Xalatan glaucoma

Common Questions and Answers about Xalatan glaucoma

xalatan

Avatar n tn I would like to know if I am suffering from chronic closed angle glaucoma ( I understand that open angle glaucoma is the more common form) and if so is the ache in the eyelids due to that? Or is it more possible that this is a symptom of dry eyes? In addition, I have been using Xalatan for a week now. It seems to make my eyes itchy. The itchiness seems to be transient meaning it isn't persistent but fluctuates.
Avatar n tn In searching for a cheaper way to control glaucoma I found tablets offered. Do tablets work as well as drops??
Avatar n tn s were slightly elevated (and an Aunt had glaucoma) but returned toward normal on Xalatan drops? Might she expect the cataract surgery itself to alter her pressures toward normal or should she have a combined laser filtering procedure? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with glaucoma four years ago and was immediately put on Xalatan once a day both eyes. Two years later was taken off Xalatan and put on Cosopt & Alphagan, twice a day, Lumigan once a day, both eyes. For the past two years my diopter went from -4.00 both eyes, to -9.50 left eye, -7.00 right eye, as of today, in steady progression. I can already tell I'm probably not seeing 20/40 presently and need stronger contacts.
Avatar m tn High blood pressure does not cause glaucoma. It is unusual that xalatan alone would lower your IOP that much. Only your Eye Md that can look at your visual fields, corneal thickness, OCT, visual fields, gonioscopy, and optic nerve structure can tell you if your IOP is satisfactor or needs to be lowered by going to a stronger drop like Lumigan or Travatan Z or selective laser trabeculoplasty.
Avatar m tn Your glaucoma could worsen if you stop taking the medications for a year.
Avatar n tn The retinal specialist seemed to be a loss. He is now recommending a glaucoma specialist. We are not sure what to do.
17644146 tn?1458782868 Does anyone take Xalatan? I picked up my new bottle of Xalatan today and I noticed the pharmacist didn't take it from the refrigerator, but took it off the shelf where she keeps all her prescriptions. I asked her if she shouldn't have had it in the refrigerator since yesterday when I called in the refill. She said one day out of the refrigerator would not harm the unopened Xalatan. When I got home I put it in my fridge.
Avatar m tn On a different topic , can the long term use of glaucoma eye drops such as Xalatan , azarga cause any serious or vision threathening problems or is that not really possible, thanks
Avatar f tn Have used Xalatan for several years with no rash. Added Trusopt 1 year ago and about 3 months ago I started with a rash on eyelids. Dermatologist treated for contact dermatitis Fluticasone Propionate cream with little result. Opthamologist treated for blepharitis with an antibiotic cream and eyelid wash, again no relief. I tried using Xalatan in AM rather than at nite, no change. Tried just Trusopt AM and early PM, no change.
274009 tn?1224434467 ve had 4 eye surgeries for detatched retina (left eye) plus at the time of my last eye surgery I had a catarac removed. I now have Glaucoma as a result of all this. After my last eye surgery I was told that I'll never have full use of my eye plus I still have a partial detatchment that's been stable now for 10 months. I still have oil in my eye. I'm using 3 types of eyedrops daily for eye pressure Azopt 2x day Combigan 2x day Xalatan 1x at night (makes my eyelashes longer?
Avatar n tn I have been using Xalatan for the last 6 months for my eye pressure which was 23 and now is around 17. Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. I visited my Optho and had eye dilated and checked and everything looks fine. He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up visit with the retinal specialist concerning the retinal swelling and double vision in my right eye. As reported earlier, I have bilateral open-angle glaucoma and cataracts, the cataract in the right eye having been removed in 2005 at which time the lens fell into the back of the eye, followed by vitrectomy in 2006 and an intraocular implant in 2007. I now have retinal swelling which is being treated with Prednisolone and Nevanac, 3X daily, right eye.
Avatar m tn mjk i have had a laser iridoplasty(have plateau iris) however still have episodes of mild blurriness eye discofort and slight headaches occasionaly and still on xalatan. optholomogist have said the Laser surgery has worked and angles are no longer as narrow and pressure has dropped to 10..Does this sort of laser stop an Acute angle atack?.
Avatar n tn If Glaucoma is caught very early, and the pressure (before treatment) is 18-19, is hoping for it to progress so slowly as to not lose visual function an unreasonable expectation? The specifics are: 42 year old male, IOP (both eyes) 18-19 (treatment with Xalatan just begun). No field loss in left eye, very minor field loss in right eye.
Avatar m tn l was worried when he said l have gone from a 2 to 4 he might have meant from stage 2 to stage 4 glaucoma which is serve glaucoma , but l dont think he meant that as l still have good vision 20/20 and l think l passed my recent peripheral flashing light test and l have'nt noticed any change to my vision over the past ten years apart from more eye floaters
Avatar m tn Is anyone putting their glaucoma eye drops in the fridge? If so, what is temperature where you store them in the fridge? My opthamologist said it is okay to store the drops in the fridge so that they become cool and therefore you know when the drops enter your eyes. Anyone?
Avatar m tn Also the decision to do laser first or gel stent depends on how much damage there is to your eye. If you have severe glaucoma and lost of damage to your optic nerve, bad looking visual fields and bad nerve fiber layer OCT than going to the stent would be appropriate.
Avatar m tn perhaps you have ocular hypertension and not glaucoma, and the drop is being used to decrease the risk of glaucoma developing. Other tests which should be done, if they were not performed yet, are gonioscopy to check the angle of the eye, and pachymetry to check the corneal thickness.
Avatar m tn ICL can cause glaucoma but generally it is high pressure glaucoma due to inflammation or the drainage angle of the eye. Glaucoma is unlikely and you might want to see a glaucoma specialist.
Avatar n tn I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Avatar n tn Your increase of pressure is consistent with steroid glaucoma and that should be noted to all future physcians taking care of you. The medicines you took by mouth should not have caused this.
Avatar f tn For patients with narrow angle glaucoma, I try not to dilate the eyes unless I know I have a very good laser iridotomy already in place in the eye and even then, I try to dilate as few times as possible. Consider seeing an EyeMD that is a glaucoma specialist. Remember, dilation can send some patients into a very bad attack of glaucoma if they have narrow angles.
Avatar f tn He is 40 yrs old and obviously very concerned. he has been on travatan timolol, xalatan to name just a few but they have now put him back on xalacom. Have you any suggestions as to what to do next- l have heard from a friend that there are oral tablets available.
Avatar m tn Lumigan is a glaucoma medication that is put directly on the eye. Latisse is the same medication, different packaging for eyelash growth and it is painted on the eyelashes with a brush. I suppose the study that was completed 12/31/09 for growing eyelashes was only done on upper lid eyelashes. Then that's all that the FDA will allow them to say.
