Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting cat allergies

vomiting

Avatar f tn We adopted a cat from the Humane Society about a month and a half ago. He is approx. one year old. Since we brought him home we have been battling with diarriah and vomiting. The vet put him on antiobiotics and recommended chicken and rice for diet. The cat has an appetite and was eating for about 4 days without any vomiting, and finally had a solid stool. Then all of a sudden he vomited over the weekend again and then on Monday he vomited in 4 different spots of the house.
1565420 tn?1304572548 My 17year old cat is vomiting up a lot of his food every few days..sometimes daily. I cannot tell if it's because of hairballs. Sometimes it includes hairballs, somtimes not. Does anyone know what might be wrong with him. He also sneezes a lot and has a runny nose. Worried.
Avatar m tn Sometimes she can keep down a little bit of yogurt or a grilled cheese sandwich but that is about it. She has had 3 EGDs, CAT scans, ultrasound, and a ton of lab work. The only thing she has not done is a stomach emptying test but that is only because she can't keep the test food down for long enough to complete the test. There has to be some way to find out what is wrong. This has been going on for over two years and is getting worse.
Avatar m tn My animals do not handle vet trips well either, however if your cat is vomiting , and quite frequently, I would take him to the vet, he could become dehydrated and vomiting all the time indicates a medical issue. This could be anything from Food intolerance, allergies, parasites, etc..
Avatar f tn I hesitate to put her thru chemo again since it turned her skin almost black and she was so nauseous - barely ate anything. Could there be any other cause for the vomiting? Do cats get allergies that can cause vomiting? thanks for the advice!
Avatar f tn My cat has recently began ripping her hair out in the last week. She is an indoors cat mostly, but she has slipped outside a few times, as well. We live in the country. In the last week, she has been ripping her hair out and now has large bald patches (some are bleeding and scabbing). Tonight she vomited her food on the kitchen floor. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm very concerned.
Avatar f tn I have one cat that vomits everyday. When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn My cat was coughing and breathing heavy. I took her to the Vet and after they took X-Ray I was told she has to be under medication for two weeks. I started her on Clavamox 15 ML but after couple of days I noticed she vomits after each intake. I was told by the Vet to give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait 20 minutes before giving her Clavamox. She is not eating food and I am giving her Garbor baby food (chicken and rice) along with Clavamox. I noticed she still vomits after each intake.
Avatar f tn I have used Feline Dophilus, which is made by Natren, for my cat who has had various skin allergies, and it helped a lot. It also helped with her constipation, vomiting, and diarrhea. You can give it to your cat every day for three days, then every other day for a week or so, then cut back gradually to twice a week for maintenance. It is worth a try, and can't really hurt, since it is non-invasive for your kitty.

Avatar m tn my male cat was neutered 4 days ago, every time he eats he vomits ,even water.
Avatar n tn They usually relax after a while, when their systems have fully adapted to the change, unless the food gives them food allergies (vomiting is part of food allergies), in which case you would have to change the diet. Good Luck!
652407 tn?1300737199 Luckily, this food also works wonders for cats with food allergies, who experience what your cat is going through. The food is Hill’s d/d. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn I prepare my cats foods and it has worked for me. But I was 100% sure my cat had food allergies. Vomiting is also a sign of IBD, but if there is no weight loss I’d say he has something else and, my guess would be BEHAVIORAL problems. Something triggered this aggressiveness in him. I once had a cat like yours. My only solution was to re-home him. I did not take him to a shelter but looked for someone who had no pets and no kids (my little cousin was making the cat extremely nervous).
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
207091 tn?1337709493 My cat is about 16 years old, and over the last several months, has just been hungry all the time. She gets Fancy Feast canned (she won't eat any other kind - I've tried them all) and Iams Senior dry. She weighs about 6.5 lbs, and the most she ever weighed was just over 7. She doesn't get any human food.
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn How can I stop my cat from vomiting? She is taking Clavamox drops and was vomiting after each use. I spoke to her Vet and was told that I should give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait for 20 minutes and then give her Clavamox. She is not eating and Vet suggested to give her baby food with the Clavomox. I am doing what I was told but my cat is still vomiting.
Avatar n tn It could be the med causing the vomiting so ask your doctor to change it .
Avatar f tn Sounds to me like she may need at least an xray to see if there is a blockage in her intestines----This is very serious and urgent that you let the Vet do what he needs to do . Vomiting everything she eats was what caused my cat to have exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage---thank God there wasn't but she was a very sick little girl..
592969 tn?1248325405 Oh my gosh!! My pickiest cat, Butters, refuses any salmon flavored food. He won't even eat fresh salmon. Best thoughts for your cat. I've had my other cat, Bob, have an episode of vomiting but it cleared right up w/in a few hours and we surmised he ate a bug or something like that.
436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?
Avatar f tn I know some folks disagree with feeding our little carnivores a balanced raw diet but have you thought of doing that? That is how I got my cat to stop having food allergies AFTER getting the IBD diagnosis and researching on my own since all the vets wanted to do was put him on steroids to control the diarrhea and the bleeding. I had to change his raw diet because of other unrelated issues but ultimately, going back to basics seems to work for many cat owners out there.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
