Common Questions and Answers about Yaz for depression

yaz

178590 tn?1294176767 I was on Yaz for a few months, it is the DEVIL! I had anxiety attacks, mood swings, depression, terrible yeast infections, and trust me the list goes on and on and on. I found a forum on here talking about Yaz and over 250 women replied to it and ALL of them had horrible issues with this birth control. Please get off of it ASAP. You'll feel much better, I promise!
Avatar f tn s when he said he was going to remove it but I had all the signs of endo, not complications from that. He put me on Yaz and I was regular for about 2 months. Since then, my symptoms have returned only worse. I finally went back today and they still strongly suspect it. I am waiting out a surgery to see if any hormone therapy will do the trick because I have to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants me to try loestrin 24 for 3 months. My question is, does anyone have experience with both?
Avatar f tn I am 18 years old and I've been taking the birth control, Yaz, for about 2 years now I also have a history of mild depression, but I've never taken any medication for it. I'm no stranger to feeling sad and sensitive, but lately everything has been upsetting me more than usual, and when nothing is wrong I feel sad and have a lack of motivation more severe than it's ever been.
Avatar f tn Yes, it can cause depression and anxiety symptoms. For a lot of people, those will resolve after being on it for a week or so, it just depends. Definitely talk with your doc about how you're feeling. Good luck!
405998 tn?1222396217 I don't know about using Yaz to shrink cysts, but I was on Yaz for years until I eventually had breakthrough bleeding and had to stop. Yaz was the only birth control pills that didn't make me feel crazy from mood swings or depression. I see those lawyer ads on TV also, but I really liked Yaz.
Avatar m tn I have been on yaz for a year and I have noticed that since then I have been suffering from anxiety, panic attacks and depression. This is not like me at all and have even gone to the point of therapy. A major side effect of the pill is depression and I know this is what is causing this. Last week I had switched to the brand Loett to see if it makes a difference. I know this could take a few months to notice change but now I'm considering coming off it all together.
Avatar f tn if i were you i would check with your doc but alot of what your goin through sounds like me when i was on yaz... i have never taken meds for depression but while on yaz the dr said i might need it.. once i quit takn the yaz i was alot better and i mean alot.. my husband and i were really talkin about seperating because of how unhappy i was and i didnt know what was goin on.. didnt want sex didnt want to be around the kids didnt want to be in the family...
Avatar f tn I have been taking Yaz for about 4 months now. I am almost ready to go to the doctor for my depression and anxiety. Then, I started researching my pill (Yaz) and have found that these symptoms are likely related to this pill. I want to stop taking it and my husband is in support of that. However, I have read about terrible side effects from people that stopped, too. Anyone have experiences to share?
Avatar f tn m on the medication to, trying to feel it out for my first month. Keep me posted on updates on Yaz and God bless!
Avatar f tn I was just wondering a) if anybody else has felt sick on Yaz; b) if going off it helped; and c) how long it took for the pill to get out of your system? Thanks for any help. (I'm 18).
737515 tn?1252552423 There was more bad days than good days though,so i quit. I was on ortho tricyclen lo, then on Yaz. Both caused anxiety/depression. I think the hormones in the pills just effect peoples bodies differently, meaning theres no answer. Maybe someday, when doctors pay more attention to the psychological side effects.
Avatar f tn I see from the MedHelp drug database that Yaz is actually prescribed sometimes for depression -so that can only mean it does effect your emotions. I think this is a doctor question, so I hope you will ask about it -and tell us what you learn. Medhelp has a very thorough drug database. To get to it, enter the name of any drug in the search box at the upper right of your screen and click "Go.
Avatar f tn I AM NOW SEEING ALOT OF LAWSUITS BEING ADVERTISED FOR YAZ....SIDEEFFECTS BEING BLOOD CLOTS, PULMONARY ISSUES AND SO ON ....HAS ANYONE HAD ISSUES WITH YAZ AND WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT....WHAT CAN I ALSO DO FOR THE MOODS...ANY SUGGESTIONS...
Avatar f tn I was on Yaz for six months, and started having anxiety attacks about once a month. Then after I quit I felt better for a while, but it seems like at 3 months off and six months off things would get worse for a period of time. Like Ginger said above, you may need to try to take extra care of yourself: taking vitamins, eating healthy, exercise and rest. Your body will balance out eventually.
Avatar n tn I started taking Generess FE 2 weeks ago. I was previously on Yaz for 4 years(no issues), took a break for a year, and started with the pill again. Since I have been taking the new birth control, I have felt so uncontrollably sad. I cry all the time, and I even had a panic attack! This is by far the WORST side effect, but I am also experiencing nausea. I would just like to know how long will this depression/anxiety last? It's really starting to take a toll on my daily life.
Avatar n tn m new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar f tn I've been using Yaz for about 3 months now and I haven't had any major side effects. I bled for the first two weeks and after that, I've been regular. After reading some of the posts here though, I'm scared. Many people are saying they are getting bad side effects like mood swings and depression. I'm very nervous that I'll start getting them now. Any advice?... Thank you so much.
869854 tn?1239978206 I have been off the pill for years. I had no luck with the copper iud for 4 years hormone free but the bleeding never go less and the duration never did either. The nuva ring made me depressed tried that for 4 mnths after the iud. I am 39 and my hormones are changing greatly my which they say can happen at this age. my normal periods all my life are changing to every 21 day last period came 109 days later. My GYNsuggeseted the pill. Even though I am against hormones.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, my name is Megan. I was on Yaz for about 2 years off and on. I started taking Yaz when I was about 17 years old to regulate my menstrual cycles. In the beginning when I was taking it, I had lost weight and noticed that i barely has problems with my cysts on my ovaries. It seemed to have shrunken them.I was doing fine for about a year, and stopped taking the pill.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Yaz for 6 months and have not had a period AT ALL for 3 months, no spotting nothing! I like the pill in general but I hate not knowing if im preggo month to month...My face broke out bad the first month also...
697574 tn?1273955747 Recently I have been getting very depressed the week of my period to the point where I will just cry. I take YAZ so as soon as those 4 days of taking the blank pill I feel like my mood just crashes. I started to take a antidepressant 2 months ago and that was the first time I experienced such a low mood, I usually get more emotional but I felt like it was doubled. Is it normal to get so sad and randomly cry during that time? What can I do?
727136 tn?1231182664 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
519035 tn?1348275773 How many of you have been successful at this time for your blood work. What birth control pills if any are you guys taking???? I am on yaz. but so far not helped with pms. I started pms'ing about three days ago blaming it on synthroid lol! i have extreme hot flashes, depression, mood swings, I feel like my body is out of control, which we already know it is! Thanks!
Avatar f tn If i come off it I think I will go mental (as i have tried before) I have heard alot of bad things about YAZ and I was also told that BCP are not responsible for weight gain. If you are gaining weight I would ask for another Ultrasound to see if you have any cysts. I totally understand how you feel. I was always around 120-130 but since this endo business I seem to fluctuate between 140-155. I cant stand it and I have lots and lots of cellulite. It is so depressing I do agree with you.
Avatar f tn I did not eat for over a month, just drank ensure and lost 30 lbs. I went to the doc and was treated for Anxiety/Depression with Zoloft and recently have been put on YAZ. I have very bad night sweats (wake up damp), no hot flashes, hair loss, dry skin, anxiety which gets worse before period, dry hair, itchy skin, temp has been running at 97, headaches were bad until I started taking YAZ, allergies which I have never had, etc. Anyone thinking this sounds like peri-menopause?
Avatar f tn I was on Yaz for probably 4 years and slowly over time I noticed my symptoms would get worse. The biggest thing I noticed was my depleting sex drive and becoming extremely emotional, especially a week or so before my period. Last week I had a nervous breakdown that seemed to come out of nowhere and I got drunk and cut myself. I do have a history of self harm because I did it in Grade 8 but that was almost 8 years ago.
878038 tn?1240273650 Just pain with touch to my lower abdomen. I have been on Yaz for almost two years and never have experienced my breasts being tender. I mean they really really hurt. Thank you for all your help! I got a number for a Women's center in my area that I can go to tomorrow for a test. I will keep you updated!
Avatar f tn ive been on birth control since i was 13 for PMDD and recently switched to yaz from seasonique. i had unprotected sex while i was switching meds. i took a pregnancy test three days ago and it was negative but i still havent started... what should i do?
