557644 tn?1222822602 I have a West Highland Terrier and he has skin allergies. He was having problems with yeast infections in his ears too. The vet said our dog probably has food allergies, so he prescribed a special dog food and prescribed medication, which helped the itching tremendously while he was on it.
Avatar n tn an urinary tract infection, vaginal infection, or an infection of the skin of the perivulvar area. The infection could be bacterial, yeast, or a combination. Usually urinary tract infections are accompanied by the symptoms of increased frequency of urination, and/or drinking, dribbling, or inappropriate urination. However, occasionally the only symptom is licking the vulvar area.
Avatar f tn Causes for itchy feet include allergies (ie to pollen, grass, or food), bacterial or yeast skin infections, and skin mites/parasites. The bad odor suggests that infection is present, and veterinary exam is needed to identify the type of infection so that appropriate medications can be prescribed. The bad breath may also be due to dental disease.
Avatar n tn I have been having yeast infections for the last 2 yeast off and on, been to many docs and still cant get them to stay away. I have been on flygal, diflucan, creams and all why do they keep comeing back what can i do to keep them away? PLEASE HELP!
1241045 tn?1268250883 Well the only thing to do is somehow get her the test even though you say its expensive...Put it on a credit card or borrow the money from a family member. Its not fair that she would suffer with this and if she is licking her paws it is bothering her..
Avatar m tn If you are unsure, take him to the vet for a skin scraping test. He may need a subcutaneus injection plus a medicated shampoo.
Avatar f tn Is there anyway to prevent yeast infections? Other than staying clean down there. This is my 4th pregnancy and I get them constantly throughout my pregnancy. I'm 4 weeks along and already have developed my first one.
Avatar n tn Fluconazole 150mg is a one single dose capsule for Thrush which is a yeast infection. The doctor prescribed it for me as I tend to get Thrush infections after antibiotics. Don't know which country you live in, but in the UK you can Canesten, Canesten HC and Trimovate. Some you can buy over the counter, other medications can only be prescribed by the doctor. If you are sexually active, make sure your partner is treated too, otherwise you just spread it to each other.
Avatar f tn things, and I hope your special shampoo is a dog shampoo specifically for treatment of Yeast, bacterial skin problems. The smell speaks to the likelihood of Yeast. Side issue, it appears the "6" for your dog's age also got ported to the age shown for you, in your profile. You may want to correct that. Our Westie has many of the same problems with skin, ears, paws... and he has been treated by the vet for some infections in the ears and skin.
Avatar f tn Ketoconazole is an antifungal drug. Unless your dog's anal gland problem is being caused by yeast, it's not going to do anything and if your dog is taking any other medications for anything, it could cause a deadly drug interaction. You also need to monitor your dog's liver function while it is taking ketoconazolek since liver failure is one of the most common side effects of thd drug.
Avatar n tn I applied apple vinegar and that area turns white. I have had this off and on for about a year. I have not gone to a dermatologist because I a few years ago I had yeast infection on my glans, was given prescribed medication and it did not work. I got that yeast cleared with cinnamon bark oil. Is yeast infection the same as a fungus? Is there any oral medication I can purchase and try? Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you.
689528 tn?1364135841 Some ideas...not sure if you've tried these already. 1) Rule out/experiment to determine if this is possible Food Allergies: You mentioned switching dog food to one that is wheat and corn free. One of my female pointer dogs racked up numerous vet bills where they did skin scrapings, I tried benadryl, vet put her on repeated courses of antibiotics and prednisone and none of these resolved her ongoing skin issues.
1805569 tn?1316138010 Hi, new to the site and would so appreciate any advice. I was bathing my dog today and noticed a dark red blister-type of bump on my dog's face. It's on the right side of his face, between his right eye and right whisker-area... It is about the size a pea, and feels like a scab. I wish there were a way I could post a photo... It is round, dark red, hard, slightly raised but more flat to his skin, and looks for the most part dry, with a little bit of liquid on the edges.
Avatar n tn Has your dog been evaluated for yeast dermatitis? Yeast dermatitis causes a blackening or darkening of the skin called hyperpigmentation. It can be secondary to Atopy (allergies from the environment or food that affect the skin). The other possibility is that the dark spots are large freckles or tanned areas on your dog's skin (YES! Dogs, cats, horses, cows and other species, freckle, burn and tan from the sun), and this of course is natural and not a pathological condition.
Avatar n tn My GF has a yeast infection and also some illness that makes her cough a lot (it may not be bronchitis). The yeast infection has spread to me, and although I have temporary relief using MICONAZOLE NITRATE, the tip of the foreskin still has some flakeyness and it feels like the foreskin is shrinking. I posted this because I noticed that someone else had the same problem and also mentioned that the girl may have bronchitis. Could there be a link?
Avatar f tn I have a fair bit of discharge, the skin on my vagina peels and when I pee it REALLY hurts and feels like its burning the skin on my vagina, like when you put dettol on a wound. I also have large, sore, pimple like bumps on my pubic area. I have Googled my symptoms and the closest thing to it is a yeast infection. Is that what it is or is it something else?
Avatar f tn Harvey is a german shepherd, 2 years old, he is suffering from scabies, or sarcoptes scabae, it's a skin disease, the vet said, there are miniature mites or hives living in my dog's skin. They already give all the medicine, but harvey is still suffering for this disease. The worst is they told me that the only choice is mercy killing... because they already done their best as possible. But harvey is still eating and strong, so please help me find a treatment for my dog harvey...
Avatar n tn My ShihTzu gets yeast odor very easily when not on this shampoo. Also has had the red you talk about and it was a moist yeast infection in my dog's case in the area you describe and cream for a week cleared it up ok. Then she ended up with that in her ears recently and liquid of the same med worked fine.
Avatar f tn Without an exam, I cannot say if he has a skin infection, but both bacterial and yeast skin infections can create odor, as well as hairloss and itching, and I recommend that he be evaluated by your veterinarian or veterinary dermatologist to find out if skin infection is present. If so, then oral antibiotics will be needed.
Avatar f tn Absolutely! Yeast infections have nothing to do with you being a virgin or not. Even newborn babies get yeast infections, so don't worry. Yeast likes moist, dark places, and all women, regardless if we are virgins, short, tall, skinny, fat, white, black, purple, all woman have moist, dark places. A yeast infection is caused by Candida Albicans. We all have it present in our vaginas in small amounts, but sometimes they grow like crazy, and that is when we get a yeast infection....
Avatar n tn Untreated, the blood will slowly be resorbed by the body, leaving a crinkled, scarred ear. If surgery is not a financial option, and if a scarred ear pinna is not cosmetically objectionable to you, then the hematoma can be left untreated. However, I will mention the caveat that aural hematomas do not form spontaneously; there is usually an underlying cause such as a puncture wound, a foreign object such as a grass seed in the ear, or most commonly allergies and secondary ear infections.
Avatar f tn However, a bacterial infection is possible, too...A skin parasite is another culprit of skin disorders...All are EASY to diagnose from a skin test....Has your Vet prescribed antibiotics for him yet? He sounds as if he needs something! Has your Vet done a skin scrape to determine what your dog's dealing with? Let me know what you and your Vet have used to treat him so far....What medications or shampoos have you used? What food do you feed? How old is your dog? Let me know...
Avatar f tn Are you sure the smell is the dog's breath? A skin disorder/dermatitis called Yeast causes all the symptoms you mentioned, including bad smell, often from the ears. Look into the ear channel with a bright light and reading glasses if needed. It should be clean, no gunk. The vet should have been able to detect Yeast, so maybe not that. Does the dog lick, scratch and chew any of the area it can reach? Another sign of Yeast.
