I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, that you weren't snooping -- i.e., you ran into your partner's valacyclovir (Valtrex) prescription by accident. The majority of valacyclovir prescriptions are written for genital herpes. However, it is also prescribed frequently for oral herpes; or perhaps somewhere along the line she had an outbreak of herpes zoster (shingles). But for the rest of this reply let's assume she has genital herpes.

On the day of the test, I had just got done taking the Valacyclovir for 5 days(that I got online and took on my second, third and fourth outbreak symtoms in April May and July). I had not stopped taking the l-lysine for the whole period as a precaution and to reduce symptoms/outbreaks although its not proven.

Dr H, I went off the Valtrex and about 10 to 14 days later (last night) I noticed one pimple like bump at the site of a hair follicle and one small pus filled area (but not at the site of a hir follicle), both at the base of my penis shaft near the juncture with the scrotum. I have posted a message in the community forum regarding these current developments sbut would also very much value your thoughts ... (Stupidly) I pulled the hair follicle out and also squeezed the pus filled area.

I was diagnosed with Herpes 33 years ago and have been using 1000 mg Valacyclovir a day for the past 4 years and have been free of outbreaks until a few weeks ago when I lost my job and became quite stressed. I was able to take one extra tablet of 500 mg which stopped the outbreak from turning into blisters, but I am concerned if this medication is not working for me anymore. I also wonder if Valacyclovir is the same as Valtrex or if Valtrex is stronger? I appreciate your help.

What are the contraindications of taking penicillin and valacyclovir during the same cycle ? Can they both be taken on the same day ?

HELP! My hair is falling out at ever-increasing rates. For six months I've been on Tirosint 50 mcg/day b/c of mild allergic reaction to Synthroid (facial puffiness after taking it and mild hair loss) and Levoxyl (worse swelling.) I have seen a local Derm who said there was no scarring on my scalp and no real skin issues associated with my hair loss. t experienced hair loss but have heard this is a (fairly rare) side effect. You should notify your neurologist and report this adverse event to Shared Solutions. Is it possible for you to switch to another DMD if this becomes intolerable?

Does this mean that my partner, who is HSV2 (genital) and I, who am HSV1 (cold sores lips), can have mutual unprotected oral sex and I will not get infected? Or does this mean that he can give me unprotected oral sex but I cannot give him unprotected oral sex?
