4433579 tn?1354551748 My husband and I have been ttc for over a year, but in 2010 I got my left tube removed because of a softball size cyst. I am now on metformin and take B12 vitamins, are my chance nil on getting pregnant? I don't have periods unless I take provera for ten days...
950954 tn?1271210887 Do you think that the Meformin has begun to help me ovulate?
950954 tn?1271210887 ve been discharging a clear/white sticky and elatically looking mucus, slight increase in the release of gas, frequent clear urination, and pelvic pain on my lower left and sometimes right side. I already saw my GYN and she told me that this could be a sign of ovulation. My GYN has withdrawn blood from me to check my Estrogen level and I'm hoping that this means that I'll be able to determine when I'm ovulating.
736178 tn?1237223790 Being a nurse, I knew this medication is for diabetics and had never heard of its use in infertility. I think my doctor, based on the studies, put me on the medication in case there is a chance of infertiltiy with increased insulin. Hope this helps some.
1907238 tn?1340711313 Metformin is also used to treat PCOS and Adrenal Hyperplasia in women suffering from infertility. It works to combat insulin resistance, a common symptom of PCOS. It also helps to decrease DHEA, a hormone made by the adrenal glands, as well as to suppress testosterone production. I have a high level of DHEA and testosterone, but don't fall into any clinical diagnosis. My doctor just started me on Metformin due to this and a recent pregnancy loss.
Avatar f tn That was in 2004. At end of july of 06 i started seeing a chiropractor. Now mind you i tried metformin, clomid, and iui which none took. 2days after christmas of 06 i found i was pregnant. My suggestion and thats all it is is a suggestion is to see a reprod dr to see if you have pcos, try what they recomend, dont give up faith, dont give up trying and also to help with what you are doing, try seeing a chiropractor.
Avatar f tn Then she(doc 2) gave me Clomid and metformin and Duphoston(not sure of spelling) for cycle that month. I have had regular periods this year. today is my Cd 20. I went to the doc again last friday. She then asked me to double my dose of Metformin from 500g/day to 1000g/day. Along with duphoston which is just 10mg daily. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Really desperate on TTC and many a times i just loose confidence and hope. Then again I get a sense of positive feel. Gosh!
Avatar f tn Yes you can. I'm 23yr dx when I was 17 and am now finally pregnant with our first. Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction.
Avatar m tn It is just going to be a matter of time. Ovigyn d is not a medication that I am familiar with, and is not in common use in the US. From what I understand it contains the pregnancy hormone hcg. If you were my patient, I would probably consider something such as Clomid and Metformin in combination to improve ovulation and shorten the time to conception. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Yes,By taking metformin ,I sometimes feel like faint and weak,my body hasnt become use to of it.My height is 5'2.
256553 tn?1258883918 If you go to any website on infertility or pcos it will discuss the use of Metformin. I have been on Metformin for pcos and have been on it for one year. It has corrected my FSH & LH levels and helped me to lose 25 lbs without hardly trying. The Metformin sensitizes the cells to insulin therefore lowering the body's production of insulin, which also then reduces androgen production. Once this happens, ovulation often resumes. I beleive that this is particular with pcos conditions.
Avatar f tn s a drug that they also use for diabetics but it helps regulate your hormones in your uterus (plus PcOS increases your chances of diabetes) anyways a side effect of metformin is weight loss...so that may help!
415867 tn?1323365503 (7) IMPROVED CHANCE OF PREGNANCY. A study of 48 women with PCOS and infertility was conducted at the Baylor College of Medicine. They were first given metformin and 19 of them resumed menstruating and showed indications of ovulation. But 10 required clomiphene (a fertility drug) in addition to metformin in order to show evidence of ovulation. Twenty women of the 48 (42%) became pregnant. However, 7 of the 20 miscarried.(8) REDUCED RISK OF MISCARRIAGE.
608553 tn?1389502811 I told the clinic I STRONGLY feel like I suffer from PCOS and they asked me why. I explained how I have EVERY symptom of it... Infertility, excessive facial/chest hair, etc. and they made me an appointment for a sonogram but then cancelled it and keep giving me the run around. I think it could be that I don't have health insurance. Anyway, I've registered in a PCOS website where I get news letters because I feel THAT strongly about it!
Avatar f tn One of the most effective treatments is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills which aids in regulating a woman’s hormones. For resistant cases, there area few options available including assisted reproductive technology procedures such as controlled ovarian hyperstimulation with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) injections followed by in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
Avatar f tn When I was 17 I had a ectopic pregnacy and they gave me a shot to rid of it. Soon after my menstral cycle came very few and in between. Over the past few years my husband and I have been trying to coceive. They put me on metformin and other stuff such as birthcontrol to force my menstral cycle but would only bring it for 2 days. Now im on nothing and not having a cycle at all. What are your suggestions?
1546050 tn?1293688410 She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc. I am now following a low GI eating plan I got on the internet. My question is - should I be on Glucophage if I was not properly tested for insulin resistance and if my sugar test came out within normal range?
Avatar f tn I have pcos. In going to start taking metformin which I was told has helped many women conceive. Periods have been regular but got onto birth control, the pill, to keep it regulating. Will I be successful in conceiving our child/ren with metformin and after I get off birth control?
1582478 tn?1296591223 Hi hun first what metformin does is regulates your hormone levels which for some women helps you start you period and in time helps with ovulation! So yes metformin will help you get pregnant!! In fact if you read the package insert it says to use protection if you don't want to be pregnant. Recent studies show that metformin alone is just as effective over time at inducing ovulation as clomid and metformin combined.
Avatar n tn I was started on Metformin for my second child after being diagnosed with secondary infertility and blocked tubes. ENDOCRINOLOGIST put me on Metformin conceived next month! Miscarried, conceived again following year.
Avatar f tn Not all women with PCOS have cysts on there overies. I am currently on 500 mg BID of Metformin to help with the PCOS. I had some problems at first that lasted maybe the first week, but I am feeling better then ever!! You can never "cure" PCOS, but you can help it. With medication, being healthy by eating and loosing weight(not sure if you are overweight, or are dealing with weight problems). When TTC there are medications for example like Clomid to help a women ovulate.
Avatar f tn So the first treatment option for infertility is usually the administration of drugs to induce ovulation like Clomid which you have already started . Secondly Glucophage or Metformin is an insulin-sensitizing agent that is sometimes used in conjunction with Clomid. Please discuss this treatment opton also with your doctor. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
223956 tn?1208737570 Many of severe PCOS cases have insulin resistance and thus a lot of people associate metformin with PCOS, but essentially it is related to insulin resistance, which many a times causes infertility
Avatar m tn 5 Kg (without taking METFORMIN) Then when I went back to my old infertility specialist gynecologist , she told me she already knew all this and she also gave me a prescription of METFORMIN SR 500mg but Slow release metformin and she said good time to take this is afternoon instead of night. and only to take them for only 3 months and not more than that... She also said it is better I remove my fibriods thru laparoscopy. She told me to test for AMH by EIA and I did so , It was 2.
1626928 tn?1378850167 HI, Letrozole is many times effective in women who show no response to clomiphene. Also the metformin will help in normalizing hormones in women with PCOS. If there are no results with letrozole then help with gonodatropins may be necessary. Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn m not sure why you think Metformin only works on fat - in diabetes, the primary function of metformin is to stop the liver from over-producing glucose. "it only works on fat" - not sure what you mean.
