my window period for pap closing tomorrow and i am only taking truvada, and i m reading that usually truvada taken with other hiv prophylaxis meds, so this is what i wanted to know if truvada only is enough for prophylaxis. i m calling a doctor but he is not picking up...
I had an unprotected oral sex, with a small sore on my penis. Right at the day of the exposure I took one pill of truvada as a post-prophylaxis therapy. 1 pill and not more. After 6 weeks I have negative 4-th generation test. But is there a possibility that I have a much longer seroconversion period because it this one pill of truvada? Does it have impact on results or just one pill does not make a difference?

You then began to take post-exposure prophylaxis, apparently without a health care provider's supervision.
I would not have recommended PEP for you but of course, if you want it, I am sure you can get it.

I was stuck by a tbs syringe after giving heparin sq. After finding out that he was + hiv. I started prophylaxis combivir/kaletra 5 hrs after the incident.There was no blood in the syringe. I let it bleed and washed it with soap/water. What are the odds that I can convert to hiv+.
I am also worried about the possible side effects of the drugs. I am planning to discontinue the drugs-...I feel tired easily and has a history of high cholesterol/triglycerides.

Do you recommend the truvada over the viread or baraclude? If while being switched from Hepsera to truvada is there a risk that the Hep B could become active? Also , the Hepatitis B DNA is currently undetectable and the Hep B Surface AG is currently negative (both prior to transplant as well as post transplant, so far ) what are the chances that the Hep B could become active again once the Hbig infusions are stopped? Basically, enjoy the experience and if you plan to do these things in the future, look into PREP (Pre Exposure Prophylaxis) Truvada is tested to be 98% successful at preventing HIV from HIV positive partners. Generics are easy to come by if you live outside the US.

t think, basing dosing on HIV folks is the right way to go for HBV treatment strategies. HBV and HIV do not even compare in terms of damage that HIV does to the whole body at once.
And they may as well have made an improvement to the drug. So I think it is a good thing if they keep the same potency at lower dose. Because it is very true that how much of it is absorbed by cells that is what really counts..

He said he's clean, but I don't know whether to believe that. If he is HIV positive, how possible is it I contracted HIV? I rushed to the ER this morning to get PEP, but is it even necessary? And what happens if I did contract HIV and the PEP doesn't work.
m unsure how HIV Screen 4th Generation results from blood drawn 60 hours post exposure will change my treatment. If positive maybe I will be told to continue Truvada and drop Tivicay (i.e. cease PEP and start HIV treatment.) I'm still unsure I should be risking side effects for a 0.4% probability I'd get HIV even if my partner was infected. Anyway - one day at a time! Hi, if a hiv negative person is taking truvada and contracts corona virus, will they be able to fight off the corona virus? Or will taking truvada negatively affect their ability to fight off the corona virus? Is their immune system compromised while taking truvada? I can tell you that having had even limited unprotected anal intercourse with a person on unknown HIV status, you did place yourself at risk for acquiring HIV. Unprotected anal intercourse is the riskiest of sexual activities. However, as the "top", you were at lesser risk than your partner. That the insertion was brief also bodes well for you.
Now that you are on PEP, that does extend the testing time to a final, conclusive result.
The question is with this one possible exposure and taking Truvada within the first 12 hours of exposure, what are the chances that i was infected by HIV, others.
I was thinking of going to the messuage polar again and seeing if the girl would be willing to take an oral HIV test (20 minute wait time). Pretty sure she would for the money.
After several hours going from a hospital to another, I finally could get a Truvada pill in the very deadline limit of the treatment, probably between the 72nd and 74th hour after the sex.
I was quite desperate and I felt that the staff in this hospital wasn't too much prepared to take cases like mine with HIV risk envolved. It took too many hours, even though I tried to explain them the gravity about this situation.
