Common Questions and Answers about What causes gas pain and bloating

Avatar n tn I have similar problems, gas, bloating and pain under my sternum not in my chest though, but very tender all the way from my belly button upwards. I have had all the tests, endoscopy, barium meal, ultrasound and now going to have a colonoscopy but I am also reading alot of books and have come to the conclusion I probably have irritable bowel syndrome even though I don't really have a diorrhea or constipation problem that bothers me.
Avatar f tn My body functions are normal for most part. (Btw, I am 41, and weigh 110 lbs). I want to know what could be behind this bloating?
Avatar f tn IBS is a NON life-threatening disorder of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by abdominal pain, diarrhea, gas, bloating and changes in bowel habits. If you have IBS, you may have one or more of these symptoms as they vary among individuals. It's important to note that women make up nearly 75% of IBS sufferers.
Avatar n tn I have gallstones and it feels like trapped gas in my stomach (bloating?) with pressure in my back, mainly on right side. If I massage my stomach I usually burp and my back feels better. Did you have your gallbladder out? Problems?
Avatar f tn Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is a medication used to control pain (known as an analgesic) and fever (known as antipyretic). In small doses (less than 4 grams per day, or eight pills taken over a twenty-four hour period of time) acetaminophen is quite safe for the liver—unless combined with alcoholic beverages. (Note: each acetaminophen tablet or pill typically contains 500 milligrams of acetaminophen.
Avatar n tn This problem has increased in the past three years. The gas is so smelly and at times the gas causes pain in my lower left side of my back. I eat very healthy I was told my the doctor to increase fiber in my diet to help with my bowl movement and stay away from foods that is prone to cause gas. But if I eat chips I get gas. Do you have any suggestions. I always follow my doctors orders.
Avatar n tn Only, I have just recently gone to the doctor and they prescribed Prilosec OTC which is for heartburn. My pain is in my intestine which causes severe bloating. I, like yourself, want my healthy life back. It started out where no matter what it was that I ate, it would cause for a burning sensation. But then it turned to bloating. I went to the Dr.'s office and after many many questions, they came up with nothing.
Avatar n tn I recently changed my cereal from cream of wheat to shredded wheat, and for three days strait had severe stomache pain/bloating and diahrea each afternoon. It finally dawned on me it was the cereal. Went back to cream of wheat and I've been feeling much better.
Avatar m tn Sometimes with GERD I get just the pain in the chest and abdomen area, but not necessarily do I always get the heartburn. I also have IBS and what you're describing can and does happen with IBS, too. A GI will discuss your symptoms with you and decide which prescriptions you may or may not need to take. A lot of times the GI will only tell you to use more fiber for your IBS or use a stool softener and /or laxative if you have constipation.
Avatar n tn The Symptoms persist about an hour after eating, and some nights I lay in bed when the gas is bad, and I feel those Double beats and skips in my heart as well.. No pain is involved, but it is very unnerving, and causes more stress. The only time I feel really well, is when my stomach is empty. But it doesn't last, because any exertion on an empty stomach, starts producing the gas and symptoms as well.
Avatar n tn Also if you have IBS or acidity, it can cause bloating and gas. Walking around will help clear some gas. Check and see if you are eating something that is causing gas. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Otherwise, if the tests remain negative, irritable bowel syndrome can also lead to bloating and increased gas. If that's the case, treating with antispasmodic agents can be considered. Avatar n tn even though it has been determined that foods do not cause crohn's disease ...there are many foods that aggravate and/or cause gas and/or bloating....every individual however is different ....some person's may or may not tolerate certain foods....so it is recommended that you keep a Food Journal.....for what you can or cannot tolerate yourself. I am lactose intolerant but not totally......a small bowl of icecream could be okay occasionally but not too often or in big amounts.....
Avatar n tn The next day, I felt great the entire day -- no pain, so soreness, no bloating...nothing. What could possibly have caused this? I've never experienced anything like this before.
Avatar f tn I'm 31 weeks and I've delt with similar issues like this. I have gastroparesis, basically my stomach is paralyzed. I live constantly nauseated, vomitting, and in pain even when I'm not pregnant. There is no cure for gastroparesis. I've had feeding tubes and a gastric pacemaker, I have home health and a chemport so I can give my own iv fluids and ive medications at home.
Avatar n tn Well, not sure about the bloating that comes on right as you are getting ready to eat a meal, but sometimes abdominal pain, bloating and fullness (and constipation and chronic reflux problems due to a full stomach) can be caused by gastroparesis. There seem to be a lot of people on the board just recently who have abdominal pain and bloating, and I'm sure most of them don't have GP, but it's always a possibility, and so I mention it. You might want to ask your doctor about it.
2131426 tn?1361423243 I am 54 years old and in my menopausal period . My mother has this pain for so long that I can imagine how it feels and was crying to have her being brought to the hospital and they cannot see what's wrong . Avatar f tn ,I try to take the antibiotics for 14 days for the h pylori but i couldn't take it for 3 days because I got sick from my stomach. I try manuka honey and it really help with the bloating and gas but at the end i have to suspend it because the burning pain got much worse and I started to feel the burning pain not only in the back and abdomen also in my entire genitals were burning and i got trouble urinating too.
Avatar n tn You also might want to read about gastroparesis and also mention it to your doctor to see what he/she thinks. It causes bloating after eating (as well as pain and nausea/vomitting), and can cause constipation in some people. It is usually dxd with a gastric emptying scan done in nuclear medicine, but if it is severe it can be picked up on EGD/encoscopy (food residue will still be in the stomach even after many, many hours of not eating).
Avatar n tn My mom has type II liver cancer, papillaris bile cell duct tumor (cholangiocarcinoma) she had been doing great, but know she feels full all the time, water makes her nauseas, and at this moment has debilating upper right side pain. She says it feels like gas. What can I do to ease her pain? I gave her hot anise tea, I have been placing warm towels on her. It's terrible to see that way. Please send suggestions.
Avatar n tn Each of these disorders can lead to increased gas perception and bloating. Another consideration would be imaging the abdomen. Sometimes, there are rare cases of ovarian cancer that can lead to unexplained bloating. A CT scan or ultrasound would be helpful to exclude this possibility. Avatar m tn I've had them or years and years, and they wax and wane depending on what I do (bending, twisting, sitting at desk, eating or reaching upwards with both arms and more) I've got a hiatus hernia, and chronic stomach / upper abdomen discomfort and what feels like muscle spasms which drive me nuts and go on for hours especially when I'm in bed. I take atenalol for SVT's, and valium which seems to calm my stomach problems down a bit. Also get 'puffy' and short of breath.
797165 tn?1268826340 My bloating is much better since my laparotomy in June but I can't say it is completely gone. I still have gas and bloating issues and have been referred to a gastroenterologist.

Avatar n tn So is it possible for it to be ulcers but yet painless and causes bloating, burping, flatulence and constipation? And I would also love to have advices on my diet, or any thing I can do meanwhile before I see the doctor(which might take another week due to my exam). Sorry for the length and thanks beforehand.
