Xalatan for glaucoma

Common Questions and Answers about Xalatan for glaucoma

xalatan

Avatar n tn In searching for a cheaper way to control glaucoma I found tablets offered. Do tablets work as well as drops??
Avatar n tn I personally often stop the xalatan for a few months after surgery and use another glaucoma drop instead but many doctors don't do that. Basically, if your surgeon is experienced and excellent, the chances of success are very, very high.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with glaucoma four years ago and was immediately put on Xalatan once a day both eyes. Two years later was taken off Xalatan and put on Cosopt & Alphagan, twice a day, Lumigan once a day, both eyes. For the past two years my diopter went from -4.00 both eyes, to -9.50 left eye, -7.00 right eye, as of today, in steady progression. I can already tell I'm probably not seeing 20/40 presently and need stronger contacts.
Avatar m tn l have been taking Xalatan for a year and there has'nt been any side effects except my eyes feeling a bit dry l have developed some floaters but my doctor says it most likley has nothing to do with the xalatan , but the past few weeks it has been starting to sting or feel a bit , sometimes l put in two drops at a time instead of one , could putting too much in cause this soreness, is there an eye drop such as a lubricant eye drop l could take that relieves the soreness.

17644146 tn?1458782868 Thank you. I am referring to an UN-opened Xalatan. Instructions say to refrigerate unopened Xalatan at 36 - 46 degrees. That is why I questioned the pharmacist keeping the Unopened Xalatan out of the fridge for one day. I've always kept unopened Xalatan in fridge. I am in my seventies and just don't want to do the right thing.
Avatar m tn On a different topic , can the long term use of glaucoma eye drops such as Xalatan , azarga cause any serious or vision threathening problems or is that not really possible, thanks
Avatar f tn Have used Xalatan for several years with no rash. Added Trusopt 1 year ago and about 3 months ago I started with a rash on eyelids. Dermatologist treated for contact dermatitis Fluticasone Propionate cream with little result. Opthamologist treated for blepharitis with an antibiotic cream and eyelid wash, again no relief. I tried using Xalatan in AM rather than at nite, no change. Tried just Trusopt AM and early PM, no change.
Avatar m tn one of the instructions for using Lumigan or Latisse states not to use on the lower eyelid but it doesn't explain why?
Avatar n tn I have been using Xalatan for the last 6 months for my eye pressure which was 23 and now is around 17. Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. I visited my Optho and had eye dilated and checked and everything looks fine. He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up visit with the retinal specialist concerning the retinal swelling and double vision in my right eye. As reported earlier, I have bilateral open-angle glaucoma and cataracts, the cataract in the right eye having been removed in 2005 at which time the lens fell into the back of the eye, followed by vitrectomy in 2006 and an intraocular implant in 2007. I now have retinal swelling which is being treated with Prednisolone and Nevanac, 3X daily, right eye.
Avatar m tn mjk i have had a laser iridoplasty(have plateau iris) however still have episodes of mild blurriness eye discofort and slight headaches occasionaly and still on xalatan. optholomogist have said the Laser surgery has worked and angles are no longer as narrow and pressure has dropped to 10..Does this sort of laser stop an Acute angle atack?.
Avatar m tn Hi l am 47 and been diagnosed glaucoma for ten years,l dont think l have lost any vision as my peripheral and central vision tests are still good l have been taking eye drops for ten years but my eye specialist said they are no longer effective as the nerve damage in my eyes has been getting worse over past ten years.. Avatar m tn Is anyone putting their glaucoma eye drops in the fridge? If so, what is temperature where you store them in the fridge? My opthamologist said it is okay to store the drops in the fridge so that they become cool and therefore you know when the drops enter your eyes. Anyone?
Avatar m tn I'm on generic cosopt and recently started xelpros.
Avatar m tn perhaps you have ocular hypertension and not glaucoma, and the drop is being used to decrease the risk of glaucoma developing. Other tests which should be done, if they were not performed yet, are gonioscopy to check the angle of the eye, and pachymetry to check the corneal thickness.
Avatar m tn As a result, I was prescribed Xalatan by an Opthamologist. I took the drops for about a year, I stopped taking them after I lost my health insurance, and couldn't afford the prescription. It's now years later, I'm doing well, vision hasn't changed (in my opinion). I've scheduled an appointment with an Opthamologist for next week. I'm nervous, is there a high likeliness that damaged has occurred?
Avatar m tn If you have glaucoma your Visual Field should show a field defect in the area you are aware of it, plus the Nerve fiber layer OCT should show significant thinning in the area of the optic nerve that corresponds to where you see the defect. ICL can cause glaucoma but generally it is high pressure glaucoma due to inflammation or the drainage angle of the eye. Glaucoma is unlikely and you might want to see a glaucoma specialist.
Avatar n tn I had a Pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft about 6 weeks ago, initially I was using Maxitrol drops 6-8 times a day for about 2 1/2 weeks, I was then switched to Maxidex drops 5 times a day. About 1 1/2 later I noticed a change to the lower part of the lower half of my field of vision, which appeared blurred and sensitive to light and is worse is bright light.
Avatar f tn For patients with narrow angle glaucoma, I try not to dilate the eyes unless I know I have a very good laser iridotomy already in place in the eye and even then, I try to dilate as few times as possible. Consider seeing an EyeMD that is a glaucoma specialist. Remember, dilation can send some patients into a very bad attack of glaucoma if they have narrow angles.
Avatar m tn Hello All, I was diagnosed for Low Tension Glaucoma 5 years ago.In addition I also have Cataract in right eye.Initially I used Xalatan for 1 year and then my doctor did a small laser procedure to open up the cornea in my eyes to let the fluid out which has kept the eye pressure under 16 or so. Currently I am using Patanol and its only for occasional use. As per my doctor ,My glaucoma has not spread at all and it is in same condition when diagnosed.
