I believe I caught HSV-1 orally about six months ago... I also believe I caught HSV-1 genitally about four weeks ago or less... My symptoms were never more than a blister that appeared on my lips and also on my genitals, but they never burst or popped... Just the common symptoms - tingling, itching... However, on my genitals it seems to be a bit more painful... I have been using a transdermal oxygem cream which GREATLY reduces the discomfort and the rising of the white 'blisters.
IT IS STILL THERE FOR 7 MONTHS, I TRIED ALL ANTI-BACTERIAL SYRUPS AND TABLETS.. but of no use. Now i have 2 white spots and white patches on the throat, sometimes i can smell foul odor but not everyday.
One month after my exposure, my 6 year old daughter developed Fever reaching 104 deg and her lips were reddish(inflammation) and swollen. She recovered after a week's treatment. On and Off she is complaining that she is getting irritation on lower lips.
Nothing more was said as he handed me a prescription for Valacyclovir (two 2000mg doses 12 hours apart). I phoned him back on the Friday and told him that there was no change in my condition. Another prescription for valacyclovir was written and filled (three 2000mg doses 12 hours apart).
On Monday (six days ago) I seen my family doctor for his opinion.
I talk valacyclovir for herpes out breaks I have a high dosage one for when I get them it doesn't harm the baby.
Though this is my first pregnancy and I'm 7 weeks.
They told me once I get closer to my due date to take them daily so there is no break out.

I'm not sure that I understand your response.
1. I think that you meant to say that "experience tells us that when people ?quit? taking the valacyclovir, they sometimes do have an outbreak soon after that." This is my concern, that the valacyclovir takes over and that the body's immune response is less engaged in fighting the infection. Do you see what I mean?

I realize I need to get retested but I'm losing sleep over this. I have been checking downstairs daily and noticed these red little painless bumps and they have been there for two weeks. They look like little zits. I have them in two areas not on the moist part but outside the lips near the hair. They are essentially painless and not too itchy. I've been on valacyclovir 500mg per day and the red bumps still won't go away.
As such I contacted my doctor and was prescribed valacyclovir hcl which I took (2 1 gram tablets twice daily). The cold sore remained small and eventually went away. After this I went 1-2 days without taking any Lysine or valacyclovir and on the second day I noticed the cold sore coming back again and now appears to have come back and crusted over. I did not think the new cold sore was actually one but then it crusted over.
Hi, antiviral inhibit the virus from multiplying and aide in healing. If after 2 weeks with no change would not appear as herpes. You should have had a swab done or a blood test before taking the meds.
A doctor thought i might have it just by giving a quick look. He gave me valacyclovir 2 weeks ago to take 3 times a day for 7 days. I took all the medicine and didnt see any difference its still the same now. Just small white bumps with no sores or blistering or scabbing. If it was herpes how fast would the medicine help to make a difference or me noticing a difference? Im starting to think it might not be herpes since he gave me medicine 2 weeks ago and its the same looking. Opinions?
And although recurrent outbreaks can occur while taking valacyclovir, they are rare -- and monthly is unheard of. It is possible your HSV has become resistant to the drug, but that's quite rare as well.
As for valacyclovir side effects, you needn't worry.
I was diagnosed with Herpes 33 years ago and have been using 1000 mg Valacyclovir a day for the past 4 years and have been free of outbreaks until a few weeks ago when I lost my job and became quite stressed.
I was able to take one extra tablet of 500 mg which stopped the outbreak from turning into blisters, but I am concerned if this medication is not working for me anymore.
I also wonder if Valacyclovir is the same as Valtrex or if Valtrex is stronger?

A month ago I had protected sex, using a condom. Already the same day I felt some burning when urinating. Over the following few days the burning increased and spread. My genital area started itching and tingling and I also started feeling some pain in my left foot. My upper lip was also tingling on the left side. I did a lot of reading about STI:s and found HSV-2 to be the most likely diagnosis...
I'm on daily 1 gram valacyclovir for suppressive therapy. I can feel a new outbreak coming. Would it help if a take the valacyclovir twice daily for a couple of days to help with the OB?
What are the contraindications of taking penicillin and valacyclovir during the same cycle ? Can they both be taken on the same day ?
The start as a small dot that develops a white ring and the white ring spreads outward and the sore gets bigger with a shallow red sore inside it. They start and take about 10-15 days to heal and typically occur in same areas, back of tongue and tip of tongue. My tongue also feels hot and burns. My dr said she was pretty sure it was herpes virus that caused my cold sore, so i guess spread to the tongue.

I had a standard HIV test done on the first day of symptoms (about a week after my last sexual exposure) and that test came back negative. Doc now has me on valacyclovir because he thinks i have oral herpes. The valacyclovir has taken much of my fever away. And the nystatin and valacyclovir have together mostly cleared up my tongue sores and blisters. But I feel like without the valacyclovir, i'd be very very sick. Also my lymph node on the right side of my groin is still quite swollen.

My question is, can Valacyclovir be taken as a preventative measure if I take it a few days in advance of the big event? If so, what dosage? Thanks.

Would you double the valacyclovir dosage or at least up it? What about for long-term suppressive therapy? If someone could in particular elucidate how valacyclovir works and WHY it would be important/ unimportant to adjust that dosage based on wanting to suppress both conditions, you would have my eternal thanks.
I have had no painful urination or obvious painful blisters associated with herpes. I have had pain in the tip of my groin and a white flat mark next to my urethra. Doctor I saw said it was nothing. Pain persisted so I ended up taking Doxycycline 2 days ago, which I stopped using after another doctor recommended I stop because I was seeing bumps in my lips (possible side effect?).
