t want it there so I started to take Valacyclovir it would keep breaking out every month or so I went on a daily maintenance of 500mg a day. I'm on daily 1 gram valacyclovir for suppressive therapy. I can feel a new outbreak coming. Would it help if a take the valacyclovir twice daily for a couple of days to help with the OB?
I have been in mmtp for almost 2 years now. I was on a fixed dose of 70mgs for a while and then found out I was pregnant. Further into your pregnancies you need to increase your dose cuz you get less and less due to the baby. Well i went up to 115 and wanted to detox asap! I managed to come straight down to 56 mgs 2mgs a day. Now the trouble begins. My husband is in Iraq soon to be home in 6 wks or so. I would like to be off the ball and chain (methadone) for good by the time he comes home.

I have read that Valtrex and Valacyclovir can be used for the suppression of herpes , does that hold true for Valcivir also,, isn't Valacyclovir the generic of Valciver ,, if yes what is the usual dosage for the suppression of the virus?
1) I have the beginnings of a cold sore on the lip. For Valacyclovir and Valtrex the recommended dosage is 2000mg every 12 hours...total of 4000mg in 24 hours. I have 2000mg of Valtrex and 2000mg Valacyclovir from prior outbreaks. Can I take them together for the some effect? Or do I need to take the 4000mg total dose with the same drug?

Speak with your doctor about increasing the dose or perhaps switching to valacyclovir, which gives higher blood levels and sometimes is more effective than acyclovir.

I am also hearing from you that, while taking the valacyclovir, if I were to miss a dose accidentally then I should probably also avoid sex for a week because there might be some rebound in viral shedding.
