Avatar m tn I don't have indigestion, because I am taking the NEXIUM 40mg. , I was wondering if it is safe to take Zantac 75mg. with it. I have been getting these little pinpoint pimple like things in my mouth and on the roof of my mouth, sides, and the back of my tongue. My doctor said it might be my stomach causing these little pimples, but he never answered me. Does anyone have any answers ? Please Help. These little pimples feel like sandpaper in my throat and are driving me nuts !
Avatar m tn It has, but after 10 days now I seem to be getting worse again. Also started taking Gaviscon (again) before meals. The question is how long do we take the Nexium? permenently, or stop when I feel better? the doctor was vague abd said the usual; come back in 2 weeks and let me know how you are. Anybody have any side affects?
Avatar f tn I am also taking Nexium and have heard that I should not continue taking Nexium as it can react with the Plavix.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 19yrs old, and have had GERD for 7yrs now, but was only properly diagnosed at 16yrs old, and I have been taking Nexium for 10 months now. My last doctor told me I'd be taking Nexium for the rest of my life, and gave me a 6 month prescription before I moved (2 months ago). Is Nexium safe to use long term or not? Have there been any tests? I can't see a doctor until a month or 2 yet because I am not eligible for a medical plan here until then.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was also diagnosed with the same thing and my Dr gave me Kapidex which is similar to Nexium. After 2 days on the pill, I starting having side effects of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting for almost 3 days. They then switched me to Protonix which I am glad to say is working very well. So like CalGal said, it works differently with different people. Your daughter just needs to find one that works best for her. Good Luck!
88793 tn?1290230777 My gastro Dr prescribed Nexium 40mg twice a day before the gastroscopy. Plus Zantac 150mg before bed. After the gastroscopy, the burns started in my mouth and tongue. I called her but the lady at the receiption called me back and said increased the Nexium 2 tablets twice a day and take some Mucaine think liquid as well. If I increased, it is Nexium 80mg twice a day? Plus Zantac 150mg and Plus Mucaine? Am I listened wrong? Or anyone here with that dosage safe?

Avatar n tn I have been taking nexium 2 times a day for about 2 months now, luckily with no side effects to speak of, unfortunately I also have the cough, it drives me nuts and needless to say I do not sleep well from it unless I take the prescription cough medicine. I do find diet and not eating or lying down after a certain time does help also along with the elevation of the bed. Has your cough ever left you?
Avatar n tn Another option that you can discuss with your physician is taking an H2 blocker (i.e. Zantac, Pepcid) in addition to the Nexium. As for obtaining a GI referral, unfortunately, they are lengthy. In my area, they range from 2-3 months. Your PCP should be able to expidite the process. Followup with your personal physician is essential. This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice - the information presented is for patient education only.
Avatar n tn Yesterday however, I had a visit with my OBGYN who is completely against nexium, prilosec or any other drug except for zantac. I tried taking zantac, but I do not feel any relief whatsoever. I consulted pharmacists and other doctors who clearly state that it is safe to take nexium during pregnancy. I am sure I am not the only pregnant woman with this problem, can someone please advise as to whether nexium is safe to take during pregnancy and if you actually took it and your babies are healthy.
485077 tn?1222623740 Also - if you could eat even an english muffin with a bunch of butter on it or a bagel with cream cheese.......something kind of simple it would work. It doesn't have to be heavy greasy fried type foods (thank God they KILLED me during tx I could not eat any of them at all). Or how about even a milkshake or a bowl of ice cream? Certainly is plenty of fat in the cream right?
Avatar n tn My endoscopys revealed nothing aside from irritation of the stomach lining and I've been having these symptoms for about five years. As I said nexium helps with the acid but not the lead weight on those special days.

The acid in the stomach not only serves the purpose of digesting food and absorbing minerals, but helps to kill bacteria, yeast, and parasites that we might ingest. low protein is associated with many degenerative disorders, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, and arthritic disorders. Avatar n tn I tried all the overcounter anacids, zantac, carafat, and finally prilosec and Nexium. I have been on Nexium for 15 years (give or take). Started at 40mg, went to 80mg about 8 years ago and just recently (nov '08) was put on 120mg. I am concerned about the dosage and log term affects. I have been seeing a nutritionist for just over a year and she has me on many digestive supplements (I have ulcerative colitis as well), herbs, pro-biotics and vitamins (B-12, B-complex, zinc).
Avatar n tn 7/23/03 i have gerd and a non-noticeable small hiatal hernia.i was taking zantac 150 for many years and now i am taking nexium. i seem to have gastric distress in abdomen, stomach and gi tract, almost daily, lately. was more or less under control a few weeks ago. i am 66 yrs. old. i felt my abd.distress may have been from taking zocor for cholesterol. tried other statins in the past and had similar response with abd.distress. much gas.mostly at distal end of esophagitis.
Avatar f tn B12 is absorbed best in the presence of stomach acid, so if you take antiacids or meds like Prilosec, Nexium, Zantac, Pepcid, etc for an extended period of time then your deficiency could be on the basis of failure to absorb. Yes, the healing of the nerve damage from B12 deficiency can take many months. Long before you start thinking about MS, get the B12 thing evaluated and treated!! It will save you a lot of bad nights.
910435 tn?1296752210 Start taking Nexium again and QUIT stopping it when feeling good! Reminder to self: Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) !!
Avatar f tn I recently stopped Pepcid due to dizziness and hallucinations, and found that it had also been the cause of unexplained itching and right leg pain (all subsided when I stopped the med). I have had chest pain on Nexium and zantac. Now that I am on the Prilosec, I am having shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, and malaise. Is this serious? If I have H.
Avatar n tn MAKE SURE THE HERBS DON'T REACT BADLY WITH ANY MEDICATION YOU MIGHT BE TAKING. CHECK WITH A GOOD PHARMACIST ABOUT THIS. (4) Have you gone to a health food store AND a good bookstore to look for books about regular and natural treatments for all your conditions? Such books can give you valuable food for thought. You can then lead your doctor to help you better. (5) And, yes--get that second opinion from an EXPERT GASTRO-INTESTINAL DOC!!! Good luck to you! I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn Our Daughter also takes Nexium along with Zantac. She was also diagnosed with Motility disorder( her digestive tract does not function at the proper speed) and takes a drug called Domperidone for that. Does your daughter refuse to eat breakfast or wants it hours after getting up? That is common with people with reflux problems. Definately watch how late at night she eats. If pediasure is what she wants right now, let her drink that. If you don't find the Zantac is working, go back.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I have been taking Lipitor (Simvastatim is generic) and Nexium, Zantac for the past 10 years. The one is for high Cholestorol and the other to treat GERD. It should not be a problem.
Avatar f tn Try taking a half glass of carbonated water (mineral or soda) with about a teaspoon of Swedish Bitters (from the health food store) and see want happens. Take it when you feel like a good burp. A couple of times a day. Also try Slippry Elm powder also from the health food store - take about a teaspoonful mixed in room temperature water before you eat. As often as you eat I mean. Don't mix it in juice like they say, just water.
Avatar m tn Hello Everyone! I'm new here, and I'm extremely happy to have found a forum open to health discussion. I joined because I've been having issues with a strange form of "acid reflux" for approximately 11 months. I've been treated symptomatically since diagnosis but to no resolve. Doctors have not determined a cause. Perhaps you guys can help me out. I'll review my diagnosis, treatments and symptoms to help you better evaluate my situation.
Avatar m tn After multiple doctors visits, I have been diagnosed with LPR. The ENT put me on Nexium ??mg twice per day. I have been taking the Nexium for about a month now. I have a couple of questions. Are swollen submandibular lymph nodes a common symptom of LPR? I have only seen in one place where someone says swollen lymph nodes are a symptom of LPR. The other general information websites do not mention it Question 2: How long does it take to get better?
544341 tn?1234992477 All 4 of my boys had reflux but my youngest 2 were the worst. They had to be on combos of meds together. Prevacid in the morning and zantac at night along with that we did carafate every few hours and a motility drug every few hours. Along with prethickened formula. Nathan was allergic to dairy & soy protein so he was on a prescription formula called Neocate for the longest time. He then went to an OTC hypallergenic formula.
Avatar n tn I'm having a problem with taking the vertex with food at these odd hours too. I took pln's advice and started having my last dose with a glass of whole milk. I saw my study doctor today and he suggested a piece of pizza. Do you find the vertex has a really bitter taste? If I don't take it with a lot of water, or if I take too long to get one out of the package, they leave a really nasty after taste. Do you know how your ALTs have been affected so far?
Avatar f tn Still, didn't get the burn more than once a week for a few years and now for the last year I have been getting heartburn anywhere from 0 to 6 times a week. I was getting it daily and popping tums and zantac like crazy. Finally went on nexium for 3 months (just over a year ago). At times it worked, other days I felt as if I should take 2. Then a miracle happened - I was cured for 3 months!
Avatar n tn Hi not sure what ur question is....I am sure the Dr that RX'd this testing knows about what meds u r on and if it would be an issue he would have advised u.... Let us know how it goes and what results u get.
