepcid due to dizziness and hallucinations, and found that it had also been the cause of unexplained itching and right leg pain (all subsided when I stopped the med). I have had chest pain on Nexium and zantac. Now that I am on the Prilosec, I am having shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, and malaise. Is this serious? If I have H.
1384961 tn?1279503008 I tried nexium ,zantac, prilosec, nothing works... About two months ago i would notice blood in my stool occasionally and I would have diarrhea for a day and then it would disappear.. went to the er they said i was positive for blood and did nothing about it.. All my x rays ,ct scans and ultrasounds and blood work came back fine... but the diarrhea hits me off and on now often and i see the blood more often now!!!!Any help what could this be????
Avatar n tn Our Daughter also takes Nexium along with Zantac. She was also diagnosed with Motility disorder( her digestive tract does not function at the proper speed) and takes a drug called Domperidone for that. Does your daughter refuse to eat breakfast or wants it hours after getting up? That is common with people with reflux problems. Definately watch how late at night she eats. If pediasure is what she wants right now, let her drink that. If you don't find the Zantac is working, go back.
Avatar f tn I don't know where you live but here in Australia you need a doctor's prescription for the Zantac. I've suffered for over 20 years with this crap, and these things are the best I have been able to. Try them out - you have nothing to lose. The first thing I would do is the Swedish bitters - if it works it's virtually instant relief. Ditto the Zantac. The slippry elm is more to protect things before the food hits. Also I cannot tolerate fresh fruit, vegetasble, juice, coffee or coke.
910435 tn?1296752210 Start taking Nexium again and QUIT stopping it when feeling good! Reminder to self: Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) !!
544341 tn?1234992477 All 4 of my boys had reflux but my youngest 2 were the worst. They had to be on combos of meds together. Prevacid in the morning and zantac at night along with that we did carafate every few hours and a motility drug every few hours. Along with prethickened formula. Nathan was allergic to dairy & soy protein so he was on a prescription formula called Neocate for the longest time. He then went to an OTC hypallergenic formula.
