Common Questions and Answers about Yaz and mood

yaz

Avatar n tn I was prescribed Lexapro for mood and maxalt for headache by PCP ( have been on numerous triptans for the last ten years for good control) When my perimenopausal symptoms began to increase hot flashes, sleep difficulties and mood, I was placed on Yaz. It has overall been great. Controlled by anxiety except for right before menses.
Avatar f tn I AM NOW SEEING ALOT OF LAWSUITS BEING ADVERTISED FOR YAZ....SIDEEFFECTS BEING BLOOD CLOTS, PULMONARY ISSUES AND SO ON ....HAS ANYONE HAD ISSUES WITH YAZ AND WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT....WHAT CAN I ALSO DO FOR THE MOODS...ANY SUGGESTIONS...
178590 tn?1294176767 However, I notice after talking yaz that I felt more depressed and had more anxiety then before. I had extreme mood swings and crying spells while taking yaz. I stopped yaz for a month then started it again. I also had the same symptom after starting yaz again. My doctor change my birth control bill back to Ortho Tri- Cycle Lo this month.
405998 tn?1222396217 life, Orth-low was good at relieaving my pain but it made me bloat badly and i had mood swings. Yaz was so expensive and it did not help with my pain and made my sexual urges decresse to practicly nothing although my skin cleared up and i did not bloat or have mood swings. Always remember that we have different chemical balances, what it was like for me may not be the same for you.
869854 tn?1239978206 I feel hopeless so she mentioned that studies have shown the pill and also anxiety and depression meds can help the hormonal changes and regulate my moods and newly changing menstural cycle. I was so looking forward to turning 40 up until 5 months ago when my mood just shifted.
Avatar f tn Have you seen the write up on the YAZ pill and issues people have experienced as Bayer "maker" of YAZ has not kept to their promises in terms of how good this pill is compared to other contraceptives. In a forum on this website there were quite of bit of ladies who told thier stories relating to this pill, headaches, bad acne, heavy mood swings, lot of others. Is Yaz treating u well?
Avatar m tn Ever since my last try with the pill a year and a half ago(it was called Sronyx and I was on it for 3 months), which made me gain ten pounds and gave the the worst mood swings and nausea of any pill (it was supposed to be the lowest dose of hormones), my periods have been even more irregular, sometimes with only two weeks between them, sometimes almost two months.
519035 tn?1348275773 I just started a whole week early without ever having a clue I was close. I usually have a migraine and mood swing and am 26 to 28 days, now I went 20. Good luck with the yaz but it would be a good idea to discuss switching meds with your doc. I am not on any pill at this time. I think one hormone, now on Cytomel too, was enough for me at the time.
697574 tn?1273955747 Recently I have been getting very depressed the week of my period to the point where I will just cry. I take YAZ so as soon as those 4 days of taking the blank pill I feel like my mood just crashes. I started to take a antidepressant 2 months ago and that was the first time I experienced such a low mood, I usually get more emotional but I felt like it was doubled. Is it normal to get so sad and randomly cry during that time? What can I do?
Avatar n tn At the point of seeing a stranger in my reflection with no one left to tell i just stopped caring about even taking yaz and soon after i fell like i was slowly waking up. Please iam 22 years old i let yaz control 2 years of my precious youth dealing with over barring spilling emotions from hell STOP taking the legal pink pills that rapes you of your soul!!!! i would rather have 5 kids in 5 years then have to resort to that ****** up point of devastation ever ever again!!!
Avatar f tn My daughter has only been taking YAZ for two and half weeks and has begun calling me every night from college in tears. She doesn't know what's wrong. Just feels like crying all the time. Also had an episode where she became so dehydrated that she fainted last week. I don't know if either of these things can be attributed to the YAZ, but I plan to call the OB/GYN tomorrow to check. Will post what I find out.
Avatar f tn I started on yaz three months ago, at first I didnt notice any changes, but lately I have not been able to control my emotions. I cry for every and any reason, I get mad and upset over things that dont even make sense to me, and i have been making my fiance miserable. I was starting to think I was just crazy and just incompatible, and I couldnt recodnize myself. I started freaking out because I didnt understand why I was always angry and upset, and I felt like a completely different person.
Avatar f tn Hey guys! It's Danielle and I stopped taking Yaz about two months ago, and I feel fantastic. The weight is going away slowly but surely, and my periods, although slightly irregular, have been better. I'm a bit more moody than before, Yaz always made me feel PMS when I shouldn't have though. Getting off the Yaz was the best thing I could have done!
Avatar f tn Is it normal for contraception pills. Yaz to cause mood swings. I'm so frieken grumpy. I feel like I'm going mental!
Avatar n tn Some people can't take certain pills because it causes mood issues. I'd call your doctor and tell her you are stopping the pill and would like to discuss another possibility. Does she know you were on Yaz before?
Avatar f tn Hi, my girlfriend and I are both 19 years old and we have been dating for about 2 years. We decided it'd be smart if she got on birth control just because it's not worth messing everything up with a pregnancy at our age. She was taking ortho tri cyclen and everything seemed fine, but her doctor switched her over to Yaz and ever since then it's been horrible. She's always got very bad mood swings, and her sex drive is ZERO and it hurts when we do it.
Avatar f tn Usually if someone is on birthcontrol pills, you will require more thyroid medication. Estrogen interferes with the binding of the thyroid medication. Just try to take the lowest dosage possible of birth control. If your thyroid is regulated properly, your pms should get much better if that is an issue. I haven't heard many good things about Yaz or Yasmine....my doctor wanted me on Yasmine until I said no way. I am now on low dose microgestin.....
Avatar f tn I've been using Yaz for about 3 months now and I haven't had any major side effects. I bled for the first two weeks and after that, I've been regular. After reading some of the posts here though, I'm scared. Many people are saying they are getting bad side effects like mood swings and depression. I'm very nervous that I'll start getting them now. Any advice?... Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn I am on my second week of Yaz-put on it for really bad PMS and extremely heavy periods. (When my period came back after having my daughter and nursing her for a year, my PMS symptoms got progressively worse each month.) Now, on YAZ, I am having mood swings from extreme calm to extreme anxiety (close to full blown panic attack) and back again. I am easily irritated and have had heart palpatations since the second day on this medicine.
Avatar f tn How can you gain weight if you have lost your appetite? I know that everytime I have lost my appetite I have lost a tremendous amount of weight. In the book that comes with Yaz it says that spotting may occur. Some of these pills work for some and some don't work for others. I have used Yaz and like it the best and my friend used it and it made her sick. It's too bad they didn't have a way to plug in your information and out pops an answer of what pill you should use.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms sound very much like what I went through on Yaz. Both Yasmin and Yaz have a different kind of progestin than other bcps. I was on Yaz for six months, and started having anxiety attacks about once a month. Then after I quit I felt better for a while, but it seems like at 3 months off and six months off things would get worse for a period of time. Like Ginger said above, you may need to try to take extra care of yourself: taking vitamins, eating healthy, exercise and rest.
Avatar f tn Hi, YAZ birth control pill causes cholelithiasis. According to studies done, YAZ birth control pill increases the risk of gallbladder disease only marginally. But if you are symptomatic, like if you have pain in the upper right quadrant or if you develop nausea or jaundice, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Regards.
Avatar m tn Just to add to the conversation that I had been on yaz for seven months. I had never had such terrible cystic acne in my life! It was obviously hormonal acne being that it was cystic and not the simple whitehead or blackhead that is caused by excess cebum and etc. I had been prescribed Retin A, and an antibiotic face wash as well, but none of it helped! So I came to the conclusion that my problem had to be the Yaz. I called my OB and changed by bc to Ortho Tri Lo.
Avatar f tn Hi cassiee014, First and foremost got off Yaz. The birth control Yaz is dangerous. There are actually some women who have lawsuits against the manufacturers of Yaz. Getting off Yaz may solve your depression. Actually I just read you have a mild history of depression. You also said you haven't taken any medication for your depression. Okay. I would make an appointment with your family doctor . Is your doctor aware of your mild history of depression?
Avatar n tn If you think it is severe enough, she might have PMDD, pre-menstural disphoric disorder. I really think she should try Yaz. It will help with the mood swings, and if she does have PMDD, it will help with that as well.
