he was prescribed aciclovir and valaciclovir both at 200mg every 8 hours for 30 days. From what I have read so far it seems that it is usually one or the other not both. He was able to obtain the aciclovir but not able to find valaciclovir anywhere in Cuba at this time...should the one be enough for the first outbreak...and perhaps controlling any future outbreaks should he use the valaciclovir??
i know Suppressive therapy by valaciclovir can lower the risk to infect my partner but if it harm my sperm ? i dont want valaciclovir hurt my baby too.

do not think think there is a current therapy for low platelets but Glaxo Smith Kline has a drug called eltrombopag in trials and they just recieved a fast track review status from the FDA. Glaxo may be able to give better guidance on a rough time estimate for when it may be available and you could discuss it with your doctor and decide whether to wait or operate. There are a number of people on this site with low platelets. How low are your numbers?
The doctor gave me an injection of phosphonic acid potassium sodium for 7 days,and ate valaciclovir hydrochloride for 1 month,and used a-interferon .

A newer agent called Anoro by Glaxo seems to help even though it is more of a COPD adjunct medicine. Do some homework on the new IL-5 inhibitors for asthma that should hit the market in the next year or two. Went to doctors, he gave me Doxycycline + Valaciclovir + cream to put on wound
- Tuesday/Wednesday (same week): foreskin wound starts to heal.
- Thursday (same week): clear sign of healing
- Friday (same week): looks almost healed with pink/reddish new skin (shines when light on it) but a yellow tip (very small) that looks like pus (but no fluid) at the very centre.
NO OTHER SYMPTOMS: no itch, no tingling, no pain, no other sore/blisters
Should I get tested for STDs??
I would stop taking the valaciclovir. If you are uncomfortable with this approach then I suggest you get ONE more test. I predict it will be negative and when it is, then stop the valaciclovir.

I took valaciclovir during my first trimester of pregnancy (around 10 weeks) for a cold sore. I took the medication for 3 consecutive days. I read online that the medication is considered a class B drug and has no increased risk for birth defects. I am a bit worried now and wanted a second opinion.
your results are so good that it makes no difference to yor liver if you have it or not and you dont need antiviral, hbv cure is on trial now (see post below about glaxo), you may try to get on that trial or wait until is finished and et cured.
I was given 500mg Azithromycin which appeared to clear symptons (discomfort when passing stools, mucus discharge, gas) within 48hours. I also took Doxycycline and Valaciclovir for around 10 days as a precaution until I was cleared of Chlamyda and herpes. In the last two days I have felt some discomfort inside my anus again, and today I noticed more mucus was still on my stool. Could this still be my body healing from the infection, or could it be back/something else?

When I developed gynecomastia (which is minor and I ignore) I lowered the dose of AVODART to one twice a week which is 8/month (from 15/month). AVODART has a long half life. Will 8/month still work? I wrote to GLaxo who make Avodart and they said what you said "ask your physician". My physician is very busy and I don't want to waste his time. My next appointment is in June and I will ask at that time if I don't have an answer by then.
So the immediate Valtrex (Valaciclovir) consumption was my lame attempt to fix a dumb error, but while on my walk home I started thinking about what I could have picked up and I figured that I'd hate myself later even more if I walked passed the pharmacy and didn't start a regimen of Valtrex just in case it actually did something. Hell if I have the virus, at least I won't get huge lesions this week or the next.

That same day, I noticed a cold sore coming on. I have a prescription for Valaciclovir but only had one pill remaining. I took it and the cold sore never appeared. The rash down there did not get any better. I have heard that most people often confuse herpes for razor burn. Could I be having outbreaks and mistaking it for razor burn?
This drug should only be taken if all else has failed. It has a stronger affinity for choline and serotonin receptors than other drugs and is therefore very very hard to stop taking, and because it's so strong if you do have to stop taking it for any reason other drugs might then now work. That's common with this drug. The manufacturer, Glaxo-Smith-Kline has been sued to the gills over this drug and the victims are everywhere.
