at this point it's really a chicken and the egg type thing. the vast majority of folks who take valtrex don't experience hair loss. most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop.
I too had side effects such as fatigue, extreme selectivity to taste and smell and aggression and then other side effects appeared on my second round of antiviral that were not classified as side effects by my doctor, but stopped once I was off Valtrex after 7 days. These other side effects were memory loss and cognitive difficulty, slurring speech, liver pain, and momentary "blips" or blackouts.These disappeared within a few days of being off the antiviral.
I read what the publish side effect say, but it does say not all listed side effects are listed and itprovides a way to get the "complte list"
I sure hope it doesn't include hair loss, I've lost enough hair already and just went on Flecainide today
I forgot to add that I have never had a breakout/rash. There is one cut that always appears and goes away with medication. I get it every month, since being diagnosed 4 months ago :( Not too bad, but I have a partner and want to do everything in my power to stop risk of spreading.
Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications.
You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.

s merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I'm on tapazole 10mg daily dose. Is there something I can do? I had my blood work done on Friday and WBC was normal... does it fluctuate easily?

I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
I have been reading the posts on here about post treatment side effects and I was wondering how many of you have had severe hair loss? I only treated for 24 weeks but had lots of problems throughout treatment. I am 2 and half months post tx. Anyhow my hair will grow for about 4 to 7 days max then it falls back out. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).
The numerous reports may be the 1% who have the hair loss, so that doesn't prove the original drug trial %s were in error. Many people take this drug so if there was a large % with hair loss I would imagine it would have been reported and docs would stop prescribing it.

Im not to comfortable with him, he never told me about valtrex possible side effects. I had look information of valtrex and my symptoms are very similar to valtrex side effects including confusion, agressive behavior, low state of consiousness, rash, nausea, allergic reactions and visual abnormalities.

in RARE instances, hair loss within the first few months of starting this medecine. This effect is usually temporary as your body adjusts to this medecine. Etc.
Question:
1/ I read a lot about people loosing their hair. Does it grow back to its normal state?
2/ Is it common to GAIN weight while taking Synthroid? If so, how hard to go back to normal weight and after how long?
3/ Is it more difficult to get pregnant while on Synthroid?
Since then I have had a couple of side effects that I think may be from the IUD and wanted to know if anyone else has had any of these (or others).
The biggest problem is joint pain, primarily in my legs...although my back is pretty tight, but I suspect mostly from carrying the baby. I looked into reasons for joint pain and Mirena IUD came up and thinking back it started about a month or so after I had the IUD put in.
