Due to my guilt and anxiety, I searched for PEP in Europe, which was IMPOSSIBLE. I eventually was able to obtain Truvada, which I started about 55hr after "exposure". I plan to take for the full 28 days. I called the national PEP hotline who told me that 2- versus 3-drug PEP has never been compared and that continuing Truvada would be OK. Other doctors had told me PEP wasn't indicated.
Could you provide me with your assessment of my need for PEP, follow-up testing, and risk?
I went to health care center today, and explained the situation to doctor
I did a rapid test there as control, and which is negative. and then doctor prescribed me Truvada as PEP for a month, and asked me to do a RNA after finish the Truvada.
I keep searching "Effectiveness of Truvada alone as PEP" in internet, I am not sure if this is a normal practice for issuing Truvada alone.

I'm currently taking PEP and have a few questions to ask about it:
I do a lot of sport and have to do a lot of very intense exercising such as running, weight lifting. Is it ok for me to carry on with this while on PEP? (I must stress that it's very intense exercise)
Also I take vitamin tablets, vitamin C, multi-vitamin/mineral tablets and omega 3 or cod liver oil tablets. Is it ok if carry on with this?

For PEP to be effective, it has to be started very early after the exposure. We are talking hours not days. In animal models of infection, effectiveness of PEP really suffers as the delay in initiation increases. Most experts feel that after 3 days there is no use to starting PEP. Additionally, many also now accept that Truvada alone may not be sufficient for PEP and that adding a third drug is better.
In the following day, I finally could find a very good hospital with a specialized area for HIV treatment, and the doctor was quite surprised that they had given me just a Truvada. She added a Isentress (raltegravir) to my Pep treatment. But I could realized that she was quite worried because I had had only Truvada in the begining of my treatment and in the very deadline edge.
After doing some reading, I see that Truvada+Kaletra (or Truvada alone) is a commonly prescribed PeP regimine. I know that Truvada is part of the Stribild combo, but Im not sure why this was the specialists choice? I saw that there is an ongoing clinical trial with regards to Stribild as PeP, which would mean that it is not yet approved for such purposes?
My questions for you are: Will Stribild even be an effective PeP treatment?
And truvada says take 1 tablet daily with breakfast. But my first day taking it was around 12 pm and so was the following days. Is there any specific reason about taking it with breakfast? Or taking it daily with lunch would also be fine?
Due to very high risk demographic and the area, I was put on truvada for a month, due to open wounds in the mouth, having not successfully found out her status. Her age group is about 25% HIV infected, I should have thought about that before. I'm still friends with her though she is scared to get tested.
I wouldn't have asked you again were in not for the worsening symptoms I'm going through.
If you didn't have sex why would you take PEP? If I didn't have unprotected sex I wouldn't spend 800.00 for a script of Truvada and take the risk of possible side effects. If you told your risk to any doctor around here you would have received a script.
The doctors who provided you with your initial PEP provided you with more medication than is typically recommended for PEP and the Truvada (which is a combination of two anti-HIV medications) is one of the regimens most widely recommended for PEP.
Please note that the ER doctors probably don't do this all the time and from a prevention perspective it is better to initially over treat than under treat. That said, from here on out, I would just take the Truvada.

t taking any chances so continuted to take the truvada in the hope it will do something - I believe that truvada only was the original PEP can anybody verify that for me? At around three weeks I got pain all down the sides of my neck for a couple of days. I went for a run at the gym and it disappeared.
I have several questions about this that health professionals have been unable to give me a good answer to.
Was this neck pain a symptom of HIV infection?
I'm on truvada and isentress I have 14 days left due to the condom breaking I asked the guy to take a or a quick test when it broke I went to CVS and bought it...he tested positive... I was on pep 4 hours afterwards...
