Avatar f tn So I'm 17 weeks pregnant and well I'm obviously taking my prenatal vitamins, but I wanna start taking the hair nail and skin vitamin as well? Do any of you know of its safe ? Or is it too much?
Avatar n tn I had that happen to my, my nail became dark then started to fall off and a new nail was growing underneath it, it took a couple of months for this whole process, ask her to try to remember if she hit it with something, if that's the case then nothing to worry it will grow back.
Avatar n tn Hi, what is described is glove and stocking neuropathy. Beside diabetes, trauma and infections, vitamin deficiencies namely B vitamins, including B1, B6 and B12, are particularly important to nerve health. Vitamin E and niacin also are crucial to nerve health. Not having enough of these vitamins in your system may cause peripheral neuropathy. Kidney disease, liver disease, connective tissue disorders, an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and amyloidosis also can cause peripheral neuropathy.
Avatar f tn I read this is nothing to worry about, I have them too. You can google Nail Problems & they will show you pictures of different nail problems. Hope this helps.

7610962 tn?1392586341 Nail quality is related to your health. Have you had labs? Because I have found dermatologists just treat symptoms, and are not interested in guiding people as to the cause of their skin and nail issues, I would start with your primary care provider. You need to be checked for vitamin deficiencies and causes for malabsorption, anemia, thyroid disease, etc.
Avatar f tn If you just take regular prenatal vitamins, your hair and nail will grow super fast. Because the prenatal vitamins have vitamin d & foliage acid which helps with hair and nail growth.
Avatar f tn They are VERY inportand not only for baby but for mommy as well you need roughly 600 mcgs of folic acid while pregnant it will help with fatigue as well as give mommy benefits some benifits include healthier skin, hair growth, nail growth, etc. you need folic acid (vitamin B9) for a number of compelling reasons. Folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects (NTDs)—serious birth defects of the spinal cord (such as spina bifida) and the brain (such as anencephaly).

Avatar f tn No, other than the bright white streaks they look normal / healthy. Thanks for replying, I did not know if perhaps they'd had no sun light or something and maybe needed vitamins.
Avatar f tn There is nothing in prenatal vitamins that encourage hair growth. That's a myth. This is a hormonal thing that differs from woman to woman in pregnancy. Just like some people are sicker than others.

Avatar n tn the roots at the bottom of the nail, were prob damaged in a small accident there for killing the roots causing the line down your nail.
Avatar f tn ) No my baby chihuahua went in for ingrown nail and when Vet checked her mouth, WOW. Her left front molar is wrapped around by “hair, etc.” at root, loose it is huge! I felt soooo upset for never noticing and Vet said she already has lost 7 teeth already! I know these breeds are prone! As I paid $300 yesterday for meds, nail cut and bandage/ plus 70$ for a 5 min. check up! Will the antibiotics suffice! I choose to get it not pulled as it will “fall out” anyway!
Avatar m tn Hello, Vertical ridges that appear on the nail can indicate disorders as simple as iron deficiency, poor absorption of vitamins and nutrients, kidney disease or can be due to pterygium. Pterygium of the nail is scarring from the base of the nail outward in a V formation, which leads to loss of the nail.I suggest you to get an examination done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.

Avatar m tn The only problem is my toe nails are getting darker. It started of by the small toe nail and spreading to every toe. I saw my GP and was put on Terbinafine and it stopped spreading but my toes remained black. I stopped taking the drugs because it could harm my liver function and I cannot be taking the drug all my life. The discolouring is spreading to other toes, it is embarrassing. What else can i do or use.
Avatar f tn The prenatal vitamins that you take daily are what's suppose to help with the hair length and nail growth.
