Common Questions and Answers about White skin vitamin

Avatar m tn Hyperpigmentation occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin. Treatment options include treatment with vitamin C and hydrocortisone, peel with carbon dioxide snow and alexandrite and ND-Yag Q-Switched laser treatment preceded by a hydroquinone-based application. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn As you explain about these white spots are flat on skin and spreading slowly it seems that this is skin condition vitiligo. white spots on skin which feel burning while exposed to the sun is a common symptom of skin condition vitiligo (source of info: http://www.antivitiligo.com/vitiligo/ ). I recommend you not use tanning beds to treat these spots. Because the intensity of uv radiation in these beds is 3 to 8 time than the sunlight. There is a great risk for skin cancer by harmful rays of UV.
Avatar f tn I think if you are increasing just the vitamin A during pregnancy you might have toxic effects but we need vitamin A for our skin.. and eyes.. and it is usually in prenatals at the recommended dose.
Avatar f tn the truth is this vitamin is essential to health, so much so that the skin will make it for you, enough to stay healthy with only 10 minutes of sunlight exposure per day. the truth also is that without enough you get sad, infections, more diebetes, and a whole host of other bad things with a deficiency. However too much can also cause issue....some docs now think 50 rather than 40 is a good number...

Avatar m tn My lips were also extremely chapped [chapped stick did not work at all]. I also noticed dry skin on my penis... so I drank a ton of water for a few weeks and it seemed to go away on it's own after a trip to a more humid climate (had record low humidity (7%) here) ...I assumed it was dry weather because the burning seemed to go away as well.

500238 tn?1255134814 Not sure how it affects vitamin D but I do know that I could not eat during the mono and lost 10 pounds in two weeks and then continued to have eating difficulty due to the GERD so maybe that is why the Vitamin D became deficient, who knows. I suspect that my low levels of Vitamin D may have caused the GERD and possibly allowed the mono to creep in since it will inhibit your immune reaction as well.

Avatar f tn (Please don't yell at me about skin cancer...I am white as a ghost and can count on one hand the number of times in my 34 years that I've ever had a tan...a few sessions won't kill me!) Does anyone have advice? Does a smaller dose of D3 help as much as the megadose? I read somewhere that taking magnesium with the D would help. Should I also take extra calcium or will that make matters worse since my calcium level is normal? I don't know what the benefits of D2 once a week are vs.

Avatar m tn Each person responds differently to UVB exposure and oral intake of vitamin D depending on such factors as skin pigmentation, body mass index (vitamin D is fat soluble), age, condition of digestive tract, other dietary factors, etc. Dietary vitamin D is insufficient alone to significantly reduce the risk of most cancers since the ingested amounts, up to 200 to 400 I.U. per day, are too low [Grant and Garland, in press]. Evidently, 600 to 1000 I.

1216899 tn?1288573925 With all the sites out there that have info on Vitamin D, their just doesn't seem to be one that has all the symptoms that can accompany vitamin d deficiency. I'm going to list my symptoms, so that others may have some insight, in layman's terms. I hope anyone else with the deficiency would also post theirs.

Avatar n tn i was told by my doctor that my vitamin D levels were seriously low only 5, compared to 50-75 being normal levels. and i was told that my thyroid was slightly overactive. i have been having very very dry skin lately that is not responsive to steroid creams, or anti fungal creams , esp on my penis and feet. could that be a result of having a very low vitamin D level?
