Vioxx back on market

Common Questions and Answers about Vioxx back on market

vioxx

Avatar n tn Vioxx was withdrawn from the market in 2004 due to heart/stroke issues. I doubt you can even get it, but if for some reason it id given to you, ask for something different. I know a couple of other people who have gout with no rise in uric acid. So yes, it probably is best to just go ahead and get treated if your doctor agrees. I assume you've probably already been to the doctor by now. Hope it's cleared up. That pain can be brutal!
Avatar m tn t stop the vics), that being aside, you should read the warning leaflet and decide for yourself if the side effects are worth it. I was given vioxx years ago, read the warnings about heart attacks and such, and threw them all in the trash! Not much later it was pulled from the market. If I lost a loved one, $$ isn't going to bring the back anyway, it's all stupid. If I do myself in, I guess I will come back and haunt the manufacturers....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........

Avatar f tn There was no money exchanged or special consideration given to get Vioxx on the market. However, Vioxx is a good example of a study not digging deep enough into long term effects of a new drug. Vioxx was introduced in 1999 and was originally thought of as a treatment for polyps in the intestinal track.
Avatar f tn However, some NSAIDs are more hepatotoxic than others. NSAIDs presently on the market that have been frequently associated with liver injury are aspirin (ASA), diclofenac (Voltaren), and sulindac (Clinoril). ***Ibuprofen (Motrin) has been reported to cause severe liver injury in people with hepatitis C. **** A new generation of NSAIDs, known as the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors, has recently been approved by the FDA.

Avatar m tn COX-2 inhibitors have been associated with some liver dysfunction, although not as commonly as other NSAIDs. Recently, Vioxx has been removed from the market due to heart-related problems. Celebrex and Bextra are currently being investigated for similar heart-related toxicities. It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs.

Avatar m tn o and my urine was 300 with 1+ blood in my urine. My lower back hurts mildy but since he put me on cipro 250mg eery twelve hours x 10 days the pain have subsided. Could this mean I have something wrong with my kidney's such as kidney failure. The doctor said it was a kidney and bladder infection. What do you think. I am on synthroid 112 daily for hyperthroidism.
Avatar n tn I have had three surgeries on my left eye (SLT, filtration, and then lazer cutting of filtration sutures to keep pressures low.), by a well known glaucoma specialist. After each surgery, my vitreous became 'looser' and more floaters erupted. Before each surgery, I asked the surgeon if the procedures would cause vitreous excitation, and each time he said no. Well, not so.
Avatar n tn [2] A series of small-scale studies completed in Germany found that H. procumbens was indistinguishable from Vioxx in the treatment of chronic low back pain,[3] and was well-tolerated after more than four years of treatment of H. procumbens alone.[4] H. procumbens also seems efficacious in the treatment of arthritis-caused hip and knee pain.
Avatar f tn I figure the kinks are worked out of it. i was on vioxx when it was pulled off the market and they were going to put me on Zelnorm and that got pulled. Just more comfortable with the oldies but goodies.

Avatar f tn Currently, there are no HCV nucleoside/tide inhibitors approved for the treatment of chronic HCV infection. We continue to work closely with the FDA on the development and regulatory review of PSI-7977, which has demonstrated compelling antiviral activity, a high barrier to resistance and has been generally well-tolerated in clinical trials to date.
Avatar n tn Symptons are always have been cold, tired, joint and muscle pain worse in fingers, I took Vioxx before it was removed , high blood pressure , tinnitus, completely deaf over 2,500 cycles in both ears. Hearing aids made no difference. Dentist last month couldn't freeze my gums with 2 needles of Carbocaine. 7mm nodule on thyroid. Blood tests TSH 2.15 ( range .465 to 4.68 ) FT4 11.17 ( range 10 to 28.2 ) Total T3 2.02 ( range .92 to 2.
Avatar n tn I had a DVT that went through my heart and into my lungs(PE). A valve was damaged, also one chanber of my heart. My problem is that I wasn't diagnosed as a "heart attack", but rather a "pulmonary embolism", and the lawyers representing me in my vioxx lawsuit say it has to be a heart attack, not a PE. Isn't a heart attack part of a PE? Rather, did I suffer a heart attack as well as a pulmonary embolism?
Avatar m tn sooner or later you will be bone on bone, which is unstable and painfull. your other option might be to do a nerve block on the effected nerve roots. i dont agree with the #4 response if they are talking about fusion. with a discectomy i would however agree. i'm not a doctor but had 10mm bulge L5-S1, L4-L5 3mm bulge with anular tear, Degenerative disc disease. curious what your doctor would say. most of what you have had done is considered conservative treatment.
1041656 tn?1253394619 Since the beginning of this month I have had a rash on my back and chest. Could this be related to my insulin? I tried to make a doctor's appointment but my doctor is out of the country this month. I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems, or if anyone has any idea of what could be causing this rash and how to treat it. Any information would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn There are many long release pain medications on the market that will help you. You need to ask your Dr about your options and go from there. There are many different strengths and kinds to choose from and your Dr will know which one may be right for you.
1326947 tn?1277294765 I just spoke to my doctor she said there is a new medication that will be on the market in 2 months. If there is a chance treatment will help u regardless of success rates u need to try. You have one liver and the faster u treat the hep c the better your chances. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
