zantac for baby reflux

my 14 weeks baby girl weighing 12 pounds spits up at least 3 to 4 times every feed (4 feeds per day) and she burps many times as well and she gets all cranky and fussy while burping or spitting.. She doesn't cry excessively but she just seems annoyed and we need to keep distracting her..

I take Zantac 150 once a day as prescribed by my Dr. I've had terrible acid reflux and it seems to be helpful. It's safe ..my neighbor gives her 4 month old baby zantac for silent reflux as prescribed by her pediatrician.

My daughter kept aspirating so they had to thickenher milk by adding rice cereal to her formula and also giving her zantac. Zantac works well for acid reflux she's able to eat without spitting up. Everything will be fine .

Hi, my son is 1 month 1/2 old and suffers from reflux. His pediatrician put him on zantac about 2 weeks ago and now again 2 days ago. I'm not seeing much improvements since he is still spitting up and sometimes it just goes back down. I also feel that he has had colic, since he cries out of no where with such a great force. I was mostly breastfeeding and he was drinking formula (similac advance) as well but maybe just about 2 oz. every other feeding.

I take the Walmart brand of Zantac sometimes twice a day. I took it for the last 3 to 4 months Of my first pregnancy and it never went away and so when I got pregnant again I took it and get bad and the Dr said 2 a day was safe and so here I am baby 3 and taking it and all my babies are fine :-D take a Zantac don't struggle.

Yes I have it super bad my doctor told me I can take Zantac 75 omg go to the store get it I wish I would have asked earlier it's been my savor I take it around 3 pm so it lasts all nite so over the tums I only have to at times take like one a day if that trust me go get Zantac ASAP good luck :)

I used to take tums but with this baby it was horrible! Zantac works wonders! But you can't take it as needed its every 12 hours to make it work.. I know that I try and stay away from tomato sauce and spicy things because Zantac hasn't covered those! Lol good luck!

Oh poor baby! My daughter had reflux really bad too the zantac should help. It's an acid reducer so while the baby will still have reflux it won't be so acidic and shouldn't cause as much pain or discomfort. You can also try putting a blanket under the head of the mattress to keep her head slightly inclined. Even an inch or two can help. The good thing is that they grow out of reflux as they get older. I took it in my pregnancy in the last trimester, one a day before bed and my baby is a healthy 8 week old now. I had really bad reflux and nothing else I tried worked. My Dr said it was ok to take since I was only having one a day. If I were you I would take your doctor's advice. Good luck.

Yeah its not pleasant at all when you first take it but I'm 39 weeks and having my baby in a couple days so I'm not going to buy any more meds for that! I used to take zantac 150mg and it works wonders if you'd like to try that!

Will that harm the baby my doctor prescribed me prilosec and I'm a little hesitant about taking them

The doctor wound up having me take Prilosec OTC. It was the only thing that worked for me. My daughter suffered from horrible acid reflux from birth until she outgrew it at 18 months. I know genetics play a huge role in acid reflux...but I always wondered if having to use Prilosec during pregnancy caused part of my daughter's reflux? I am only 12 weeks and already have heartburn...I'm suffering but scared to even use Tums!

Does anyone know of any over the counter medicine that safe to take while pregnant and having acid reflux? Ive been using tums and im not gonna lie it did help out alot at first but it seems since my beebee has dropped my reflux has gotten worse. Believe me i was looking forward to her dropping to relieve some of the reflux but unfortunately it hasn't. Thanks.

hey guys so I have really bad reflux I'll early wake up every night to throw up and I can't go back to sleep. My doctors gave me protonix 40 milligrams but I took it two times and it seemed to work but the baby wasn't moving very much so it scared me a lot so I stopped taking it in the baby back to moving again.

s when I take a zantac and it helps to slow down my vomiting too. Hope you feel better soon, congrats on baby and best wishes.

i woke up throwing up from acid reflux last week because laying flat makes it worse. during the day i would be afraid to even burp bc i knew stomach acid would come up it was awful! I've been taking zantac (my dr said it is ok to take) for the last week and its completely gone. I don't even have to take it every day now that its under control.

I haven't taken a zantac today and my burning subsided a bit. I'm still very nauseated and feel like I have something warm and a slight burn in my throat. I got prevacid to start trying to see if that will give me more relief. I also feel as though sometimes I have too much saliva in my mouth. I'm assuming this can all probably be chalked up to acid reflux? Hopefully the prevacid helps.

My two year old had reflux really bad was less than 5th percentile until she hit about 15 months...luckily Zantac worked wonders for her at 10 days old and she was on it till about 15 months...we just had to get her weighed regularly to adjust the doses. Abby is a month old...has the same reflux issues except the Zantac hasnt worked and now the Previcid isnt working. We have to take her monday to see a pediatric GI dr. WTF?!?! I was hoping my first was a fluke thing...

Anyone else have really bad acid reflux to the point where i can't even help my son with his shoes because i get sick.

Brock is on Zantac for the reflux. I have no clue if it works or not. He also has cereal in his bottle, and we switched to soy. He still has super fussy times, even after feeding, diaper, napping...I am starting to think baby #1 is my high maintenance baby, so #2 better be easy going! Good luck...hope it works for Hayden! We also have a blanket under his crib mattress, about a 30 degree angle, for help with the reflux.

What do you ladies take for acid reflux? I'm 31 weeks and a few days and the past three weeks I've been waking up from a dead sleep vomiting from acid reflux. It gets up into my nose. The lining of my throat is burning. I have a cold right now too and asthma so vomiting and coughing is literally killing my throat. I just woke up from sleeping and threw up so badly I peed my pants. I'm so over this. I cant have Zantac because I'm super allergic.

I have always had acid reflux so pregnancy only intensified it, so, my obgyn recommends that I take no more than two zantac tables (75mg each) a day and it works instantly. ..i just woke up from my sleep to take one because the "throat fire" can get a little fierce. Definitely try zantac...best wishes...congrats on baby and feel better.

I started taking Zantac for severe acid reflux at the beginning of my third trimester. It worked wonders and I highly recommend it. Zantac is considered to be the safest during pregnancy. My prescription was for 150mg twice a day, but I only took it once a day (around 4:30pm) just because I was paranoid about taking meds while pregnant. Tums was like chewing air, it did nothing for me either. Sorry you're experiencing the reflux too - it is miserable, but it DOES go away after delivery.

d agree with the acid reflux possibility. Be good to get the baby checked out. Try different feeding positions too.

ZANTAC, ZANTAC, ZANTAC!!! I started getting it early with this pregnancy too, and at 11 weeks I asked for it because it helped when I was pregnant with Elijah. It's AWESOME!!! I've only had it maybe two times since in the last 3, almost 4 weeks. Try to avoid foods that will make it worse, like tomato sauces, or acidic things like orange juice...I hope it gets better soon!!!
