Avatar n tn what vitamins can I take for my acne prone skin? my acne has mostly cleared but with vitamins id like to think it would help speed up the process! im 21 yrs. old now and its nearly clear ! I currently use tretnoin cream and clindamycin gel .
Avatar f tn If this doesn't do the trick for you, look internally. Vitamins A, Bs, C, D, and E, along with Fish Oil are all skin-friendly supplements to your diet. I do it all! Hope you find relief soon.
Avatar n tn A change in diet is usually the cause of my breakouts-- and I normally have very balanced skin as well. Usually the culprit is too many oily foods one week or taking too many oily supplements/vitamins that throw my pH off balance. Also overwashing/scrubbing skin can take off the protective layer, exposing your pores to bacteria and causing breakouts. This is another issue I've experienced myself. Do some brainstorming and cut back on whatever you suspect might be the cause.
Avatar n tn Water cleanses out the toxins in your skin and other organs. Also take a multivitamin for your age group/sex, and take vitamins and supplements that support skin health and immune system health. Any new treatment or change in diet will usually take about three weeks for a noticeable difference. Be patient. (BTW, don't bother purchasing the Answr Beam - doesn't work!
15429445 tn?1440502781 They can tell you whether you should take acne supplements or not. There are many sellers of supplements, and each will label their product. Ensure that you take your supplements according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once you take all the pills in the bottle you may ask your doctor whether it is safe to continue. If your acne clears then stop taking the pills. Continue eating food that gives you the nutrients you were seeking in supplements.
Avatar n tn At your age, if you are eating a good diet with some dark leafy veggies you probably don't need any extra vitamins. Drinking milk for Calcium is good, but you also need sunshine for vitamin D to be able to "use" the calcium. If you are taking iron, be sure to drink orange juice or another drink with vitamin C in it. Vitamin C helps the body to absorb iron better than just taking iron by itself.
Avatar f tn Hi. I never had facial acne as a young teen, but when I was 19 I started to get pretty severe seasonal acne. From around August to about the end of December I have ugly acne on the lower half of my face--my lower cheeks, between my cheekbones and jaw bones, kind of near my mouth.
Avatar m tn I too had always had balanced skin, so I was mystified. You say that you haven't changed your diet, but be sure you're including supplements and vitamins as well. My initial breakout was caused by CLA, an oily vitamin used for weight loss. Waxing can definitely lead to breakouts as it strips the skin of it's protective barrier, exposing the deepest layers of your pores to dirt and bacteria that they don't normally have to deal with. Overwashing and exfoliating does this as well.
Avatar n tn It is therefore unlikely that diet or dietary supplements contribute to this process. See your doctor for a topical acne gel such as Differin and/or a course of oral antibiotics such as Doxycycline. Eloise.
Avatar f tn For example, if I cook veggies for three minutes at high power, will more vitamins be degraded than if I cook them for six minutes at 50% power?

Avatar f tn The most natural acne treatment for is dieting. Minimize eating on fried foods, caffeine, chocolate, carbonated drinks, salt, wheat, and even milk can make acne worse. It's better to eat more vegetables and fruits instead of salty or sugar packed foods. It is also recommended to increase your vitamin A, zinc and Vitamin B6 levels in your body. And you may also take some supplements, but by consuming foods that are high in these three vitamins will drastically help your skin condition.
Avatar f tn If you have the mild type of acne, then I'd suggest treating the skin externally and from within. Skin-friendly supplements, such as Vitamins A, Bs, C, D, and E, iron, fish oil, and zinc can help. Make sure not to exceed the recommended doses, as it can be toxic. Plenty of water throughout the day will also help your body rid toxins and keep your pores supple and clean.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind that oily vitamins/supplements and foods (such as nuts, seeds, fats) can throw your pH off balance and trigger more sebum production. Overwashing/scrubbing or using new products can cause irritation as well. Cut back on whatever you suspect might be the cause until you notice improvement. All the best.
948349 tn?1294383837 Increased sebum production. The sebum is a prime food soure for acne causing bacteria, just as dead skin cells are. By reducing the amount of sebum you will also help your acne. Some people might have larger or more active sebaceous glands. What can be done, hormones are what play a role in stimulating the sebaceous glands to overproduce sebum.
Avatar m tn I have always been uber-strict with my washing regimen because I never again wanted to go through what I need in middle school and the trauma that came with acne. For years I was clear, balanced and glowing and all I did was wash with mild soap and a little baking soda fonce in a while. Sometimes just water. Then, one day I decided to try a CLA supplement for its weight-loss benefits, and the oils in it threw my whole pH off balance, breaking me out all over my face.
Avatar n tn a) overwashing/exfoliating, or b) consuming too much peanut/almond butter or oil-based vitamins and supplements. Working out as you know is great for the skin as long as you are sure to wash the sweat from your skin afterwards. Think about what changed when you turned 20-- changes in your diet, cleansing routine and intake of any medications or vitamins.

Avatar n tn Hi there, Good for you for listening to your gut about bleaching creams and treatments for acne. Any harsh products can only further irritate the skin, which we all know can lead to all sorts of other breakouts. I've definitely been a victim of that. Your cleansing routine sounds good for your skin type. Mild ingredients for a face wash is your best bet, along with stronger ingredients for a night-treatment.
Avatar f tn 6) Hypothyroidism can cause hair loss, typically frontal, and is particularly associated with thinning of the outer third of the eyebrows. 7) Hyperthyroidism can also cause hair loss. Avatar n tn Within these types of meals, you'll find the necessary minerals and vitamins your body needs to fight infection and keep your skin looking great. Secondly, you may also want to take a multivitamin that's appropriate for your age. Vitamins A, Bs, C, D, E and supplements of Fish Oil and Iron are all skin-friendly. Make sure not to exceed the suggested daily dose. Third, drink lots of water through out the day!!!
2026160 tn?1328928087 Many swimmers find that the combination of hot and humid weather, the physical exercise of swimming and the chlorinated pools, can cause major acne flare-ups. Don't pick. Instead of picking, rub ice on pustules and pimples for about five minutes, twice a day. Try to catch them when they are first forming and they most likely will go away. You can use Benzoyl Peroxide for this, but the surrounding tissue may get very dry.
Avatar m tn still..) and it seemed to stifle the hair loss for a bit and kept my acne somewhat under control. It wasn't an overall fix but it helped manage the problem a little. However about a week after my show my face erupted with cystic acne all over my cheeks. Literally out of no where. This is where the variables start to get sticky. My body fat was still very low, I had started introducing more of "normal person" diet, and for a week I didn't have my DHT blocker...
Avatar m tn This happened a few years ago and I has prescribed acutane for the severity of my condition. The acne eventually went away, but now it has somehow resurfaced. I work out a lot and therefore drink a lot of milk, take protein supplements as well as a supplement called nitric oxide to help with muscle development. It is worth noting that before my breakout, I still drank milk and took nitric oxide so I am not sure if these are the direct causes.
Avatar f tn Lemon juice over food helps lower the gl. I also eat loads of garlic, partly for my heart and also because I love it.I take vitamins and omega 3 fish oils daily. Emotionally I find cognitive behavioural therapy great as well as diet and exercise. I have a list of things to do when I start to feel low and this helps me hugely. If I do something about my moods when I see my warning signs then I don't sink too far. I take omega 3 fish oils for mood as well.
948349 tn?1294383837 I am 25 years old and have had acne since I was 14... and for once no more acne! In particular, I haven't suffered much on my face, only while I was a teen, but always had acne on my back. Not only that but my blackheads on my nose aren't there anymore! I even had blackheads on my shoulders. Sometimes on my back... always had many pimples on my back... tried so many things... using clean towels, clean bed sheets, wearing 2 shirts a day, Differin prescription acne cream, Proactiv.
Avatar f tn I also bought some vitamins B complex and fish oil in addition to my biotin and multi-vitamin for my skin and hair and just to get back on track. I was wondering though, if you have any other recommendations for how to take care of hair loss (naturally)? Or how long it might take for the hair to cease thinning or falling out if following this regimen? I also found out that there are lots of Celiacs in Italy!
280418 tn?1306329510 Hi. Acne is caused when androgens (male hormones found in both male and female bodies) stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands. Certain contraceptive pills (Yaz, Diane35 and Ortho Tri-Cyclen) block the action of androgens are are prescribed to control acne as well as provide birth control. If you cannot take the pill due to migraines ask your doctor for a gel called Differin. This is a topical synthetic retinoid which counteracts the abnormal skin processes invloved in acne. Eloise.
Avatar f tn I ended up getting blood tests testing for vitamin D deficiency, vitamin b12 deficiency, thyroid, and hormones, but everything came back fine except for a slight vitamin D deficiency. I started taking vitamin D supplements and my skin continued to look better (I don't think it had anything to do with the vitamin D because I was already starting to heal before that). Then one day I ate pizza (which I hadn't done for months) and I broke out.
