Avatar n tn do not think think there is a current therapy for low platelets but Glaxo Smith Kline has a drug called eltrombopag in trials and they just recieved a fast track review status from the FDA. Glaxo may be able to give better guidance on a rough time estimate for when it may be available and you could discuss it with your doctor and decide whether to wait or operate. There are a number of people on this site with low platelets. How low are your numbers?

Avatar f tn This drug should only be taken if all else has failed. It has a stronger affinity for choline and serotonin receptors than other drugs and is therefore very very hard to stop taking, and because it's so strong if you do have to stop taking it for any reason other drugs might then now work. That's common with this drug. The manufacturer, Glaxo-Smith-Kline has been sued to the gills over this drug and the victims are everywhere.

You might also want to do some homework on allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis (ABPM).

I went to my family doctor after seeing the commercials on TV and asked for it because I understood it could prevent recurrences and since I was coming out of a long term relationship it made sense.
