Truvada for hbv

Common Questions and Answers about Truvada for hbv

truvada

Avatar m tn This analysis assessed the safety and feasibility of providing Truvada for HIV PrEP in the context of HBV infection. A previous phase 2 study of tenofovir monotherapy PrEP for women in Africa saw no HBV flares after stopping the drug among participants who started with normal ALT and AST levels, the researchers noted as background. Other PrEP studies have excluded people with hepatitis B.
Avatar m tn My Dr has been very involved on checks on me regularly and I feel comfortable with him. He recommended I begin to take Truvada for HBV treatment which I have been taking for 2.5 months. ( I also consulted with a Hepatologist who agreed with the treatment plan) since then I have had my liver enzyme tested regularly next week I will have a full panel again checking my viral load. My question is since I've been on Truvada my Alt and Ast have been very high.
Avatar f tn Now i saw your hbvdna inthe other post and use of truvada was correct, the viral load is too high and both hbv vaccine and hbig may fail if it is not reduced
Avatar f tn Stefan. Well this is where it is all going to. Truvada for us. When I was over at UCLA Aids center here in LA six years ago they wanted to give me truvada. In all fairness these hiv infections disease docs know more then the gastro guys that treat us. because they treat patients who sometimes have hiv hbv and hcv infections. But again for us nucs are not needed. They slow down cell growth. Nucs were developed originally for cancer exactly because of it.

Avatar m tn So I had a discussion with my doctor yesterday regarding the recent elevation in my AST, ALT ( about 1.5 x ULN). I am LAM resistance, on Truvada for almost 2 years now. Everything else (HBV DNA undetectable, ultrasound ok, CBC, fibroscan + all other stuff i have no idea) came back normal. AST + ALT was in normal range all the time but 3 months recently have been up a bit. She advised me to continue monitoring my condition and warn me about possible resistance.
Avatar m tn Or it could also be the result of a naturally resolved hbv infection. Therefore, there is no reason for you to worry about hepatitis b infection. You may take a boosting hbv vaccination to strenghten your defense against future hbv infection, since you are hiv positive.
Avatar m tn combo have no effect on hbv but more toxicity on you, if you have no resistance mutations baseline go for tenofovir only or tenofovir plus lamivudine which are the less toxic/more potent and retry interferon in 3 years
Avatar m tn is truvada used for the treatment of hepatitis B, and how long do one take to clear the virus if your accute types
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with chronic HBV back in Dec 2014. I was given Truvada (Prep) for treatment. I have taken it daily for 4.5 years and my viral load down has remained dormant and the HBV undetectable. Recently, I moved to a new city and my new job does not offer insurance. I cannot afford the medication without insurance as it is very expensive. Is there a chance my body could have rid itself of HBV during these 4.5 years?
Avatar f tn Do you recommend the truvada over the viread or baraclude? If while being switched from Hepsera to truvada is there a risk that the Hep B could become active? Also , the Hepatitis B DNA is currently undetectable and the Hep B Surface AG is currently negative (both prior to transplant as well as post transplant, so far ) what are the chances that the Hep B could become active again once the Hbig infusions are stopped? Thank you.
Avatar f tn 1 - reactive) is good because low (in cronic hbv is always in the thouzands) although i am more familiar with iu/ml or s/n, when you reach 10iu/ml the possibility to have negative is very high and it is also very important to monitor if it declines from base line to 24 and 48 weeks or stays about the same i have seen a patient cleared hbv+hdv in 10 months interferon+truvada combo but truvada has more sides than etv and probably inf+entecavir is the about the same i guess interferon is the most
Avatar m tn Currently DESCOVY 25mg TAF plus 200mg emtricitabine is alead approved for hiv in the USA and canada. It could well be used for hbv, most likely at 1/2 tablet a day for hbv for patients who do not tolerate viread. the emtricitabine. ..also called FTC, is also used in TRUVADA at the same dose, which is frequently used by hepatologists for patients with a suboptimal response to viread.
Avatar m tn I am diagnosed with chronic Hep B and on Truvada for more than 5 years now. The disease is under control and virus is almost undetectable. I am going on business trip to a country where Hep B vaccine is a requirement for the visa. Can I take Hep B vaccine? Will it cause me any harm? Will vaccine interact with Truvada and have any side effect? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thnaks.
Avatar f tn My HBV IU/mL was 101,511,000. After 3 months another test now it is, 116,000,000 I'm 28 years only. Is this number too high or less? Like is there a way to found at what stage i'm in for HBV. I asked same question to the Dr. he had told there is no way to find at what i'm now.
Avatar m tn What do you think of Truvada for us? Over at UCLA Aids clinic they seem to think it will work really well for us. 3 drugs in one. Possibly add interferon along the way or in between treatments.
Avatar m tn I'm taking Truvada now for almost 2 years (Undetectable HBV DNA, e antigen still positive, lam resistance). Can I switch to Baraclude? It will be easier for my budget since it cost way less coz' I'm planning on moving back home. I'm in the US. Any possible resistance or virus breakthrough if I decided to switch therapy?
Avatar f tn it is very good in combo with interferon there is a case report about clearing hbv+hdv in 11months by interferon+truvada, it was hbeag postive at start of treatment my suggestion: interferon+tenofovir is already the standard for hbv+hdv and we know now that interferon clears hbv when hbsag less than 1500iu/ml and hbvdna very low or undetactable, so check your hbsag with abbott architect, the unit must be iu/ml otherwise it is not architect and it is not quantitative i'd add inf+tenofovir+a
Avatar f tn they are dangerous because they all make resistance mutants if you have used lamivudine monotherapy, the only drug without hbv mutants is tenofovir, if viral load is 400c/ml under continuous antivirals you have resistance to them take a combo of the current antiviral+tenofovir for 2-3months and then discontinue and take tenofovir only to be very safe a combo of tenofovir+ftc (truvada)+nitazoxanide is the best and safe choice
Avatar n tn sorry for got to say truvada is used on hiv-hbv coinfection at the moment from many years, it is still on trial for hbv monoinfection but the combo of tdf+ftc (truvada) has been found to have very potent synergysm plus ftc is very active in lowering cccdna which correlates to hbsag.
