I went to my computer and looked up bloating, Metformin, afib. All signs pointed to GERD can cause afib. And Metformin can cause gas, bloating, digestive upset. I am not aware of any direct relationship, but I suppose one could stimulate the other, say AFib causes you to swallow air, and get bloated ... and/or gas causes emotional stress and that triggers the AFib.
In any case, I too believe if you get a successful ablation (have you been given the odds?) it will be gone and if there is an associated reaction, such as swallowing air, the gas will decrease too. Again, I don't see a direct connection between AFib and bloating.

I'm a 21 year old male who is healthy and can handle stress relatively well. I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with ulcers in February 2013 by a Gastroenterologist. My Gastroenterologist said I have multiple ulcers along my stomach lining and a lot of inflammation. I started taking Protonix daily and watched what I ate. I have a lot of bloating and gas and a little bit of pain.
And now I am sure taking an Original Alka Seltzer, perhaps near bedtime, will help keep that acid down and also release gas, which generally causes bloating. The SOURCE of all this is the problem, and what a doc really should stay on top of until something makes it stop. If perchance you eat a lot of take-out and drink a lot of sodas, those things can make a person gassy.

For the last few days she has been subject to very painful occasions of bloating and severe intestinal gas pain. Don't find these in any of the listings of side effects other than "abdominal pain".
Anyone know if this is a common side effect and what can be done about it. She was in the hospital 2 weeks ago with a case of severe neutropenia and they gave here Metamucil twice a day. Does fiber have anything to do with it?
