Hi, if a hiv negative person is taking truvada and contracts corona virus, will they be able to fight off the corona virus? Or will taking truvada negatively affect their ability to fight off the corona virus? Is their immune system compromised while taking truvada? Or can they take truvada without any fears of being able to fight off corona virus.
Hello I am a 32 year old male and i had anal receptive sex (i was the bottom). The condom ended up breaking! He noticed it, pulled out and put a new one on. He did not ejaculate in me, not sure if there was precum, and not sure how long it had been broken, the exposure was between 5-10mins. Now I'm freaking out that i have HIV. m living in another country, it was so hard to get the Pep medication. After several hours going from a hospital to another, I finally could get a Truvada pill in the very deadline limit of the treatment, probably between the 72nd and 74th hour after the sex.
I was quite desperate and I felt that the staff in this hospital wasn't too much prepared to take cases like mine with HIV risk envolved. It took too many hours, even though I tried to explain them the gravity about this situation.
Truvada should not be taken in combination with certain other HIV drugs. These include the meds that make up Truvada — Emtriva and Viread — and other meds that contain them, such as Atripla, Complera, and Stribild. You also shouldn’t take Truvada with drugs containing lamivudine, an HIV drug marketed under the brand name Epivir. If you’re HIV-negative, you’re most likely not taking these, but you should have the information.
Furthermore, there is virtually no risk of HIV from receipt of oral sex and, IF your partner had HIV, your risk of HIV form a single brief episode of unprotected intercourse is less than 1 in 1000. You then began to take post-exposure prophylaxis, apparently without a health care provider's supervision.
I would not have recommended PEP for you but of course, if you want it, I am sure you can get it.
I went to a government clinic and got PEP ( truvada-only) within 36 hrs. They tested me for all STD including HIV. I tested positive for Gonorrhea, I got it from her. I haven't seen a doctor since then and not taking any medication for gonorrhea yet. I have mild sore throat, feeling little chills sometimes and negligible joint pains( joint pain--maybe just psychological ).
t a risk, rimming is not a risk. So, you had no risk for HIV. Truveda is prophylactic medication. If this was prescribed for you by a physician, you should not take it. It is Prep, not PEP. They ONLY give it to those at risk of getting HIV because they have a regular HIV positive partner. It also takes about 20 days for truveda to begin providing protection with consistently taking it every day. You MUST be hiv negative confirmed prior to taking it.

How can I change from taking Truvada in the noon to taking Truvada at midnight? For instance, should I do two doses of Truvada in one 24 hour period or should I do no doses in one 24 hour period to get it right?
3. When the doctors prescribed the medication I ended up taking 4x the recommended dose of Aluvia. This was due to me having received four cans of Aluvia,not realizing that each can was meant to last 1 week.

Hello - I understand that oral with a person who is HIV+ is low risk, but would it be a good idea to take PEP anyway? My concern is the side effects of the Isentress and Truvada combination. I have the medication, but if infection is very highly unlikely, I think I shouldn't. Friends are telling me not to worry and doctor says it is up to me (which I know). Opinions?
There is a chance, 1% of people naturally clear HBSAG every year. Not sure why you were given Truvada, that is a combo drug for HIV. You should have only been given Tenofovir. If you want to buy drugs for cheap, buy them from India, you can even get Vemlidy for really cheap out there. Post your entire history here, maybe you could be a candidate for stopping treatment, for example if you were HEBAG+ before and then became HBEAG- and undetectable on treatment.
The doctors who provided you with your initial PEP provided you with more medication than is typically recommended for PEP and the Truvada (which is a combination of two anti-HIV medications) is one of the regimens most widely recommended for PEP.
Please note that the ER doctors probably don't do this all the time and from a prevention perspective it is better to initially over treat than under treat. That said, from here on out, I would just take the Truvada.
Because NUCS toxicity is a big theme with HIV folks and from what I have read on their forums people say Truvada is very tolerable. that is from people that were on Tenofovir and other drugs.
So talk with your doctor and see what he thinks.. maybe you can do a year of Truvada and see what happens.. that way you will have a sequential treatment anyway that is being emphasized in a research settings.
Adding Zadaxin to an antiviral could be great also.
The question is with this one possible exposure and taking Truvada within the first 12 hours of exposure, what are the chances that i was infected by HIV, others.
