Avatar n tn 1 month later he was not saticfied with the drop in cholestoral so he put me on a fairley new drug called Trilipix. I take 10mg of lisinopril for high blood pressure, 10 mg of crestor, and 145mg of trilipix. After being put on the trilipix I started felling tired and having stomache problems (constipated and cramping). I went back to have my a1c check last week and it was 8.0.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lisinopril (bp) for 5 years and Trilipix and Simvastatin (cholesterol) for the last 3-4 years.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. Yes I take trilipix and lipitor.

Avatar n tn He is now taking OTC niacin to help control his cholesterol and watching his diet. His MD thinks that he is not able to take the cholesterol drugs. The only side effect he is getting with the niacin is brief flushing. He has not had his cholesterol checked since starting the niacin, so I don't know if it's helping as of yet. Thanks for sharing this.
Avatar n tn total cholesterol = 487, and triglycerides were over 2000, about 10 years ago. I have a genetic condition that causes this. So, in spite of the risk of combining statins and fenofibrates, my GP placed me on both medicines, after consulting with his cardio doc friend. I can't remember how long I was on these medications, but I know that I had to stop statins in general, because my body just will not tolerate them. I continued to take Tricor for quite some time.
Avatar n tn Here are the meds I am own - Questran - 1 packet for irritable bowl, Prozac for OCD, Allergy Injections, Methyldopa for blood pressure, and Trilipix for Triglycerides (nearly 1000), and Vitamin D. I am only 30!! I am overwieght but work hard to get rid of it with little or no results. They even checked me for Cushings. My TSH is low at 0.3 and I have a Goiter but no known thyroid problem. I have acne. Anyone know what could be causing my heartburn to be so severe?
315318 tn?1353251800 Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down. I have not had a lipid profile done since starting on this med two months ago. However, since being a diabetic , I check my blood glucose (BG) many times during the day and what I am noticing is a clear trend in the BG numbers going lower at least over the last month or so.
Avatar m tn I agree. The benefits outweigh the few, (if any at all) side effects from taking the benzo's every day for over six years. I'm 26 now without insurance, and they are the cheapest of the meds I am on. Trilipix is 184USD, Crestor is 189USD, and even generic gabapentin is 154USD. Lexapro is about 140UDS. Generic Klonopin is about 10USD. Remeron is about the same. And Inderal is 4USD. This is all per month, and I need every one of them.
Avatar m tn twice a day, Amlodipine Bensylate 5mg. once a day, Trilipix 135mg. once a day and Ibuprofen 600mg. when needed. Pravastatin Sodium 40mg. once a day and Alprazolam 1mg. twice a day. I have been to my doctor and have told him about it and he just says, its anxiety. Does anyone know what might be causing this ?? I am tired of hearing that it is anxiety ! Please help !!!!!!!!!!!
225237 tn?1333138999 Your numbers are not too bad, however your HDL should be over 50 so that needs some attention. HDL (good Cholesterol) binds with LDL (bad cholesterol) to take it back to the liver to be removed or recycled. You should ask your doctor about Omega 3 fatty acids which help increase HDL as can Niacin. Also, exercise increases HDL, but please talk to your doctor before you start a new exercise routine.
Avatar m tn 2 High risk The 1987 report of National Cholesterol Education Program, Adult Treatment Panels suggests the total blood cholesterol level should be: 240 mg/dL high cholesterol.[71] The American Heart Association provides a similar set of guidelines for total (fasting) blood cholesterol levels and risk for heart disease:[72] The information can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholesterol It is a very complex subject and change can't always be achieved by diet alone.
Avatar m tn My HDL(40) LDL(65) Triglycirides (78) and cholesterol /HDL ratio is 3.0 . Which are all within the good range. Yet my total cholesterol is 121 which is below recommended range. Please explain how, why and the consequences for low reading.
Avatar f tn my total is cholesterol is 274 . hdl is over 107, can't measure ldl and trig are 75.
214065 tn?1251288877 Total Cholesterol: A high cholesterol in the blood is a major risk factor for heart and blood vessel disease. Cholesterol in itself is not all bad, in fact, our bodies need a certain amount of this substance to function properly. However, when the level gets too high, vascular disease can result. A total cholesterol of less than 200, and an LDL Cholesterol of 100 or less is considered optimal by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
Avatar n tn If your kids have an increased risk for high cholesterol (i.e. obesity) it would be reasonable to measure the cholesterol, to define how aggressive has to be the intervention. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Your cholesterol is great and so are your triglycerides. Actually remarkably good. The reason why your cholesterol isn't very low, is that you have lots of the good cholesterol (HDL). This cholesterol is protective against cardiovascular disease. So your cholesterol profile is perfect. You would rather prefer your cholesterol profile than a total of 160 and a HDL of 37, for example.
1398693 tn?1343684738 I hear a lot about high bad cholesterol but I hear nothing about high good cholesterol. I have both. I would like to know what are the consequences of having High Bad cholesterol AND High Good cholesterol? Does anyone know?
Avatar n tn I am 55 and 6 months ago I had blood work; total cholesterol 236, HDL 68, LDL 148.4, Triglycerides 98. I have good BP and I weigh 95-98 pounds. I am an RN, a nursing home administrator and exercise instructor--I am on the move and do all out exercise 1.5 to 2 hours per day 6-7 days per week. From Spring through fall I add distance bicycling (40 to 80 miles at a session) and golf pulling the clubs, in addition to the exercise workout.
Avatar n tn I am a 37 year old female.. I have posted here several times about my recent cholesterol readings... I feel my doctor just took things lightly and feel that perhaps he did not give met he correct information.. My total was 148.. my ldl were 100 and my triglcerides were 52.. my hdl was only 37!!!! 6 years ago my total was i think 176, ldl 98 tri's were around 111 and hdl was 59... what would cause it to go down so much in 6 years...
159619 tn?1707018272 There has been considerable discussion as of late as to the risk involved in having elevated cholesterol levels and whether or not having elevated cholesterol is still considered a risk for CAD. I am still one who believes in the conventional medical thinking that elevated levels of cholesterol help contribute to CAD.
976897 tn?1379167602 s important because evidence is actually growing to suggest cholesterol is not the problem it is stated to be. Let me start the thread by making some interesting factual comments and please feel free to research them if you disagree, but I think the results will shock you. What started the very first idea that saturated fats cause Arteries to form plaque? It actually began about 100 years ago when a researcher decided to see what effect it would have if Rabbits were fed a meat diet.
Avatar f tn In case of high level of LDL, the particles will be moving in the blood around the body searching for cells that needs cholesterol, but because of the cells saturation, LDL will end up by “letting go” of the cholesterol molecules in the blood. These molecules should be taken by HDL to bring them back to the liver. The higher the level of LDL, the slower will be the process of cholesterol “recuperation” by HDL.
