Yaz and skipped periods

Common Questions and Answers about Yaz and skipped periods

yaz

Avatar f tn Hi! I am on YAZ birth control, but haven't had sex for 7 weeks since me and my ex broke up. So I missed three days in a row of my pill on the third week, and I read you are supposed to restart a whole new pack if you miss that many on that week. But between that time I got my period, so I started taking a new pack like the instructions said. The weird thing is, is that I'm still on my period and today is day 9. My periods are usually short, probably 4 days.
Avatar n tn I skipped many periods on YAZ. Talk with your doctor who perscribed it, but it does happen and if you are taking it correctly you are probably not pregnant and it is just a hormonal change.
Avatar f tn Since I had been taking the Yaz for almost two months straight (I skipped my period by not taking the placebo pills) do you think this changes the possibility of me being unprotected?
Avatar f tn October 15 - Started YAZ, also my first day of period (4 days light period only) November 10 - Period came November 11 - Last day of YAZ (first pack) November 12 - First pill of second pack of YAZ very heavy bleeding November 13 VERY HEAVY BLEEDING November 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 Regular bleeding Nov19- 27 light bleeding Nov 28 bleeding gone I went to my OB November 24 and advised me to take my remaining YAZ 3x a day.
Avatar f tn The new pills made my period crazy, but yaz made it come the same time every month. However, yaz made my periods last longer, and I would bleed on and off for a week towards the end of using yaz.
Avatar f tn I did it last week and I'm on Yaz as well and I just spotted a little a couple days nothing major. But other than that it worked great!
Avatar f tn I've been on yaz for about 5 months now and its fine anyway I skipped my placebo pills last week and started out with a new pack but I noticed very slight pinkish discharge only when i swipe yesterday. Is this normal or could it be implantation bleeding? Has anyone experienced this?
Avatar f tn I have been on a small dose of Yaz since October. It was given to me to regulate my very irregular (and often absent) periods. At the end of May (on the 18th), I had surgery on my stomach and stopped taking the Yaz. I had been forgetting to take them all month, and had a very light period right before the surgery. Anyway, come June, I got my period in the middle of the month, like on the 14th, which was weird considering my periods usually come at the end of the month.
Avatar n tn I am on my second week of Yaz-put on it for really bad PMS and extremely heavy periods. (When my period came back after having my daughter and nursing her for a year, my PMS symptoms got progressively worse each month.) Now, on YAZ, I am having mood swings from extreme calm to extreme anxiety (close to full blown panic attack) and back again. I am easily irritated and have had heart palpatations since the second day on this medicine.
Avatar f tn Have you been to a gynecologist or physician about this? There is something going on, and you need to figure out what it is. It's not healthy to have such long periods and is often a symptom of hormonal issues or other problems.
Avatar f tn s nurse suggested I try Yaz. She said it was about the same thing and I get shorter periods. At first I felt good, but around the second pack I started getting horrible headaches, my periods would stretch out to a week instead of a few days, I would breakout, and I had terrible mood swings. Interestingly enough, my best friend started getting the same symptoms as me after taking Yaz and she hadn't even been on birth control before, so I had the feeling we probably weren't alone.
Avatar m tn I know while I am there to get my results he is going to try to get me to take YAZ, which he suggested when I got my PAP exam (I researched YAZ and found some horror stories!!) or some sort of IUD...I don't know how to feel about that either. Should I listen to my instincts and avoid birth control? It seems to me it's just a band-aid and not a real solution to a problem. If I do have PCOS, are there other alternatives besides taking birth control? Please give me some guidance. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Last month I got my period but it was pretty light and ended soon, which I thought was normal for yaz. I had sex the night or day after I finished. Now I just finished my whole yaz pack, all the white pills, and no period! Last night i took the last pill, and since I had no period, i took a pregnancy test. It came out negative. But then this morning i had brown discharge. I'm scared it came out negative because it is too early to take it?!
Avatar n tn Ok so I'm 13 , I'm a virgin , I had my last period in July 19 - 23, since then I haven't gotten my period , I did search it up and I think it's because I've been doing a lot of exercise and Ive been eating too much chips lol , but I just wanted yalls opinion on what that..
Avatar m tn She really needs to get into the doctor. Periods should not be that painful...I mean don't get me wrong, we all have those days where we feel like our ovaries are being twisted and pulled in every which way...but not all the time. Her periods probably returned because of the dieting and losing weight. If you guys aren't trying for a baby, I do suggest to get on birth control. I'm on Yasmin and love it. Never any problems with it and it made my periods less painful and less heavy.
Avatar f tn So im 21y/o no health problems what so ever. I have been on yaz for a yr and i love it. i havnt had any problems with it at all and lucky to have no side effects. I have a vacation coming up soon and unfortunately i am scheduled to start my period at that time. I was wondering if anyone has ever skipped the 4 placebo pills and just gone straight into the next pack, non stop so they wont have their period. Does it work? I really need to know.
Avatar n tn i took YAZ for a while and my periods were longer and heavier at first too... they normal out though after a couple periods!
Avatar f tn How can you gain weight if you have lost your appetite? I know that everytime I have lost my appetite I have lost a tremendous amount of weight. In the book that comes with Yaz it says that spotting may occur. Some of these pills work for some and some don't work for others. I have used Yaz and like it the best and my friend used it and it made her sick. It's too bad they didn't have a way to plug in your information and out pops an answer of what pill you should use.
Avatar n tn They did a ton of blood work and found nothing wrong so the best advise I can give to you is just take her to a GYN and have them run test. My doctor put me on YAZ and it has made me regular and I love it! I hope this helps!
869854 tn?1239978206 I feel hopeless so she mentioned that studies have shown the pill and also anxiety and depression meds can help the hormonal changes and regulate my moods and newly changing menstural cycle. I was so looking forward to turning 40 up until 5 months ago when my mood just shifted.
Avatar n tn My last period was Dec 1. I had started YAZ BC but discountinued after a week because it made me very sick. I have not had my period since. HPT come out negative. Could I be pregnant?
Avatar f tn I have been on Yaz bc pills for 4 months now and everything in the beginning was great. They helped regulate my periods, made them so much easier, shorter and lighter. That is until this month! I started my period April 11th, well it was pinkish. By monday morning it came down. Which was fine, regular period. Only one problem...IM STILL BLEEDING!! It has been 12 days! The first few days it was normal, and I only last 3/4 days. But then I kept bleeding.
118884 tn?1270474779 I haven't had a period for awhile so the Obgyn put me on Yaz and I took that about 5 days because I was having really bad chest pains so I stopped taking it , I did start a period that lasted 8 days that was back in Dec 07 ! I went and seen my regular Dr that put me on Medroxypr Ac 10 mg to help start well I have taken all that and still no periods I did how ever have some cramps but no period!
Avatar f tn I tried to post this earlier but didn't seem to work. Apologize if it's a double post... I am now 36 and was on Yaz for 1.5 years. I went off of it about 5 weeks ago because of 10 days of headaches culminating in a migraine. I went off Yaz immediately after the migraine (and my doctor agreed that was a good decision). Therefore, I went off Yaz mid-pack. In general, I do not react well to BCP. I had been on several when I was in my early 20s.
Avatar n tn I am 28years old and have had two pregnancies. I am on yaz birth control, and I have missed 2 periods. I took 5 home pregnancy tests which all have resulted in negatives. I have never missed a period other than when I was pregnant. I did not miss any pills of birth control and have been on no other medication. I am slighlty stressed and thought that was a reasonable explanation as to why I missed my first period. but now that I have missed two I am wondering....
Avatar n tn You could also talk to you doctor about switching to Yaz.. When I took Yaz I never had a period.. my doctor said this was fine.. that in ppl yaz will either shorten your period to a day/two.. or take it away completely. .. .. your doctor would know best!
