As such I contacted my doctor and was prescribed valacyclovir hcl which I took (2 1 gram tablets twice daily). The cold sore remained small and eventually went away. After this I went 1-2 days without taking any Lysine or valacyclovir and on the second day I noticed the cold sore coming back again and now appears to have come back and crusted over. I did not think the new cold sore was actually one but then it crusted over.
At the end of last summer I started getting a lot of irritation in my genital area and muscle fatigue in my groin, testicles, penis and left leg. I couldn't even sleep. I did get a very small pimple like bump on my penis that was painful. You could barely see it, but it hurt. I went to my primary doctor, dermatologists, and had and ultra sound done. They didn't find anything wrong.
Due to high fever, i went to er , they did a test for herpes and called me and said I have it. They prescribed. valacyclovir hcl. I just started taking it today. I read that this can be common with people who have aids. I have not had unprotected sex deliberately but condom broke. I had a steady girlfriend but broke up one. I am scared to death that I have aids.
That's what my Dr gave me and I'm sure it's valtrex. It's valacyclovir hcl 1 gram tablet. I went to get a second opinion at an std clinic and they confirmed I have herpes type 2. I plan on going back to the std clinic next Wednesday so I can ask more questions b/c my primary Dr seems to not be on her A game when it comes to this situation.

herpes around the eye can be dangerous which is why seeing an ophthalmologist for a proper and more complete eye exam is always recommended. it's always recommended that you get a full exam to make sure it's not infected the eye but is only infecting the skin around the eye. you really should call monday, let them know why you need seen and get seen this week.
there will not be a cure for herpes by the end of this year dear. You need to accept that you have it and treat it.

I woke up one Monday morning last October with a sore on the right side of my upper lip. What had been a small pimple the night before was really red, swollen and sore. I’m going to get her to test again so if she tests positive for HPV 1 at least I have a diagnosis. I put her on valacyclovir 1 gram BID and that is keeping the conjunctivitis in check. I am an otherwise healthy mid 20s female who contracted genital hsv-1 in 2004. Long story short, no recurrences for 5+ years. In the past 6 months I have been getting a "cut" in different areas on my vagina. I have also been sexually active, which I was not previously for a while. Is this from rough sex, or is this herpes? When I take valacyclovir it clears in a day or two.
Also, is it normal to be getting recurrences after not having it for years and years?
I'm on daily 1 gram valacyclovir for suppressive therapy. I can feel a new outbreak coming. Would it help if a take the valacyclovir twice daily for a couple of days to help with the OB?

Hello, I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with my first child and I acquired genital HSV-1 from oral sex 8 years ago. I only had a primary outbreak 8 years ago, and never had another outbreak. I have had only 2 sex partners in my life. My boyfriend in college who had HSV-1 (cold sore on his mouth) and transmitted it to me, and my husband. I am healthy and have no health issues at all.
I got infected with genital herpes about 5 months ago, from unprotected oral sex from a striper.... I took valacyclovir 1 g twice a day within 24 hours of the initial episode, and kept taking it until I got better, which took a while (a month almost)....
My symptoms (ulcers, itchiness and pain/discomfort) have been recurrent and very persistant since. I think I have had symptoms 3-4 out of every 5 days since day one.

Ask him if he has a way of checking to see if your stomach does not produce enough hcl. He will probably have you buy some hcl capsules from him or from the healh food store and take it with meals. What you do is take 1 capsule with your meal. If you get no burning in your stomach, then the next meal you take 2 capsules. If you get no burning in your stomach, then with the next meal you take 3 capsules. And so on, until you get burning. Once you get burning, you cut back 1 capsule.
