Why is it that taking oral antibiotics (leviquin, biaxin and now Z pack) seem to give me spells of palpitations--rapid/pounding heart beat? This is listed as a side effect, but I'd like to know if there's a chemical explanation. I am a 49 year-old female runner w/ normal resting hr of about 50-55. I have a history of PAC's and PVC's but nothing serious.
depends on which IUD....if it's the copper one, no effect. and even if it's the one that releases hormones the effect should be minimal because not only does the IUD use hormones to prevent pregnancy but the placement of the IUD itself can actually affect ovulation and the chances of pregnancy..
but the truth about risk of pregnancy due to taking antibiotics concurrently is iffy.
I have had mycoplasma pneumonia for almost 3 months now- complete with a rash that comes and goes, insane chest pain, body aches.. They finally diagnosed me two weeks ago and I took a Z pack and felt decent finally but only for a few days, Im getting worse once again and I'm SO over this. What ended up working for you??

I took her to the clinic to get tested and they ruled out BV even thought her family doctor assumed it was that. They insist that she has chlamydia and she gave it to me. They gave her a Z pack as well. Im just worried because i took my z pack on tuesday and im still having discharge. I drank a beer or 2 with my z pack later in the evening because i didn't know i could take alcohol with them. Now i'm wondering if the z pack didn't fully work on me.
She spent next to no time with me, said I had an upper respiratory infection that spread everywhere in my head, and prescribed z-pack. She told me my throat was a bit inflamed, my glands were swollen and my ears had some fluid in them. Nothing about tonsils, but I'm not sure if I can trust her!
Well, she forgot to tell her nurse about the z-pack, because her nurse told me whatever I had was going around, lingered for weeks and antibiotics don't touch it.
I went ot the Dr about 3 weeks ago due to a severe sore throat and low grade fever, he did a step test and it came back negative but due to the redness and the tenderness/swollen glands he gave me a Z-Pack of Antibiotics. Within 24 hrs the sore throat weakened and I was feeling much better. Then, the following day it came back and it has been back everyday since then for the last 3 weeks.
I began a round of the z-pack early this week for a bacterial infection (I have been sick for a month now; the dr. thinks it started as a cold and then I picked up a secondary infection), and just finished it up yesterday. I had started to feel better on the 3rd day of taking the antibiotics, but then yesterday on the day of the last dosage and even more so today (the 1st day off) I feel terrible again, with a lot of mucous, coughing, sinus issues. Can I go to the dr.
I have been on Yaz for almost two months now. I haven't missed any pills but I did have stomach flu within the first three days of starting my first pack. I didn't see the pill in my vomit and continued to take them in the mornings like I usually do. The time I take my pill is within fifteen minutes on weekdays and about 2-3 hours later on weekends. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex 4 times about halfway through my 2nd pack of Yaz. He did not finish inside of me.
two weeks before cycle and when starting a new pack. Anxiety has also increased with panicky feelings at end of pack and during pack change (3-5 Days). I really like the overall effects of Yaz and don't want to change but know I will need to do something in light of increased migraines and anxiety. I'm wondereing if I should go back to active and inactive pills or try some type of progesterine during the end of pack and start of new.
I am 34 weeks pregnant and am very concerned about all these antibiotics (about 4) i took during my pregnancy, 3 were zithromycin z pack and one was metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis in my third trimester. For all these antibiotics, i received strong reassurance that they are safe to take to treat my common occuring respiratory infections. I am concerned. Is there anyone here who took many antbx during pregnancy and had a healthy child? AMEN...
About 4 months ago, I switched from Alesse to Yaz. At the beginning of my most recent pack, I accidentally began using an old Alesse pack that I had forgot to throw out instead of Yaz. I discovered this 4 days in to the pack, and immediately switched back to Yaz as per my doctor's orders. My partner and I have been using the withdrawal method this month just to be sure, but I am worried that some ejaculate may have still come in contact with the outer parts of my genital area.
It was most likely a Z pack, not a c pack :)

Well, my test results have come back: negative for HIV, negative for syphilis. All I'm waiting for are ureaplasma and mycoplasma. But I'm 2 days out from finishing the z pack and am still having symptoms (discharge yestrday afternoon while at the beach and a continued feeling like there's something in my urethra). I think I need to wait some time to see if this resolves. If not, I'm going to insist on a urethral swab/culture.
