I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?

But lo and behold no problem could be found for that fair maiden and she remained on the tussionex for many, many months. She started taking this med according to the instructions, 1 pill every 12 hours, not to exceed 2 in 24 hours or the consequences could be grave indeed. Well, after a few weeks, the meds were no longer working and so the lady felt she had to up the dosage in order to get the same effect as before.

I am hopefully going to start treatment AGAIN for tussionex withdrawal and treatment. Pray for me. Any suggestions or any other people out there like me? I am so alone.

sober 20+ years in 12 step program. Take Tussionex for chronic cough, 1 tsp. per day. I don't abuse it by taking more. But, if I don't take it every day I start to feel like I am getting the flu. Is that withdrawal, just the level in my blood is dropping off after 24 hours? Would appreciate anyone's input, especially if you have experience. Thanks and bless you all. Had all the allergy shots available on the planet (allergies to dust/dust mites) and today, I read about Tussionex. I control my blood pressure very well with Adalat once a day. I'll be seeing my GP on April 8. I pray that Tussionex (taken only 8 hours or 12 hours prior to my show/s as opposed to taking the narcotic regularly - that's scary) would be permissible for me even when taking Adalat.

Last night and today, I have relapsed yet again on Tussionex. For the past two weeks, I have felt nothing but excruciating pain in my heart from so many losses. Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.

The doctor said that because his prescription is so severe, he wants him to wear the glasses all the time and to cover his good eye with a patch for 8 hours a day for a year and half at least, which it bothers him tremendously. Any other suggestion in this matter? How do I get my son to wear the patch? and do you think it is too early for an astigmatism to be detected? Will his vision benefit from the glasses and the patch? Thank you for your response. The rx was Tussionex, a hydrocodone based cough syrup. I got the rx filled 4 times between 4 doctors. I did this over a course of 1 month (started in January and got caught yesterday) I had a total of 6 rx (2 I tried to get filled in a matter of one week) the reason I tried to do 2 in one week is bc my dr wrote me a script on Tuesday (this dr had already written me a script two weeks prior). I went to the pharmacy to try to get it filled.
